I absolutely agree. Tears are streaming down my face as I listen to this most beautiful composition. Images of days long past suddenly take center stage, the laughter, the pain and disappointment that I chose to forget but have never been able to become vivid once again.
BEST THEME SONG in the history of all TV shows. This is a powerful orchestral song which perfectly simulated the powerful people on the show. This song can never be beat. Thank you for uploading this powerful memory
I have come across this video only today, refreshing memories from late 80s when Dynasty was one of my favourite shows. No doubt, Bill Conti who produced this classic theme is a genius composer along side others such as Henry Mancini and John Barry.
Bill Conti is a genius. His understanding of music theory is ot of this world. His contol of melody creates such a sweet, ethereal listening experience. the Dynasty theme is for sure one of his greatest works.
As a Colorado native, I loved all the scenes of the mountains and of Denver, my hometown. I was on active duty in North Dakota during the early 1980s, and the Dynasty scenes and music kept me going!
Absolutely beautiful piece of music it brings tears to my eyes anytime,it reminds me of better times like when my parents were happy also reminds of being a kid again with a warm heart without a care in the world.I cannot express how much I thank you for this, words cannot comprehend how much it means to me.
Bill Conti is another great composer, may God almighty bless him, along with john Barry, anyone who entertains us is blessed person, may they live to be over 10010,years in good health.Amen.!
While I think it's very underrated, "best" is a steep hill to climb given the number of truly spectacular theme songs. Mission Impossible? The Twilight Zone? Hawaii Five-O? Perry Mason? Peter Gunn? There's a ton of genius instrumental TV themes.
@@GabrielRodriguez-um8fi How is it garbage? Have you even fully watched it? Never really watched the show (was too young) but the music!!!!! I remember moving to Denver in '05 I was playing this music in my car as I got into the city and it really made me tear up. Weird but true. 13 years later I'm still loving Denver.
LOL I don't know about crying or anything, but this is a great cover of a great TV theme. Instantly reminds me opulence and the 80s. Bill Conti was a master of his craft.
Perhaps the best rendition of the theme, with the slightly slower tempo so you can sit back and enjoy the music more--very clever. I love how the trumpets play, with their very modest vibratos at the end of each note to elicit a feeling of helpless pleasure. Example starting at 1:47. This rendition is indeed so beautiful it can make a grown man cry, as suggested in the intro. Bill Conti would be very proud of this one.
Bill Conti never fails, man! Want a perfect movie score? My choices would be either Bill Conti, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith or Alan Silvestri! Musical geniuses!
This was like a soap opera and a great Western theme combined. God I loved the lily pond fight between Alexis and Krystal : p (I'm sure Blake was enjoying every bit of it and the indignant look was him trying hard not to crack up and smile)...
Great theme song! Interestingly, the home used for Blake Carrington in Dynasty is actually located in the Silicon Valley in Northern California and not outside of Denver, Colorado. It is called Filoli and it is located in Woodside, California -- less than 25 miles south of San Francisco and just off of scenic Interstate 280. The estate encompasses 650+ acres and is open to the public. My wife and I have toured the area a few times. It was once owned by a wealthy gentleman who owned one of the largest and most successful gold mines in California. Although it sounds like it has a Latin basis, the name "Filoli" doesn't really mean anything in the romance languages. It was actually an acronym for Fight, Love, Live -- using the first two letters of the owner's personal mantra: "Fight for a just cause; Love your fellow man; Live a good life." After his death, a shipping magnate purchased the estate as a place to raise his family. He expanded the gardens, ranch and stables. After his death, his widow donated the home. The property is located less than a mile from the San Andreas fault and on the peninsula in-between the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. If you ever have a chance to visit the home, you should do it! Whenever I visit, I can't help but "hum" this theme in my mind. Since there are reports that Dynasty is being picked up for a reboot, I wonder if they will be filming here or using the theme again.
This is the version used in the pilot. It's slower, longer and much more powerful. I would argue that this just might be the most spectacular TV show theme of all time.
my mum and her friend used to watch this show when i was a kid. i used to stand in front of the mirror pretending to put an earring in and then turn around, until i got caught
There are a few orchestral opening pieces of this magnitude. Jerry Goldsmith - Star Trek Voyager, Geoffrey Burgon - Brideshead Revisited, Geoffrey Burgon - Narnia and Bill Conti - North and South comes to mind.
That's a bad ass fucking song or intro or whatever u want to call it. I was about 15 years old or so and now I'm in my 40's. How time just goes by. I have older relatives dying around me not to mention friends. Its all a circle of life, which sometimes is sad but that is the way it is.
I added a tube amplifier when I remastered the track and it really kicked life in the brass. If you listen to the original CD it won't sound like this because it's actually a poorly recorded track.
ManicMindTrick I'm SO glad you did! Because frankly, I can't stop listening to it. It certainly sounds good from my device to my sound system. So thanks so much for posting it, job well done!
@@jafocharlie848 This is actually the only one of my videos that I watch on a regular basis for enjoyment. It's stirs something deep inside of me no matter how many times I listened and no matter what mood I'm in. The day I cant enjoy this music I know it's time to start some serious anti-depressant. Listen to my latest video Largo by Händel and see if it does something for you. If you listen to it on good speakers you feel the organ in your whole body.
@@ManicMindTrick I totally agree, this to me beats any anti-depression I have been on,the slower version only prolongs the feeling this masterpiece gives me.
The interiors of the Carrington house are much darker in the first season. Great theme! I always felt the version used for the first season was better than the later one.
Not to sound like a boomer, but they just don't make them like they used to, do they? At least not in America. At least the English have kept the beauty, precision, and elegance of proper luxury alive in the Rolls-Royce.

That is what music is all about.
Whether your family is involved in National - Security - Classified stuff or plain - construction , this theme is *_e m o t i o n a l_*
😢😢😢😢😭😭😭
It is one of the most profound melodies ever penned, and has been relegated to a defunct 80's dramedy.
The intro was magnificent, too bad the series was a cheesy soap opera.
Holy cow what fantastic music that was. We used to watch that every week. Spoiled with the luxury of that theme!
This is one of the top things missing from television today: well crafted theme music! It matters!
Absolutely: and from movies too. Movies used to BE their soundtracks.
The show POWER has a great theme song. It’s on Starz.
I very much agree. Today's music is a 20 second beep.
only Composer slike Thomas Bergersen (Two Stpes form Hell) could do such Themes!
Contrast this to the soundtrack for the Dynasty remake. No comparison
I took a brief business trip to Denver once....and this song was playing on a continuous loop in my head a lot!
Everytime i hear this music come tears in my eyes, my heart beats so fast. So many memories..
same here.
The 1980s were so awesome!!

It's for sure up there with some of the best. Thanks for watching.
One of the best for sure with Dallas, Falcon Crest and Knots landing and The Colby’s
Mummy's favorite show, memories of us watching together ❤RIP mummy ❤ Thank you Bill Conti, such a genius!

What a superb main title. Conti was at the peak of his creative powers at the time.
I am addicted, ADDICTED! I say! all the versions soothe my soul. Thank you Mr. Bill Conti!
Hands down the best theme song for a television show in American history. It's absolutely perfect.
It is perfect, isn't it? The work of a master in his prime.

I've never watched Dynasty but I love listening to its theme, it's so beautiful. Bill Conti is a great composer.
i was a weee weee young lad in Holland when my mother was watching this every Saturday.
Respect. Great symphony Mr. Conti
So much here .. power, vulnerability ... tenderness. Suspense. What a great piece from Conti and played beautifully by the Houston Symphony. Bravo!

This is from the very first episode. This brings back many memories when I was a kid. I would stay up a few hours past my bedtime.
entered Billboard Nov 6, 1982 ..reached #52

Anyone who dislikes this video lacks that "Dynasty Dazzle".
Get to bed are three syllables I'll ever associate with Conti!! Get and bed are two of them x x
When weekly TV series had 3 minute theme songs.
Time was cheaper, they could afford more of it on TV...
Like fall guy intro went on forever
Plus, usually a recap of the previous episode before the credits.
