As someone who is in New England, we're having weird weather this summer; there was a confirmed EF-2 in RI yesterday, plus 3 smaller tornados in MA and maybe one in CT. This isn't even the first time its happened here in the last month. I grew up in AZ. I am now old. I think if you grow up in a beautiful place that is determined to kill you, and you survive, you should pass on your survival skills to the people who don’t have a clue what they are up against. If you didn’t grow up being taught in school how to survive in the desert, please, please stay inside in the air conditioning. And don’t even think about going out at night in the desert! Just because it’s cooler doesn’t mean that you are not still in danger. Everything alive in the desert at night wants to kill you and has a way to do it. We have a snakes, lizards, scorpions, spiders, wasps and hornets, plague carrier rodents, Havelina, coyotes, wolves, bears, large, predator cats, large crazy predator criminal people, human traffickers, drug cartels that will chop off your head and stick it on a post as a warning to other stupid people. We have killer cactus. Seriously we have cactus that can kill you. I still have scars from being stupid around a sword cactus when I was seven years old. And I had a patient who was really stupid and used a saguaro, cactus for target practice… It fell on him, turned him into a pin cushion and crushed him. You can broil by day and freeze at night. We have dry washes that will drown you and dust storms that will choke you to death. So educate yourself before you go for a hike. If you want to see the beauty of the desert start with the Sonoran Desert Museum near Tucson or the Desert Botanical Garden near Phoenix. Read books on desert survival and better yet take classes. Make sure you and your kids learn the difference between a Chuckawalla and Gila monster. NEVER stick your hand in hole or a glove without looking first and never put your foot in a shoe without shaking it out first. Oh and those beautiful dark green bushes that have long leaves and beautiful clusters of flowers are oleanders. Every part of it is poisonous, and one leaf can kill a horse. On a more positive note once you have smelled the Sonoran Desert during a rain storm, you will never forget it. It will be in your soul forever. Just don’t go into a gully or a dry wash when there is any rain for miles around you. And never let your kids swim in the big canals, they have an under tow current and can drown people in the blink of an eye. If you find an abandoned Native American dwelling with a hole in the roof, turn and walk away quickly and Don’t go inside just to have a look around. That can get you killed too. Be sensitive and learn the cultural taboos. Like don’t stop for hitchhikers dressed in pink jumpsuits. Native Arizonans grew up knowing all this stuff and are probably rolling on the floor laughing but you folks from someplace else don’t know why these things will get you killed, but trust me, they will. And if you make a mistake and suggest something and someone answers with “That’s what abandoned mine shafts are for!” That is your cue to leave immediately!!! Good luck!😂

@@lunistylz8260 yes. It's more so humidity where I live, often times it can be smothering. My children go out to ride their bikes and by the time they walk off the porch to even get to them they are covered in sweat. I feel so bad for the ones who have no escape from The heat. The storms this weather releases is so fast and furious, we have some precious elderly neighbors up the road that a tree fell through both of their homes, one is on oxygen and the other a cancer patient, trees everywhere, they are still trying to clear the lines for repair going into the 3Rd day. We got a warning the storm was coming 10 minutes AFTER it had blown through.
Our fall temps are in the 60s low to no humidity, maybe a very light breeze, and the colors are amazing! You can spend hours outside with friends and family and not be miserable.. it sounds strange but there is a peacefulness, a feeling of freedom and peace in the crisp calm air in the fall here. I hope that makes sense. May I ask what area you are in?

This heat has been quite exhausting working outside in it. It’s not the heat I’m concerned with, but more so the winter that we might be facing. With the El Niño building, sunspots being so high which could equal a weaker polar vortex allowing the arctic air to move down, could be in for a really bad winter.
