    Your review and those of few others was why I investigated and bought this boat. Great, honest review..pros and cons. I did a review on my channel too. I also got mine from a dealer, new, for $130 less than MSRP. It is light, really comfortable, lots of leg room, fairly fast and tracks better than you'd expect. Really like the seat. I don't use the low position or stand to fish, so the main cons are not an issue.

    After two years of research and review, I picked up the 120 Friday. Yeah Your reviews helped in the decision big time, thanks man.

      Ya its tough buying kayaks, especially if you are unable to demo them. Good luck with yours I'm still happily fishing out of mine. Let me know how you like it, I personally think its one of the best values available.

      Great fishing platform at a good price. Catch em on sale for a terrific bargain. I've handed mine down to my 14yr old son who loves it as much as I did. He stands and fishes in it without a second thought.

    sweet yak. I just pre ordered the pescador pilot 120 pedal yak. very similar to this hull.

      Nice, I've been considering that one myself. Was thinking about passing the pescador pro to my son. When you get it let me know how she paddles.

      Brian Richard Will do. I'm down in south Louisiana and I like to fish very shallow water for redfish and speckled trout on top of oyster reefs. we mothersip to different locations with my pontoon boat which I converted to a center console with removable benches. the pedals will allow me to cover more area but, then pull up the drive system so I can stalk reds in very shallow water. looking forward to..

    West marine sells an OEM version of this boat called the Pompano 120. Same exact hull and materials but 2-300$ less because its West Marine brand. You get the same great yak with the same features for less. I got it on sale for $479 when they had their yaks 20% off for memorial day.

      I checked it out but it doesn't look to have the 2 position chair. Only a padded seat with back. It also lacks the front storage tray.

    Hey Brian great vid! I was curious what the hull slap noise was like with this boat? I just got a rather expensive fishing kayak I won't mention but it's noisy as hell and the hull slap is insane even with just 4-5mph winds. My older pescador is much quieter and no hull slap. Curious about the new one. Thanks!

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  7 років тому

      No hull slap issues for me, I've never had it in salt water though so really the only waves I've seen are in 10-15 mph winds on fresh water. I am curious what expensive boat you reference. Outback?

    • @rangerjonoutdoors6429
      @rangerjonoutdoors6429 7 років тому

      Brian Richard I bought a Kaku Wahoo, a good Florida company here at home and it may be the most stable kayak I've ever seen. However with a baby 6mph wind today the hull slap was so bad it literally sounded like a drum set being paddled down the flat, and felt like a pickup truck without a suspension driven down a bumpy road. Lol

    So there’s probably not a kayak on the market even at $1300 it doesn’t have a plastic rod mount track . The track is really only meant to hold a Scotty mount rod holder with a fishing rod in it not like you’re going to be trolling for 200 pound marlin

    Brian, how old is your son? I am looking at kayaks for my son (he turns 7 this summer).

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  7 років тому

      My boy was 12 when I made the video. In my opinion sit on top kayaks like this perception pescador are allot safer especially in deeper water. We tested my old sit inside kayak in a pool and once you flip and they fill with water they are very difficult to recover. A sit on top, on the other hand will never fill up with water and will only need to be righted and reboarded. My sons friend flipped his wilderness system Tarpon 10ft sit on top last summer and other than getting wet and losing some gear it wasn't much of an issue. For a smaller boy the 10ft pescador pro version of this boat is lighter and cheaper not to mention easier to paddle.

    • @Dave_Ehlers
      @Dave_Ehlers 7 років тому

      Thanks, I agree about sit on tops. I have a a Malibu Kayaks X-13 that he rides on the kids seat on the bow hatch when he goes out with me. But he is getting a little big for both of us to ride on mine. When we are both in it I have standing water in the foot well area. I suppose I could lose some weight but that is tougher than it sounds. I have been looking hard at the Feelfree Move Angler, Feelfree Moken 10 Lite, and the Jackson Skipper. I stumbled across this video and thought I'd ask you more about it. As it could be another option (I should really be narrowing it down rather than adding more options). I worry about the width of the kayak for a 7 year old with the Moken at 31" and the Pescador pro at 32".
      Thanks again for your response.

      There is a small access port (screw off) that you can see in front of my milkcrate. It allows access into the interior, it is not very big, maybe 3" in diameter.

    Very nice review. I cant stand when people just say how much they love everything about it with no negatives. I really want to love and buy this yak but i just cant get past why perception would make such awful rod holders and plastic rails. Everything else looks perfect and i love the color. Might have to find something else though.

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  7 років тому

      Thanks. Ya rod holders are useless however there are so many after market rod holder options available, I wouldn't let just that stop you. Its a good paddling boat. I would never sell mine. I've since passed it along for my son to use and he loves it.

    • @DaileyLife
      @DaileyLife 7 років тому +1

      Brian Richard I actually did a lot of research since this comment and I think I'm going to get it. The railblazer hd rail mount kit adds a ton a stablility to a rod holder on the rail and the other yak I looked at had the rod holders angled right into your cooler or crate making them useless so I'm sold on this one or the 10.0

    • @DaileyLife
      @DaileyLife 7 років тому

      What would your take be on the 10.0? Do you think the extra 1 1/2 ft is worth it?

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  7 років тому +1

      I never paddled the 10 but I can pretty much guarantee it does not track as good as the 12. I had a chance to get the 10 super cheap but still went with the 12.

    What for the scupper plugs?
    They are not suppouse to be there....

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  7 років тому +1

      The scupper holes allow any water to drain back thru the hull however they also sometimes let water come up thru the hull into the boat especially if you are heavy or the boat is loaded down with weight. A lot of people plug them in the cooler months to keep the floor of the boat drier.

    So a 12 or a 10 foot?

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  6 років тому

      12ft, better tracking.

    • @nate.hanlon
      @nate.hanlon 6 років тому

      Brian Richard what does tracking mean. Lol. It’ll be my first one

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  6 років тому +1

      It's how straight it paddles. Longer boats generally equal better tracking. Shorter boats tend to move left/ right when you paddle. It also means how straight it continues when you stop paddling.
