- (Zombie Knives) How to keep a Sawback Machete LEGAL (Part 2 of a series) showing how to make zombie knives legal using basic tools and methods, so legitimate collectors aren't accidently breaking the law and can keep these items in their collections 100% legally.
Also antique and "Handmade" knives that fall under the definition will still be LEGAL anyway.
The government are introducing a new ban on zombie-style knives and machetes on sept 24th 2024 and will give police more powers to seize knives!

Under the definition of a ‘zombie style’ knife, which is a bladed weapon with:
i. A plain cutting edge, ii. A sharp pointed end, and, iii. A blade of over eight inches long
Which also has one or more of the following: 1. A serrated cutting edge over two inches long,
2. More than one hole in the blade, 3. Spikes, 4. More than two sharp points in the blade
THIS KNIFE IS NOW LEGAL DUE TO NOT HAVING A SHARP POINTED END.
Also "antique" and "Handmade" knives, or those that are of "historical Importance" that fall under the definition will still be LEGAL anyway.
Good video mate making sense out of madness. Its not the tools it's the stupid people carrying on the street put in prison for a long time. Bushcraft and people who have collected legally have to pay for other people's criminal crime.
This would make a great demo at the preppermeet Mike. 👍
Best way to make them legal is to leave them at home when you go out instead of going downtown trying to hack various appendages off strangers.
Thank you for your work, I don't have a big budget and have to make a lot of my own stuff. Your videos have helped me over a span of multiple years
Sorry to hear about your boating accident.
Ultimately, if they want to take your blades and do you for something they will regardless of what it looks like. The cops, quite randomly, came around my house and took various knives, blades and archery equipment. We live in a police state.
Banning sawbacks is crazy. This is a super useful tool for management of woodland, it's a saw and a branch chopper at the same time.
Banning anything is crazy, criminals don't care about the law it's in the job description, they only affect the law abiding.
Personally not convinced yet saw backs are banned as not seen it/them mentioned once. Scalloping/serration and saw geometry are different and defined differently in normal usage, though that doesn't always carry to legal definition for specific acts, and are used for different things and cut through a different action, serrations have no set etc.
I'm hanging ten on saw back till I see something official and definitive from the Gov or CPS personally.
@@merlynsfire1275 check the links in the description you'll see saw back machetes there sadly.
A nice square front would could possibly also work? However, I do understand the round front is more obviously not a tip.
I've seen a couple of people from the states do similar for their "survival" machetes a few years ago and they don't have to contend with this ludicrous government or pointless bans.
Saw teeth are NOT a serrated blade. That's a garden tool, not a zombie knife.
we know that, but the government are specifically showing sawback machetes as one of the main examples of what is illegal now sadly, its mental.
It’s crazy. It’s making me want to cry. I’ve collected for years. I use my 17 inch gator saw back all the time from delimbing branch’s in my garden to bushcraft while camping. How and what can we do about these laws? I’ve read “ninja swords” are next. The amount of time and money gone into these collections is crazy. It’s time to move.
My Machete has "Keep kids off my lawn spikes and serrations" So I think it might be Legal just by the wording.
Seriously though thanks. Good Modification idea.
A common sense approach in a world of madness.
Big bread knife that you could butter with as well 👍
The second wood handle machete is beautiful, where did you get it from if you don’t mind me asking.
Search Anglo Arms Bolo Machete - DNA Leisure have them.
Great video mate
I will never forget my aorrow when u turnwd a great white shark into a sperm whale poxy pointless law changes 😭
I've yet to see anything saying definitively that SAWs are SERRATED as those terms are normally NOT interchangeable and in normal language have different definitions, uses and modes of function not to mention tooth vs edge geometry, saws have a set (teeth alternat to sides, serrations are in line) etc.
I agree with you, my main issue is in the government compensation pdf link (3rd in the description) it specifically shows and talk about saw back machetes as Zombie machetes sadly, also could a saw back be "more than one spike"?
@@WeaponCollector yes the more than one spike is a potential broad term that could catch it.
As soon as they brought style in to it gets fuzzy ie zombie, fantasy and such terms are to subjective to be clear. Size weight length that are scientific measurements or other given facts is the way to go.
Like it or hate it under three inches simple folding blade is pretty clear with not a lot of gray area lol
Oh, a Zombie Police State, is it? I'm a disabled OAP, I remember when the police looked afterb the people and community, not the corrupt politicians and their cronies preying on thev public purse for personal gain and their own absolute impunity.
Great mod Mike
Nice one!
Your even forgetting the worst thing about this law. There are many kukri's in this land earned by service in the Ghurka's by both former ghurkas who took citizenship as a reward for their service and british officers who earned them by serving honorably in the ghurkas all of these blades that are marks of honor and service will be banned. That is destroying memories of people who put their lives on the line for the UK
Yes, very good point mate and ill come onto Kukris soon, as you say they could potentially fall under this law too!
@@WeaponCollector With genuine ones in a ghurka//retired officers hands those Kukri's are practically sacred so a addaption wouldn't work.
I like that !!
Cheers Scott, yeah i think it looks alright too, and i'm pretty sure that would be legal now, what you you think? i certainly doesn't come under the full description now.
See what they change the rules to next time 🤔
Won't be able to butter my toast in 5 years.
Unless the GOVT send a letter to EVERY household telling them the changes in the law then you cannot be prosecuted
sadly not and dont ever rely on that, ignorance is no defense in Law
this will save me buying a new saw I was gonna take of the saw back and buy a new saw but this l do👍
Nice looking mod you've done! It's a shame that you have to though.
Why not just grind down the serration, until it's smooth?
One of the main points of a saw back machete is having a saw. Being able to chop and saw is more important than a stab action with a machete. So it’s almost just as useful without the point. Still all a load of rubbish tho.
Hi there,i have the rambo one two and three, first two are evidently a gonna but what about three, although a lot bigger and gruesome looking would that be okay,no real serrations and just one big hole, could you advise please before i smash the handle off that one aswell thanks Pat.
As far as I can see 1 and 2 will be band but 3, 4 and 5 Rambo are fine. That said if dulling the sharp edge is accepted then you could just do that and keep all. It's a bloody mine field and the government don't make it easy.

As much as I want it to be this isn't right. Dulling a point on a blade isn't going to wash with the police. Remember APAB. Or is dulling a sharp edge. All you have then is a very dull knife that can be sharpened. Completely rounding the nose, yes. Cutting off serrations and saw back, yes. Cutting less than 8 inches, yes. But dulling points and sharp edges NO!
I see your point saying it can be sharpened again which would then make it illegal but what about the large one he shows that has no serrated edge you can drill two or more holes in the blade then this would be classed as illegal. So basically everything over 8" with a point and sharp edge could be made to be illegal. the government as always have made this very hard for people to follow in hope people will hand everything in.
@@johnbeattie9561Your spot on there, that's exactly what they are trying to do. Everyone needs to remember also, if you have committed no crime, don't even answer the door to the bizzies. They will be round your gaff like a ferret. They don't really know the law half the time, and if they see something they are not sure about, they will just take it. Probably add it to their collection!
I'm not sure thats right. The law states it must have a sharp edge if there isn't one any more its not sharp. How much flat or rounding counts will have to be tested at some point.
There are some similarities to things in firearms law like a plain barrel blank with rifling is an expencive tube with w pretty spiral, turn the end to fit a specific firearm and suddenly the shape on one end makes it a firearm barrel, a component part and you need a FAC to own or order it if its for s 'real' gun (not sub 12fpe air rifle example but .22lr or .308 etx)
@@merlynsfire1275 we've got to be extremely careful with this. This can send people sent to prison. So I would advise anybody to phone the police and find out what the deal is. Speaking in them terms I think we all know they will say blunting a knife is no good. You don't have to give them your details just ask for advice on the law. Sorted
@@-hopstar- I deliberately cautious because it's important and didnt say I knew. Definitely need to be careful, if you want to know the law talk to lawyer or wait for a court judgement with president, if you want to know how your local force interpret that law ask them but police are not legal experts.
Knife blanks are not sharpened blades so there logically must be a point between sharp and blunt, re enactment daggers too. It does say they have to have a sharpened blade plus other conditions. Again my opinion.
The one I'm not 100% on at the moment is I've not seen mention of saw back which I'm hoping arent caught as they're not serrated but they do have points.
Never take ANYTHING on youtube as legal advice ALWAYS read the exact law yourself and always seek proper advice if your not 100% sure for your self that you understand it I absolutely agree.
