Jesus, let me hold on to something first before you do that to me
One of my favorite tracks on my first RPGs. To be honest, most of FF4's tracks are my favorites; lots of good music in that game, hard to make up my mind.
too bad the boss theme (not the 4 Fiends' theme) sucks ass
@@GiordanDiodato I think the boss theme is really good. It might be one of the weaker battle themes as far as FF4 is concerned but I don't know if I could point to any one track in the whole game and say definitively that it sucks.
Except Rosa's theme.
Edit: And Rydia's.
my favourite game of all time
Had to park and listen, there was always too many fights interrupting it on your way down.
That epic moment when Cecil meets his uncle Fusoya and learns the truth about everything. The original theme will always be amazing due to when it played, but this orchestral cover really brings out the emotions that our dear paladin must have felt as every crazy bit of truth regarding his family and his path was revealed to the party. Well done.
Not to mention when it plays again when Fusoya breaks Golbez free of Zemus' control and reveals not only was he Cecil's brother but also the one who abandoned him. This is by far one of the best parts of the soundtrack for all the emotion it brings and how many times it can be used when a startling revelation is uncovered.
@@jameskellett2699 Not to mention when you hear it again after many many years... it brings the memories back.
Malcolm, you recognized that the key to this piece is to keep that tonic note nice and strong, while everything else rises above it with an ethereal quality and explores the scales. *BUMMMMMMMMMMMMM* . Without the powerful foundation this piece would fall apart, like any subpar remix. It makes you one of the best in the business. And of course you make it sound so much more richer with those modern libraries. And I can't believe how you added a whole new section at 1:10 (those ethereal synth-string notes). It's like it adds a whole new third part to the first two sections. Well done! A deft and fitting addition. I love it when you tackle an early SNES piece from a solid composer and produce a modern treatment like this.
Oh. My. God. I nearly cried listening to this. So many covers accentuate the wrong parts or add weird things that detract from the original melodies but EVERYTHING about this took the original to the next level. I salaam in your direction
Agreed. Malcolm has the musical ear to recognize what the most important element of a piece is and makes sure it stays highlighted during his remix. Many subpar remixes push foundational elements to the background in favour of bells and whistles and the spirit of the original piece is lost.
I like the take on this version. It wasn't my favorite in the soundtrack but it's got a nice rebirth here! Love it!
This song is, eerie, to say the least. Back when I was a kid, I played ff4 after years and when this played I got real scared for a while. Stuck with me ever since.
Your cover suits the game like a glove. The ambiance that's supposed to be felt as Cecil is about to be revealed his true nature is beautifully rendered. Mystery, difficulties to surpass, yet the audience feels the urge to finish the game. FFIV is a great game, my favourite in the series (even better than 6 and 7) and I personally cherish any remix of any track !
"Long have I awaited this..."
Oh hey Malcom, glad to see you're uploading again, I always look forward to your uploads, I noticed you've uploaded some tracks in the last 3 weeks but I couldn't check them out, anyways good to have you back
Thanks! It's good to be back. Hopefully, I'll be able to maintain a fairly regular upload schedule this time.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic Where can I go to purchase your music at a better quality than youtube?
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic So that was a lie :(
@@carlmoore6466 It's been a hell of a year to be fair... hopefully he's able to pick back up again soon!
Oooh, I needed something like this for my DnD game.
@HicksZ34 Good luck. If all goes well you could have the makings of something beautiful. One day down the line she could be YOUR DM.
This is unlocking Epic Destiny type stuff. Use it well.
@HicksZ34 I don't know if your are still there but, would really like to know how you are today, has your daughter liked it?
Those piano chords were always so amazing. Loved the way the game just let them resonate, lending space for silence in between.
The nostalgia level is over 9,000!
Apologies, I'm going to have to request the 10hr version. Thank you in advance. Hahaha. Great work, love it!
I miss your works so much, your covers were always so good
I just stumbled onto this channel tonight and ran into all of these wonderful covers.... like a magical trip of nostalgia!
Thanks for checking out my covers!
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic Thank you for giving us all a portion of your life to make them!
This amazing song from this amazing soundtrack benefits so beautifully from the work you've done here. Reminds me of the magic of playing this game for the first time... becoming a Paladin, and forsaking the ways of the Dark Knight.
This is one of my favorite pieces from FFIV; it's so simple, but there's something mysterious, magical, and foreboding about it. This is the best rendition of it I have ever heard. Thank you for making this!
Amazing version of one of my favorites. You just got another subscriber.
Just dropping by to say that I really enjoy your videos and think many of your compositions improve upon the originals. Sad to see that your last upload is from seven months ago, because I think your work is high-quality and you could easily be employed by video game developers, if you would like that. My personal favorite might just be your remaster of Sabrewulf's theme, or Figaro Castle. I'd love hearing what you'd do with tracks from Final Fantasy VIII and VII.
Welcome back Malcolm. Thanks for another great song, and one that feels nostalgic and wondrous...
Thank you!
Winding through the moon's labyrinthine caves, you are enshrouded once more by that haunting melody-a spectral serenade that seems almost woven into the very fabric of the caverns. Each time you enter, it greets you, an ethereal lullaby that tempers the alien solitude with a comforting familiarity. As you navigate the intricate passages, the music becomes a constant companion, a soothing presence in the shadowy depths.
Upon each return to the moon's stark surface, the music transforms. The once comforting notes now jar against the silence, creating an eerie dissonance that hangs heavy in the low gravity. The melody skews, unsettling yet compelling, urging you back to the caves' enveloping harmonies.
It's during these repeated sojourns, between the comfort of the caves and the barren surface, that a fragment of memory clicks into place. The melody-it's not merely a fixture of this celestial body. It harks back to a moment of profound change: the same haunting theme that once accompanied Cecil's ascension to Paladin. This realization hits you with the weight of history, the song now a bridge between the earthbound past and the celestial present.
Malcom, your covers are always a treat to listen to, and I buy every single one i can. And I can't lie, your music makes me smile. Thanks for all the awesome tracks you've done over the years
Thanks so much for the comment and support! I really appreciate it.
What nostalgia, this theme of this map was very thoughtful and relaxing.
Holy cow. I love FF4 and I liked the moon song. They were interesting but I never found a cover of it I liked. But now. Now I can rest easy knowing I finally found the one.
Fantastic job!!!!
Thanks! It's kind of an obscure track and it doesn't give much to work with, so I guess not many people are making covers of it.
This wasn't one of my favorite songs in FFIV. I used to find the song to be boring as a kid. As I grew up I learned to appreciate it for being written in 5/4 time and the complexity of the simple song. The DS version improved on the song by adding the heavy bass hits but I still found it lacking something. However, after hearing your version of the song, it made me wish that this was how the song sounded to begin with.
I know what you mean. I've always liked the chord progression and weird low bass hit in the original, but I knew I'd have to add a little more to it if I wanted it to be worth uploading to my channel.
This is hands down the best cover to this theme.
Honestly one of the FFIV tracks I've been keenly awaiting the most. Beautiful work once again
Always come back to this gem. So ominous and enigmatic... Love this game.
Agh my favorite theme in this beautiful game... Love it.
Wow. This brought me back to the little boy who was blown away when he first experienced Mt. Ordeal. Thank you for the nostalgia.
Please come back...
I need to hear your rendition of Zeromus!! Your covers are SO GOOD, they're better than any other orchestral versions I've ever heard!!
As usual you've handled it excellently. Everything is great. It starts off just right, and it seems like it is just gonna be a good old classic redone to your standard...and then you hit with 1:10 and just absolutely blew me away. As always you consistently prove you have a gift for this and that you can bring out the best in your selections. I applaud you yet again.
Thanks! I don't usually add my own stuff to the original composition, but I figured this track needed a little extra something in the second loop. I'm glad you liked it.
Loved it!
Commenting for the algorithm because I want more of this
Great rendition!
“Why...why was I consumed with so much hate...”
Dude Incredible this was such a thought provoking tune you give it a foreboding and dramatic mood
Simply beautiful
I absolutely love your interpretations of every song that you do. This was, of course, brilliant.
Glad that you’re back, can’t wait to hear more of your FF4 and 6 tracks
Wow, this is beautiful, man. All your orchestral renditions of songs from my favorite game of all time make me happy. :)
You're work has been fantastic over the years!
Another great piece, Malcolm! Bravo!
Excellent job 👍👍
Thank you for this. I still play FFIV annually, since I was a kid. It means a lot to me.
I was waiting for this one! Incredible as always.
You are spot on!! I actually think this sounds much better than the original. You made me cry. Thank you
Perfect. Just Perfect. This is outstanding. I feel this is the version that would be the best fit for a Film adaptation of FF IV.
Have you done a version of Fate in Haze from FF V?
Thanks! I haven't started any FFV covers yet, but when I do, Fate in Haze will be one of the first. It might just be my favorite dungeon theme from the FF series.
Thank you for covering this one! For myself, it is one of the most special songs.
Always great to see another FF cover coming from you
^_^
I love this cover the most! Well done!
I really hope we get to hear The Lunarians theme in FFXIV :)
Excellent, it sounds perfect! Glad to hear another one of your takes on FF music. cx
Glad you liked it! There's a bunch more FF coming in the next few months.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic Best thing I've heard all day!
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic aaaw yeah man
This is shear beauty. Please take pride in this.
I love your compositions!!
very nice! can't wait to hear more!
LOVE THIS RENDITION.... by far the best I have come across.... Hey Malcolm can you do please Mount Ordeal/Hobs!!??? I been looking for a great rendition of that classic
Excellent!
I liked it!
Great idea
beautiful
This is a magical version, good job =3
Really hoping for the final battle to end up on your list of final FF4 remixes! And maybe Meridian Dance from Secret of Mana, that would truly be an aural delight!
perfect as always man
Beautifully done ^_^
Hearing what you've already brought to us, Zeromus will be amazing.
I also have a rather unorthodox request, even though I know you must be busy with up-coming works. There's a track from the game "The Simpsons Wrestling" and the track is called "Burns' Mansion". Out of all of the tracks in that admittedly rather "meh" game, that track stands out and I know would just make an absolute epic remix with your style.
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us. :)
I dream of the day that you'll do orchestral covers of tracks from Children of Mana. You do some of the best work, and that game has some truly gorgeous tracks. I love "The Ruined Ground" best of all.
I love Kenji Ito's work from the Seiken Densetsu/Mana series and I've actually been working on a piece from Children of Mana. I doubt it'll get a significant number of views, but it's been really fun to make anyway.
I hope you still continue to make music
I cry every time. Seriously, I don't understand how you bring out the emotion in each of these songs, but here we are with another beautiful cover that perfectly matches and improves the original.
AAAHHHH IT'S SO GOOD!!! One of my favorite RPG's of all time, and there's something about this track that just feels so immense. What a terrific rendition of it (as you always do)!
If they ever did a remake of this game, they should tap you for the OST. Beautiful.
ワイはな、このカバーは植松さんも喜んではる思うで。Malcomはん、ようやった!
Y aquí seguiré... esperando a tu regreso
Why are so many final fantasy games about the moon?
Please do Into the Giant, if you haven’t done so already!
Had me at the first BOOOONG!!!
Final Fantasy 5 Ending Theme. If there is anybody who could crush it, it's Malcom Robinson
This theme makes so much sense in the after years, it really sounds like it belongs there, since tay is the best part of ff 4
@Alex Kalinin that would be spoiler ;-;
this music make me feel some spiritual shit holy fuck
and when the world needed him most, he vanished
Dude, like ... yeah. What else need I say.
Forsake the darkness you once embraced, or the light will find no hold.
Vanquish the Dark Knight! You and he are one no more!!!
Any idea when you'll hopefully have this album finished? Would love to buy it!
Fu So Ya is one of my favorite FF characters ever.
My dream is Malcolm making Starfox Orchesta Remixes.
Is there a Patreon or shop where we can support or download these songs?
Thanks for asking! At the moment, I don't use Patreon or any other support/donation system for various reasons. My cover albums are available on most digital music platforms, but only the albums that I've completed and licensed. In the case of FFIV, I'm still two tracks away from completing the album, so it'll be a little while before it's available.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic Thank you, I'll stay tuned for any news regarding the album's completion
Oh please, Zeromus' battle theme next!
SPAAAAAAAAACE!
Is any of this song in the new expansion for FF14?
This is way too good for mortal ears.
I thought you died or something (whecho) *wipes brow* more remix deliciousness. How about the cave music from castlevania 4? or the forest music or flying-with-Flamme music from Secret of Mana?
The only tracks I'm planning to cover from Castlevania 4 are the CV4 version of Bloody Tears and maybe Simon's Theme. I'm still not sure when I'll get around to Secret of Mana.
Malcolm Robinson Music sounds like fun. I just enjoyed the lush sound you gave to some of the more subdued tracks
Where are you? Come back damnit XD
Farewell brother...
I have to be careful when I play this song. If I don't look up, a Sword of Light clonks me on the head.
Little bit of a request, kinda.
You would NAIL Dire Miralis' battle theme from Monster Hunter Tri-G.
Oh my god could you make sephiroth's theme?
Please remake the "Empire Gesthal" and "The Returners" tracks from FF6.
Would love for you to do Chrono Cross tracks
Beautiful! And one of my all-time favorite tracks from FF4 too.
FYI, slow playback speed to 0.75%. You'll thank me later.
The creepiest song in FF? I really enjoy this track on the game. 🤣
This was great then when it hit 1:10 it got even better. :D
you gotta do the walking giant at some point. pleassseee
"Within the Giant" will be my next FF4 upload.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic alright can’t wait! One of my all time favorites
