I have the same exact kayak to a T. I got some diy redneck modifications I've done to mine. I might try this out for myself. Because I'm a big and tall kinda guy with the dad bod, weighing at 265. The kayak supports me fine. Or I could just cut and weld metal to the frame to raise it up.
Great mod and video explaining it. But my favorite part is "I weigh 160-170". Cracks me up when little guys say something like that and add "and I had no problems" to make it sound like if I (little guy) didn't have any problems anyone should be good. Kinda like the old saying "never trust a skinny cook". Me being a 300 pounder almost twice your weight, I can't put too much faith just because you say it held you. Not meaning to sound like I'm harping on you or anyone of any size because that really wasn't my intention. Just expressing something I found humor in from your video that I enjoyed watching. Keep posting videos. And if I offended anyone I am sorry.
No offense, thanks for the comment. That's why I added my weight. If I was 300 I don't think I'd trust plastic either. PVC splinters in the ass don't sound fun.
I suggest that you make a second support for the rear rather then the 1 inch pvc. By doing so you will not have such a steep recline. what are your thoughts out there?
You are correct and I already have. I used a short pc of 2 x 4 wood and it raised the back significantly. I had to screw a thin pc of trim to create a "raised lip" to keep the seat from sliding off the rear but it isn't too heavy and on the plus side it floats.
I've watched a couple of your vids on this boat. You've mentioned more than once that the stand up fishing is ability is very lacking. Have you been able to compare that to other boats to get a comparison? I'm considering this boat or the Catch 120, but I've heard that this boat is faster than the Catch 120.
I have not fished the catch 120 but did consider it when I bought this boat. I felt the perception was a better platform for what I wanted to do. The Perception has a very good secondary stability and I have stood and fished, it just doesn't inspire the confidence like my hobie outback does. However it's all about ability because my son who is 15 and weighs 165 fishes standing up all the time. I believe the trade off is for speed and tracking and I'd personally much rather have those traits in a boat.
It sits very secure, kinda behind the radius of the rear pvc pipe. Having it roll forward was a concern as much as stability of the boat with the higher seat. I actually tried to get it to roll forward by rocking with it sitting on the floor and I was unable to get it to move. Its more secure than I thought it was gonna be.
I was able to use this pvc lift in the FORWARD position as well. What I did was cut a 2x4 about 12" LONG FOR THE SUPPORT AT THE REAR. It worked well and was very solid. I was unable to get seat to shift no matter how hard I rocked forward.
For mine, I plan on using only the outside Ts and will still use the back piece to to raise the chair. I’m hoping that it will still be stable without using that middle T so I can slide things under the seat.
I sold my old bass boat and I'm really thinking about buying one of these. My question is I kept my Kwikdrop stand off of the boat. Has anyone tried to do a mod with a stand like that. You can look up kwikdrop stand on youtube. Would like to get someones opinion on doing a mod with a stand like that.
I watched a video of that seat and it looks a little tall especially for the pescador. Being that tall would make the boat very unstable. You would also have to get a little creative for the base mount as you will be attaching to only plastic. If your honestly wanting to be higher I would go with something like the Wilderness Systems ATAK 120. They are supposed to be similiar but much more stable for standing.
Thanks for the input. Been looking at the feel free 10 and 11.5 its outta my price range. will take a look at the wilderness kayaks. Great mod onbthe seat!
Sorry, I don't have a facebook page and unless you live in NJ PA or Delaware and were willing to pick up, I don't think I could make for you. Honestly It was pretty simple to make. If you screen shot and took to home depot I'm sure they could help you out.

metal would def be stronger.

Ha ha. No that don't sound fun at all.
Thanks buddy I appreciate it been looking for ways to raise my seat up.
Lol nvm got it!!! Thanks great video!
I appreciate the tips as I pick up my pescador in about 5 weeks (my first yak).
For the money I don't think you can beat it. I think you will be happy with. I have found a 230-240cm length paddle works well.

Brian Richard do you have a picture with the 2x4? Im also trying to raise my seat
Probably gonna do another video on this soon, as I have done some more mods to make it more secure, higher and more even.
Ya, new video is up. let me know if you have any ?
I can throw a small cast net from mu Pilot. I think they're pretty stable.
I ran w you great idea but I messed up it doesn’t snap on so I just ended up gluing the tees and will test it out tomorrow

Hey I’m following your steps but how did you bind the tees
Does seat bounce around being bungied down
not at all
would the riser work as well in the back slot if I made two... one for the front and back?
No because the seat would act like it was on hinges and fold.
Where did you get your rubber lining for the floor?
Amazon. made by 3M
So back bar you used 1inch and front was 1/2 inch with 6 ts
yes
What keeps the seat from rolling forward? I've been wanting to do this to mine.

Awesome mod! Is there any reason you couldn’t just use the outside Ts so can have more storage under the seat?

Did you connect ts with piece of 1/2 inch ?
yes
What size t’s please?
1/2
Awesome thank you so much
Brian, If I were to buy this kayak could you make me a seat raiser if I paid you for the materials and your time? Thank you. Do you have a FB page ?

ok thank you. so if you could would you buy this yak again, or something else?
also I'm confused. you said you bought six tees. But you've only used three here right? Or am I missing something?
6, pause the video at 1:18. The bottom two ends have the ends cut off.
