I'm not American (I'm Filipino) yet your video is randomly recommended to me but you are an awesome meteorologist. It would be nice to do similar forecasts here in East and Southeast Asia, especially El Niño and our upcoming rainy/typhoon season, which can be really destructive sometimes. I just had a recent traumatic Cat 5 typhoon Rai experience where I witnessed my house got torn in half. It was in 2021 and in the midst of a La Niña.

I agree I am going to Baguio in September and am watching for the weather over there plus I have family in Subic, Olongapo area I try and keep track of how the Typhoon season is going.

Yeah that is a problem in the PH, but I think it's getting a little better.
Years ago it seemed like the forecasters on TV didn't pay much attention to the typhoons until about the time, like within a couple days of having to start setting signal levels (a system that doesn't work well for judging the strength of the typhoon and instead only focuses on how it affects shipping or boat traffic in the different parts of the PH). But last time I was there they seemed to be talking about typhoons sooner and gave more detail about them.
The PH should have an agency JUST for dealing with national weather that also deals with data collection for typhoons so they can make better predictions, talk about typhoons the same way most the world does and also follow these storms as soon as they know it could possibly come into the PH.
It's also getting bad there because the last time I was there it rained every day and some days for hours with VERY heavy down pours. With the S. China Sea heating up it seems like tropical storms develop much faster now.
I've seen the devastation in Puerto Rico as well as in Ft. Myers, FL and I hope nobody has to endure that this year.
Ft Myers gets a bad one every so often, they're usually pretty lucky... I'd be worried about a repeat of hurricane Andrew hitting Miami area again!

But, I was in Florida when it happened but in south Florida a person I know lives in Miami and my dad has lived in Jacksonville.

My home was destroyed by Hurricane Ian less than 9-months ago and I just got settled into my new home last month. I pray that I don't have to go through that again so soon...

I did two tours in Iraq but I will NEVER ride out a Hurricane again.

So, how hot should it be? It is this kind of statement that gives credence to the climate change advocates. Temperatures vary depending on circumstances - they always have and always will. Florida, like Louisiana, is experiencing higher than average temperatures due to two low pressure systems that are pulling heat from the south. There is nothing strange or remarkable about it, it is just how weather systems operate.

I've never been to the beach during the summer months, only autumn, but I went the other day and the water was SO WARM. It was amazing. So unfortunately I have nothing to compare the waters to based on the summer months, but definitely way warmer than during September.
Yes everyone, please go over your hurricane plans if you live in hurricane-prone areas! Sometimes it’s easy to think we won’t be affected, kind of like an “immune” feeling. But it can happen to anyone in those areas. Don’t be scared, be prepared 😊
I live in SE Florida. I hate this time of year. Right now I am getting my big trees professionally trimmed and cutting the smaller ones myself. We eat down the food in my big freezer. We check the generator. Everything done by June 1.

I live in central florida and every year I get so much anxiety leading up to hurricane season. With these kinds of major weather events becoming more and more frequent and more intense I know I need to get a disaster preparedness kit. I’m really hoping this El Niño keeps things more calm and us along with the barrier islands can get some relief from nonstop destruction and devastation 😪
When 2014 passed without a major hurricane landfall, the period from 2006-2014 surpassed the previous record for an absence of known major hurricane landfalls in the U.S., PS- Copied from a website that tracks hurricane activity. It's not always as bad as it may appear although any hurricane making landfall is never good
@@Solarprofessional yeah I know a lot of the storms end up either missing us or don’t make it to major status, but im feeling like it’s not a matter of if we get a huge storm that hits our area, it’s when. It’s always Russian roulette with where they land so it’s always a little scary. I know if I feel prepared it will help me not to be so worried every season lol

Living in Florida I really appreciate that you guys are so good about covering the hurricanes. I got radar Omega last year before Ian hit my other house in Englewood. Though helpful it was rather painful watching as that storm stalled just south of my house which was for sale at the time. But I did appreciate the storm chasers who I did watch during that time also. Praying for a more quiet season for South Florida

Hey Ryan. I just wanted to say thank you for your coverage last year of Hurricane Ian. I live in Sarasota so the storm I was in the thick of the storm. During the storm we lost power and cell phone was very spotty to get updates. But your UA-cam broadcast was the sent to me by a friend and it was the only thing working for me once the cell phone service got really bad and it’s only because of you me and my family got any information. You got a subscriber for life now, thanks for all you do!

It’s July now and I’ve been seeing stories about those abnormally high sea surface temps in the Gulf and around Florida. Pretty crazy.
I’m in Texas and after seeing this I’m preparing for the worst thank you for doing what you do
What’s the best way to prepare? I’m in dallas so I most likely won’t havr heavy impact but its still good to know
@@bingewatchingtube depends on your housing situation and other factors.
But it's important to
1. Have an emergency kit, including a couple weeks supply of any medications you NEED to function/survive. You're not likely to need 2 weeks, but 1 week supply disruptions are pretty common in affected areas.
2. Have a supply of non-perishable foods for at least a week, including your pets.
3. Have or be able to fill a bathtub/containers with enough drinking water for about that length of time.
4. Look into storm shutters, including dyi options if you're low on cash. You don't necessarily need to install them now, but it's better to have on hand to install on case of a hurricane watch or worsening conditions. Plywood and taping a grid across your glass windows/doors once the risk becomes high can save you from glass flying everywhere.
5. If you have any in-progress home/yard renovation projects, known structural issues or so on, it's better to finish them or pause them for the season duration.
6. If you have unsecured stuff in the yard (parasols, hanging fixtures, smaller barbeque grills, general junk) in your yard, it's important to secure it very tightly or bring indoors, you don't want it impaling granny.
7. If you have chimneys or air conditioning ducts, you should have equipment to securely cover and/or block them in case of a hurricane watch.
8. Do maintenance on your car, have spares at home if possible, sometimes the best way to prepare is evacuate, and you won't have AAA coming out in a cat5 to save you.
9. If you have trees/branches that if fell, would damage your house, in a hurricane zone it's better to remove them now, I love trees as much as the next guy, but I love not being crushed by my collapsed roof more.
10. Try to have an emergency radio and keep in charged, it's great to watch the happenings on your TV, but electricity is one of the first things to fail. You can have a generator, but it's generally better to sit it out dark while the worst part of the storm is above you, because the risk of electrical fires and CO poisoning is exacerbated by the emergency, while the possibility to get timely help if that happens is less.
Depending on your location, housing, budget, desire to prepare and so on, you can do less or more, but I've personally been in situations where missing any one of those could and sometimes did make my life miserable and/or in peril.

@@joeg5414 I've lived in Colorado since 2007. The only thing I would worry about for us as Coloradans is to worry about flash flooding, unexpected snow storms, and or tornadoes. Depending on where you live in Colorado.

My house is at ground zero for Ian and we still have not received one cent from any of our insurance policies. We are waiting for the town to approve permits so we can get the house at least partially fixed before the next storms. No one is doing anything to help us. I hope Mother Nature has mercy on us.

odd because down south in Atlanta we are usually mid 80s already and yet so far we are about 10 degrees off of that and still getting evening in the mid 50s.

In Florida we had a month without school in 2004. We also had a month with no AC in the beaming sunlight during the hottest time of the year. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. 🙃

I would not wish a hurricane upon anyone. It’s funny that I was actually passing through downtown Lake Charles Louisiana as he mentioned hurricane Laura, which devastated this exact city. Our biggest tower is still not repaired and has boarded up windows. Now, hurricane season is not exciting, it’s terrifying. Millions of us have to live along the coast and worry every single year
Hurricanes affect you in every single way, it’s been three years now and I had to file bankruptcy two months ago because of hurricane Laura.

1992 Hurricane season in the Atlantic was an El Nino year, was quiet season. BUT Andrew was devastating. It only takes one devastating storm.

I always worry about hurricanes, though my area doesn't directly get hit by them usually. As much as we really need some rain, cause NY is also facing drought due to how dry its been, no sir, I don't want the storms LOL, both hurricanes and/or thunderboomers. Plus, the possibility of us getting nasty blizzards this year... boy I need to get out our tree in the yard, I fear it'll go the way we don't want it to, lol

Florida is 80 degrees and less in the month of May this year which is very weird . We are usually heading into 90 degrees F weather sometimes even hotter.
I lived in TX since 2020 and started watching him in there. Now I’m in GA and I watch Ryan whenever I see his notifications just so I’m tracking what’s going on. It helps me prepare for the worst. Thank you for having this channel 🫶🏼
I'm a retired NWS marine meteorologist and I partially agree. From a seasonal forecast perspective, I agree: This is a very tough one to forecast. But from a day-by day perspective on where a tropical storm or hurricane will move, I don't see why this will be any tougher than any other year.

Hurricane season is always something i like to monitor because on some websites you can watch thr satellite imagery for the week and watch it form.
Also i went througuh Hurricane Michael while in Panama City so i like to see what other big storms brew up
Been a while since we had El Niño. Last time was what early 2000s? I lived in WV snow central. That year we had the best winter ever. I now live in NC and enjoy no snow most winters.
I hope this hurricane season brings some rain to the East Coast! We could really use some rain! I remember when Hurricane Agnes came up the Chesapeake Bay and slammed into Pennsylvania. Many areas got tons of flooding but it also gave us some rain in other parts of the country! Areas in the Appalachian mountains! 🤔🤔💧☔🌧️☔💧🌧️☔

I don't live in hurricane territory but I pay attention anyway. Sometimes they have an indirect effect on local weather. I also find them interesting, like my weird fascination with tornadoes. I've been close to a few. Destructive! I'm concerned for the people who are in the path of hurricanes. You don't need to be hit directly to feel it.

I expect it to be extremely bad in Virginia this year. Never in my lifetime I have we experienced such a warm, dry, winter and now spring. My yard is already cracking. In March we had burn bans. WTF? April showers are supposed to bring May flowers. The trees started blooming their heads off in March causing a really bad allergy season.

I am from Tampa bay and when Ian was forecasted to hit Tampa bay me and my family evacuated to my grandparents house in the fort Meyers area and after witnessing the destruction that it caused and how it destroyed peoples lives I will never again take a hurricane lightly and I pray that this hurricane season will cause as little damage as possible and that people stay safe out there.

We had Cat 5 of Ian last year and that was pretty scary. I’m really hope we don’t have any more hurricanes.
Ian was a Category 5 while still out to sea, but Ian made landfall at category 4 intensity on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. It was still a major hurricane, but not a Category 5, and it doesn't take all that much time over land before a hurricane loses strength and it's category drops more and more. Sustained winds in a hurricane will decrease at a relatively constant rate once over land, approximately half the wind speed in the first 24 hours. In the case of Hurricane Fran, a strong Category 3 (a Major Hurricane), within 12 hours it had dropped to a tropical storm.
Hurricanes are inevitable.

The only reason the powers that be are saying it was only a cat 4 is because FEMA doesn't have to pick up the tab for homeowners insurance deductables.

Be very careful with hydration products. It's important to remember not to over do it. Even Gatorade is recommended at a 3 to 4 waters to 1 Gatorade ratio.

Man, wish I had found your channel last year - sitting on Anna Maria Island Florida and staring at Ian. The joke down there is you WANT the initial storm track over your house, because it almost never ends up there. Last year it started over us before slowly shifting south...then overnight whip back up right over our house 20 hours before landfall. We secured three houses, cleared out and were heading north in under two hours - we got this down like a military drill team. Ryan is right - don't be scared, be prepared. So sad what happened to Myers and area. Captiva is basically AMI down there. Sobering to see what they are still going through.
Thanks! Praying that South West Florida is spared this season! We literally just had all our Ian damage repaired. So many neighbors still waiting for new roofs. There was So much devastation that supplies and workers were in short supply.😢

I have lived in Houston all my life. They say the same thing every year. We know just to be prepared for anything, having been to to many Hurricans. But it is good to be remindered for those that move to the Gulf Coast. We are ready, just in case.

Honestly, I am not really looking forward to this terrible disaster of this coming up summer because New Jersey is going to end up having bad heat waves, strong thunderstorms that will cause Tornadoes and heavy rain. I remembered back the year of 2021 New Jersey had some terrible thunderstorms and Tornadoes across every single city in New Jersey

I’ve lived in Florida pretty much all my life. I moved to the Midwest last summer. I miss a lot of things about Florida but I don’t miss this part of it.
Got a storm off the coast of Florida right now. But it's moving south. I've never seen a gulf storm move south.

Sarnia, Ontario experienced some severe weather on the 20th of July. Hadn't seen weather like that for 70 years! I was outside and watched the system come through. Resembled a wave if you were watching from below the water surface! A complete silent vacuum. And then the storm ensued!

We actually need a few tropical systems in the Atlantic and especially in the Gulf of Mexico. They stir the water cooling sea surface temperature. Having said that I live in Louisiana so of course I don't want huge storms but we do need a couple.
Sometimes you get long hot summers with 100+ temperatures for months with no rain. They say what breaks a heat spell like that is a severe storm.
The risk to life does not outweigh the apparent “need for severe tropical weather.” You need rain, nothing else.
Is it me or has this been a very quiet spring/summer? We opened up storm season with quite an incredible barrage of tornadoes through the upper Midwest and there really hasn’t been much since then on that scale that was not only predicted but was expected.

@@biancaxsmith don’t get your hopes up with atypical activity, the present conditions are driving the low numbers for the season… there is too much shear to allow and sustain what people would classify as “uncommon and unusually strong storms.”

We've had a lot of rainfall since Spring over here in Florida.
I can't imagine living where hurricanes are a yearly threat. it's like you just get back up from that last major one and oops, hurricane season is starting up again. Seems like a stressful life. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would move to more stable areas if they had the means.
