Cartridges are amazingly resilient. Usually you can get them working by cleaning the contacts with a q-tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Not just N64, but MSX and Sega Genesis. P.S. I don't recommend using an eraser to clean contacts since that would remove a layer from them.
Yeah, it didn't do the game any favors that half of the races were in California; especially since it felt like they added courses that could've been included into some of the others. For instance, the Golden Gate Park could've been a part of the San Francisco course. Los Angeles had two courses with Beverly Hills and LA Freeway. Arizona could've had the Grand Canyon a part of it, and they could've made a separate race for the Dakotas since they wanted to put Mt. Rushmore in the game. They wanted to put the Gateway Arch in the game, but no St. Louis course. They also went from Indiana straight into PA with Appalachia skipping over Ohio. And yeah, they put New York, Florida, and Hawaii in Cruis'n World, and Alaska and Las Vegas were in Cruis'n Exotica, but there were still some missed opportunities at races to include in this game.
Damn I remember this game all too well. My dad got this when we had a 64. I don’t know why I sold all my old game consoles. I guess I never knew how badly I’d want to play them as I got older 😢

I remember playing the crap out of this when I was a kid. The only thing I hated was that they didn't have the Washington DC course as a stand alone course you could race on. The only way to race on it was to do the "Cruise the USA" mode.

This reminds me of when I bought my Nintendo 64 from a friend for only $40 during the late summer of 1999. This was one of the four games that came with it (the other three were Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Mission: Impossible, and Blast Corps). This was/is one of my favorite racing games of all time! Watching this made me feel nostalgic.
I don't know what's more annoying when you're in 1st place position; crashing into cars going the wrong fricking way, or getting hit with a blue paratroopa shell.

I'd generally only notice around doors if people were shooting at me, they just didn't open smoothly. Mainly on Silo. I just Googled how bad Goldeneye got and it seems the consensus was it could get down 10-12 FPS if a lot of shooting and other stuff going on. So yeah, at 10-12 FPS I'm even noticing. Which kind of checks out b/c I'm currently playing a game on my old PC and I have it show me the FPS in the top corner, and when I generally notice the camera being choppy and a little frustrating and I look at the counter and it's like 14-17 FPS. It's only rare though so it doesn't bother me. But yea, Goldeneye got rough.

on the grand canyon race you travel like over 1,000 miles from arizona up to south dakota! really doesn't make sense! on the map route they could have thrown in a couple more races in between , i see they went through new mexico and colorado but where were they?

Half the game is spent in CA. It's like the devs were only familiar with that state. Also, given the weird order / physicality of stages in CA, it's disappointing that they couldn't hook North to have a NYC stage before driving South to Washington DC.

With one player it ran this way. Also, this game isnt exactly running 60 fps locked, it dips a great many times in various instances. Back to your point, 2 or 4 player (cant recall if 4 player was avail on 64 with original) was super choppy, easily reduced to 30fps and frequent disp below that much like all 4player n64 games, dukey nukem, dkong racing, mkart, golden eye, dukey nukem zero hour etc. 😉

All i had as the base of remembrance for this game was the Redwood Forest level annnd sure enough… here it is! I cant believe i found it! Leave it to Cruisin’ to help me.. considering i have Cruisin Blast on the Nintendo Switch 😂 omfg thank you! @@RaposaCadela what pissed me off was the Pak corruption I was on the medium level and it all went to shit. The Jeep was a slow ass vehicle.
@@sc30002001 i had that game. If you drove the jeep off the main road it would actually go very fast
I was the Queen of the Chicago level and my car of choice was the silver car.
Some good brakes on those cars the way they stop at the finishing line.
They don't stop they just freeze the camera and gameplay at that point

Redwood forest that's uhh living hell racing in the forest to the finish line my 2 uncles and aunt and me hated that level back in the days when I was a little kid playing this game
