Hi Chris, Just had 3 Hermanns eggs hatch. I live in the south of England Temperature is around 22C at present Should I keep the 3 newly hatched Hermanns outdoors throughout the summer straight away from day 1 and what is the best substrate for them? They are in an open tortoise table with access to water and shade and vegetation fed on flowers weeds and access to cuttlefish. Then should I keep them in the unit shown in the video in the Autumn prior to a short 6 to 8 week hibernation and once they wake up prior to putting them in the garden? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Should I be concerned about what bin I choose to keep my baby in, is propylene plastic a safe plastic to choose to keep my baby tortoise in or will it leach out and hurt my tortoise? If so then what bins do you guys recommend?

I was gifted a four year old red foot tortoise last may. Her previous owner couldn't take care of her anymore, and since I have a very large backyard she can explore, he gave her to me. She has slight pyramiding, but I've been doing research to keep it from getting worse. Even if she just turned 5 years old last week, I'm still going to follow these tips as a new tortoise mommy.

Great video!! Oh my goodness, makes me miss my tortoises!! I had to find them a new home after my divorce- I didn't have the room for their indoor habitat and lost the yard for their summer playground. I had a Russian tortoise and a painted wood turtle, both had been surrendered to the pet store I worked in. Luckily I found a great person to take them in.

Babies 😍 I have seen on other channels that they have run into the problem of their videos not being recommended. One of the things that they asked people to try is to have everyone go into the search area and type in your name. And then watch a video. And then do it again. Maybe this is something that you could suggest to your subscribers? It is supposed to help notify The UA-cam algorithm that people want to see your content.

I have a question about Rhinoclemmys manni, would you raise babies like you would baby box turtles? • @GardenStateTortoise

@@GardenStateTortoise Thanks, they are on a layer of three inches of moss with about a inch of water underneath with a 75 watt CHE for heat and a small 5.0 uvb arcadia fixture. I'm also soaking daily as I would a tortoise just to be on the safe side. When I was newer to turtles I got a incisa and kept it too dry, while he is healthy now 15 years later those early mishaps left him with a pretty bumpy shell.
