it's funny how much the developers thought of stuff with alternate cutscenes, but literally the easiest cutscene to miss, #10, was NOT expected to be missed.
I like that you are one of the few youtubers that still makes kh1 content. It's amazing how a game released in 21(almost 22) years has this much depth in details.
I learned a few months ago that when you beat Riku in the race, talk to Kairi and she asks if you are the captain of the raft and says “Aye aye, Captain Sora.” with a little salute. I fall in love with the game with more and more facts. 😭
@@ShadyRiku I agree. I've noticed that before. Plus, I understood the Final Fantasy references with Highwind and Excalibur. Since Square Enix also made the Final Fantasy franchise.
@ShadyRiku And I've learned long ago before I knew of your channel that if you beat Riku in a race on your first try Riku will retort "Man, lighten up. It's just a name."
The only thing I can think of that Everyone can miss in the original release was the red trinity back in Halloween town since its located near the entrance to Boogies mansion and after defeating him the trinity is no longer available if you never activated it.
For as many times as I've played this game, I never found Pinocchio in Traverse Town until after Monstro. I just started playing it again and ran into Cid's item shop and saw Pinocchio playing hide and seek. My jaw dropped watching the cutscene I had never seen before until that moment. Love this series.
It’s clear to see these missables are a key reason for why the first game doesn’t have a Treasure Chest entry in the journal, unlike every other game. When you think about it, the placement of some of those hidden chests suggests they aren’t even part of the chests in those worlds. You would think they could’ve given a sign for the player to encounter Pinocchio prior to leaving Traverse Town the second time. It never occurred to me to think them knowing Pinocchio without encountering him prior was a continuity error.
You still need to be careful in KH3 Re+Mind. If you overwrite your DLC file after unlocking the Limitcut Episode, you lose your chance to open any chests you may have missed in Scala ad Caelum. The only way to try the postgame again is if you don't overwrite your main save file with one where you can choose the postgame option.
The only thing I can think of that is missable that wasn't covered is that if you pick the staff at the start of the game you will get an extra magic bar that is otherwise impossible to get. So a level 100 Sora would have two more casts of magic to use than other ones.
One other thing that is missable is a Holy-G in Olympus Coliseum. If you extinguish the torches in at the gates with Blizzara, you'll find a chest with the Holy-G. After you obtain Blizzaga, you'll instead get the chest with the Shiva Belt instead.
Do you not receive a holy g when you receive a complete set of gummi blocks near the end of the game? I think the shiva belt might be the real missable here
I consider some missable textboxes to be important, because they never reappear even if you talk to the npc again, which means they are recorded in your save file.
Upon talking to the trio in the cafe after defeating Guard Armor. They go as scripted: Aerith: I hope you find your friends. Yuffie: How's it going, guys? Leon: There are Dalmatians named Pongo and Perdita living in the Second District... Sora: What's wrong? Leon: They're quite upset, these Dalmatians. They've lost their puppies. Yuffie: Squall can't stop worrying about them. Leon: Call me Leon. Aerith: Sora, would you look for the puppies? Leon: Help them out. (Upon talking to Leon again in the cafe). Leon: ... (Upon talking to Aerith after talking to Leon.) Aerith: Please, find the puppies for him. (Upon talking to Yuffie after talking to Leon.) Yuffie: Squa--I mean, Leon--is really cute sometimes.
13:39 Aerith: "And this is from Leon." (She says this line if you've managed to defeat Leon.) I was hyped up with excitement learning about this secret missable.
Right at start of game when being asked those questions by wakka, tidus and selphie you get different text dialogue based on the answers you pick on their questions. It also effects your exp requirements for level up. "Your journy begins at dawn" reduces exp needed to level up from 1 to 50 but increases the exp needed from 50 to 100. If it begins at "mid-day" the exp curve is not changed. and "dusk" increases exp needed for 1-50 but decreases needed exp from 50-100.
Thank you ShadyRiku for 14:16!! I need to trigger that sometime. These UA-cam playthroughs always delight me when they reveal secret collectible items or alternative cutscenes depending on how one chooses to complete the game.
Golly, watching these secret movies is a blast from the past, thinking about how we speculated waaay back in the day. Referring to each character as something different, like the Glowing Eyed Unknown, or the Blonde-Haired Kid/BHK, and so on. Not knowing, of course, that both were Roxas -- all we had to go on was Deep Dive, which was originally just in Japanese as it wouldn't be till the PS3/PS4 collections that the U.S. would see a version of KH I's Final Mix. The first version of the secret movie was the only one available in U.S. releases on the original PS2 version of the game. All of that and more was discussed on The Ansem Report, which around 2003-2005 was THE KH fan site at the time. Long since superseded by other fansites that have kept on existing, but still.

I really liked the video, hope to see more of them like for the other kh games, gotta check out the channel more!
They could’ve had an alternate scene in Monstro where the party dosent know who Pinocchio is if they haven’t met him back in Traverse Town. Weird they missed that one.
I almost missed the 2nd rabbit hole chest in my KH1 Level 1/100% playthrough. Good thing I double checked as I would be pretty tilted if I had missed it. Also, never realized that if you die to Leon he won't give ya the elixir. Wanted to point out that you can miss a hole in the tree house in Deep Jungle. You have to try to fight sabor in the tree house at a very specific time before heartless spawn. IMO it does not count for 100% even though it does make the Pink Agaricus slightly easier in the PS3 version. Also technically time trial cups on Level 1 in Olympus become impossible after Riku-Ansem 1 and the undefeated trophy or "times defeated" as 0 on your file is impossible to obtain after you use the continue button and save. They also fixed missing the Holy-G in the final mix version of KH1 if you had Blizzaga.
Also wanted to add 1 more tiny thing that can technically be missed which is worlds without heartless once you seal the keyhole. Makes getting chests and such so much easier on hard playthroughs.
Also another thing that would count as missable items would be accessories you get from boss fights and some chests. For example if you sold Royal Crown you could never get another one on that save file. It is impossible to get another copy. Also wanted to add that if you want goofy and your optional party member to be level 1 instead of level 2 you have to do a very specific strategy in the 2nd shadows fight in dive to the heart on a level 1 playthrough.

I hate to be that kind of guy again but if there are other misable enemies (i.e Different Heartless and suchlike) by going off route that is not seen in a casual playthrough or alternate home screen image after beating or loading the game.. I would be curious enough to know such things exists and how it falls under such category.
you are the goat man, thanks
I hate how the Pinocchio scene was easy to miss since it explained what I always consider a plot hole, how did donald know who he was when they get to monstro?
14:16 Talking to Aerith in the First District to earn a missable Mega Potion.
holy shit wow i have NEVER seen that cutscene between jiminy and pinocchio and i have replayed this game like at least 20 times lmfao
Upon talking to the trio in the cafe after defeating Guard Armor. They go as scripted:
Aerith: I hope you find your friends.
Leon: ...
(Upon talking to Aerith after talking to Leon.)
Aerith: Please, find the puppies for him.
(Upon talking to Yuffie after talking to Leon.)
Yuffie: Squa--I mean, Leon--is really cute sometimes.
I believe theres a missable chest during the oogie fight they get locked out after fighting him
I love this! How many times did you have to play to do this video? 😂
Br'er Rabbit could be a summon
Great idea 💡
You just unlocked a deep memory
Goooood video
beginner mode isnt missable its optional
I don't think he’s talking about the mode itself, but the starting items you receive
i don't imagine Song South in Kh4
Would be funny if it were. 💀
@@xXLunatikxXlulNever gonna happen, it's more useful to the revolution to pretend that film was racist
@@KopperNeoman No shit. 💀
@@KopperNeomanthe movie was racist, it played on racist southern stereotypes that haven’t aged well by the analysis of any reasonable person. But that doesn’t mean Disney should erase their history and pretend it didn’t happen, because that’s hypocritical.
You should do a level one playthrough
Exp 0 makes it possible and it makes it almost feel like the first time you played the game 😅
Yeah I would love to actually, could even stream it 😀
Yay I never missed anything :)
if you spent half an hour learning how to consistently win against riku then winning against leon isnt that much harder
There was few things but I think they fixed those. Since missables are always bad for the game.
whats the lore behind you dood? Why you know everything ?
It’s just such a gooood game! Always find myself coming back to KH1!:)
Honestly. I love how many times you say destiny Islands gets destroyed that very same night. 😂😂 Of course a channel named after Riku would constantly bring that up. Instant Sub after that penance. Lol. Poor Riku is never gonna forgive himself for that one.
It's okay bro you helped save it the second time. Don't even worry about you ripping out the hearts of the only people that could have brought your world back before your best friend killed you... Letting the being that manipulated you into destroying your world then takes over the shell you leave behind after your best friend unalives himself. And your nobody is used to lay waste to most of the known universe. You were already in hell for that. Good thing your two best friends that you tried to murder when they were one person reassembled you to give you a second chance. That would have been really awkward.
Gæme
