I had chilli plants go for years indoors on the windowsill. As long as they have reasonable light and are watered they will keep producing.

Alright Al, hows things mate
i've a bird's eye chilli that is 3 years old at the moment(mealbugs and white flies are getting it again) but i have had a bell pepper lasted 5 years(only fruited 2 seasons) before dying from not getting watered while i was away. i doubt it would have lived much longer but idk for certain. also not sure how much fruit production effects the lifespan if at all
Shame the garlic died. Sprouting broccoli will keep goin for yrs
Yeah pity isn't it my queen, but ill keep the broccoli growing now i know it'll keep going! woo hoo, you might be able to have some for a dinner one day, lol
