That use to be my hood back in the late 80s early 90's (Back when it was called Crooklyn not Nooklyn) Much more dangerous back then, glad its still diveresed and full of cultured and amazing art.
@@navyvet05 That area back in the 90s had only Hispanics, the fact that you saw whites, Hispanics and 1 black person makes it even more diverse now then before 😂
@@Wraith26yeah it’s much more diverse now. Back in the 70s it was mostly Italians, in the 80s it became Hispanic, 90s black and Hispanic, now it’s people of all backgrounds, It’s great.
В чëм красота в граффити и на фасадах в место ремонта? В мусорных кучах на тротуарах? В древних линиях электро передач? В убитых дорогах? Да куда не ткни всë старое и не ухоженное.
AWESOME thanks, bring back lots of memories 😢, It was 1968 when I came from PR I was 8yrs old when I used to go to Knickerbocker Park, it used to be for the Italians, WOW it changed so much 😮, use to live in Knickerbocker & palmetto next to the church with the green steeple, left NY 1977, I retired in Florida
Your walks are an advanced sociology/anthropology study & @ the same time a pleasant walk thru NY... Thankyou very much from a fellow videographer. Peace..
I'm UK born and raised of Jamaican heritage now living in the Netherlands. It was great seeing a Roots Reggae Sound System playing! If my parents had decided to leave Jamaica for America instead of the UK, I'm 100% certain this would have been the area I would have grown up in. Why? Because most of my cousins who are American born live in Brooklyn. Coincidentally, I live near a Dutch town called Breukelen. Apparently this was the original name for Brooklyn before the English bought New York from the Dutch - so in a way I feel very connected to Brooklyn, New York even though I am thousands of miles away from it.
GOOD DAY, JULIEN IN NYC! THANKS MUCH FOR ANOTHER GREAT & ENJOYABLE WALKING VIDEO SHOWING US AROUND PARTS OF NEW YORK REGION ON THE GOINGS ON OF THE RESIDENTS!! CHEERS & KEEP SAFE AS YOU WALK ABOUT!! 🥰🥰🦅🦅
That really felt like a Sunday in that part of Brooklyn without even checking the date. I’ve been in that neighborhood for whatever reasons in a few different eras nice and nasty, safe and dangerous but there’s always a feel about it that stays the same.
I'm grateful to you for this opportunity to visit visually where I could never go physically. I am elderly, in poor health and will never travel again. You open a window on the world. Thanks
Agree! But for me its okay... New York's charm... part of it came from the street arts... may it be tastefully done or just a random vandalism for me it's okay...
Bushwick has the best 👌 murals in town Julien. Probably each and every street has a couple of interesting graffiti. Art won't save the world but sometimes it could treat you right. Thanks for a walk and crazy block party on Irving Avenue. Little party never killed somebody, isn't it? 😉✨🙌
The famous bakery on Hart st my old battle Ground I use to Hangout at the MH park back then it was called Knickerbocker Park I used to play a lot of handball there
*Thanks* for the walk 19:19 and 25:12 same women, black top with short jeans Kinda surprised to see "Lovejoy" on Troutman Street (not Avenue, then confusing road layout with parallel streets and avenues) in this cesspool of graffiti and noise. Grew up in Bushwick, different world.
How about a video of what that place is like at night? If you are considering moving to Bushwick because you can't afford to live in Manhattan or another part of Brooklyn, keep looking.
New York City is one big rubbish dump. A few years ago I was there and while on the street near the railway I smelled something quite foul. I think it came from the underground or the rubbish on the street. Very unsavoury.
Oh wow … I’m sightseeing guide and I do a tour in Bushwick (in French). And of course I talk about Maria Hernandez and how she was so important for the neighborhood.
LOVE Brooklyn......... My favourite within all that is NY City. 100 times better than Manhattan. The easy going, the atmosphere........... Cool!!!🤘✊❤🩹💯
Thanks!, Great tour, You pan that camera like a pro. Love the painted Murals.
Thank You so much David 🙏🏻

Yeps, Haarlem was namesake for Harlem, Vlissingen fir Flushing, Walstraat for Wallstreet and so on and so on.
BTW, did you hear the Dutch around the 22 minute mark.
and Bushwick comes from Boswijk. Forrestneigborhood. That sort didn't age well.
I definitely remember this park looking more bleak lol 90s era but glad to see it more alive and well, cool.
I am crying man my childhood years ❤❤❤❤❤

I'm not sure what Bushwick is like today, but back in the 1980's it used to be a pretty rough part of Brooklyn. Thanks for sharing.
