Hi Mr. Pera, whether it's a character or not, you help me when I visit my dementia ridden grandmother. The cadence of your speech combined with the wholesome nature of it all puts me in the right frame of mind to be the grandson she needs me to be...whether she knows it or not. Thank you for the laughs and the lower blood pressure.
Dear Joe, I think your comedy style is unique, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face when I watch your videos. Whenever I have a hard day and I'm sad or upset for some reason, it always picks me up to listen to your comforting voice and your punchlines though soft are always effective. I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Deacon.
Wonderful comment. I think Joe is the first comedian I've ever truly respected, perhaps other than Owen Benjamin, albeit for very different reasons. This is a truly inspiring guy.
I've just recently discovered Joe Pera while deployed in the U.S. Army and I gotta say it's refreshing to watch someone who's calm, well mannered, and looks at things from a different perspective than most of us. I hope this guy gets the ability to reach more people with his humor.
If anybody wants to know the piece of music, it is by the Johann Johannsson soundtrack to the film The Miner’s Hymns, called “The cause of labor is the hope of the world.” He used a similar sounding piece in his Lighthouse episode, which seems inspired by this piece.
Its been years... and I still come back to this skit. It TRULY is a master class in comedy. Like... next level stuff. And its screaming out already right here. Like this is SUPER funny... super smart ass, and truly poking fun at the whole comedy scene while blazing a totally unique trail, ON TOP OF THAT, its STILL SINCERE, UPLIFTING AND KIND HEARTED. The ability to do that and be cutting edge is ... never been done. Its changing comedy the way tim and Eric did but with genuine kindness. Its so Fucking good.
I didn't even know the Andy Kaufman award existed but immediately felt you deserve such an award. You are hilarious Joe and your commitment is something to be admired and recognized.
I just discovered Joe Pera recently and he is different than anyone else that I watch as far as comedians. There is something so calming and pure about him and he is funny as hell at the same time. I would love to know what he is really like in person and how much he is actually acting because he seems too good at this to be acting at all. We need more people like him in the entertainment business. I feel like he brings a wholesomeness back to tv that has been lost in the past decades. Definitely will keep watching him for as long as he chooses to do this now that I know about him
Seriously, Thank you Joe Pera. Though the humor is funny, this video really helped me. "It's one thing for my self to go without, it's another thing for my family too." Hit me really hard. Every time things get hard, no matter the slump I'm in, I visit this video to remind myself that everything good and bad is worth it for the ones I love and I can't thank you enough for that. Stay well man.
This was really nice. I've been working a physically demanding joh in a warehouse for the last two months and have found it really rewarding. Thanks Joe.
This is hilarious and beautifully touching. The music is by Jóhann Jóhannsson. It’s from a piece called the Miners Hymns. I know it because it’s documentary about where I am from in the north east of England. Well worth watching the trailer if you want a cry at any point. The Miners hymns is sort of an ode or tone poem to the miners and all of the individual pieces of music in the documentary are named after the ‘slogans’ of the miners union. They are so relevant to what Joe Pera is talking about in this film. For example the words on the cover of Miners Hymns is ‘United to obtain the just reward of our labour’.
Joe I am from Upstate NY & I was so devastated to read that you're married 😔 Your wife is very blessed. I love your work & you cheer me up as I am constantly isolated. I read about your work & how you got started & it should be a lesson to everyone that if we go after our dreams, we can achieve them. Thank you for being you. -Danielle
What Mr. Pera does is beyond humor. Though I only just discovered his work it has had a substantial impact on me. Joe is the kind of person I wish to spend time with. Be it bowling with the family or a nice homemade dinner around the kitchen table, Joe would be more than welcome in my home. Thank you Joe for warming our hearts, making us laugh, and being so incredibly relatable. You are a fine entertainer. If I had been aware of your work in my youth I may have felt inspired to dabble in comedy myself.
Love you, Joe! I can't get enough of your content! Wish you could make more, but I'll cherish what you put out. Thanks for your uplifting & wholesome comedy; you really make my rainy days, better!
Joe, big and long time fan somehow only seeing this video now, and I wanna say how much I loved the music choice! I got so excited when I heard those first few notes of The Miners' Hymn, Johann Johannssen is so good

@@inspectorlunge3887 That's a perfect score of 10 out of 10 possible okays.
Yo this comment hit me right in the chest.
This hit me in the feels. I hope you and your grandmother are doing well.
Joe's comedy is a balm of peace and compassion in a loud, cruel, unforgiving world. How can anything so funny so be kind and beautiful?
Andy Kaufman wasn't simply a comedian, he was a character actor, just like Joe Pera. Give this man the award!
Hey joe Pera, I just wanted to thank you for helping me with my anxiety, depressed and sleepless nights .. Love you lots.

Joe, you are a national treasure.

Joe Pera's talent and comedic timing are on another level. Genius.
Life is hard and people are rude and inconsiderate. The idea that a man like this could actually exist is really, really nice.
this made my heart smile
This made me smile lol unheard of.

Absolutely love this video. the comedy and the intellectual level that is rooted deeper than the mere hope for a laugh is absolutely satisfying.

“Oh another thing I learned is that construction workers can be artists too”
I love him so much.
It's hard to be an original in such a fiercely competitive and obviously very mature market. Bravo, Joe!
Are we just gonna act like he didn't call his white lady wife "Lakeisha"
Yea
So the fuck what. 😂
