Title: how to cast to tv.. him: "and another way to connect to computer"
I know it was bloody annoying at first
FACTS
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Unfortunately you need to jump through hoops in order to cast to a tv without chrome cast.

Got any other ways to cast your Quest? Let us know!
So far:
Airscreen for Fire TV
Apple tv allows phone casting too
Air receiver is also on Xbox and Ps4
Airserver for Mac

I only have an AppleTV and iPhone but a while back I purchased an adapter for like $20USD (Apple loves dongles, lol) that allows me to plug my iPhone directly into the TV via HDMI. I can then cast my Oculus Quest to my phone through the Oculus App and it displays directly on the TV. The picture quality isn’t always great; it depends heavily on your wifi connection. I suppose this is the same with all of these methods, though.
Air receiver is also on the xbox and playstation stores. So while you might not have laptop you might have a console
@@ScornfulSix and that will definitely be plugged into a tv! Nice one 👍
@@greenpat22 nice! Any idea what the dingle is called?
When he said "agree to all the stuff We dont read" I instantly had respect cause he said it since we all do it but we dont admit it.
Haha yeah it's sad but since it's Facebook related we don't really want to know what it says because we won't like it but we still want to use the thing 😅
There was a south park episode about how no one reads the terms of service about 10 years ago. I don't think it's anything new to be honest.
@@BrianUpward haha yeah I've used the clip in a couple of my videos about facebook. Human centipad is the episode.
TL;DR is far too many characters, why I prefer CBA (Can't Be A####)
YES I INSTANTLY SUBSCRIBED AS SOON AS HE SAID IT 🤣😂🤣💯💪🏾🙌🏾
This is great video! I’ve always had issues with chrome cast & Oculus app due to my wifi, but side quest works totally fine, and I run that through my Mac.
Yeah hopefully everyone has one method that works well for them.
Thanks so much! It's exactly what I needed. keep up the great work
Cheers Jimmy
I've been using the option of relaying the Oculus Android app to my Roku boxes. I advise those going this way to (1) enable developer mode on the Android device, (2) enable 'stay awake when charging', (3) then establish headset to Oculus app casting, (4) then cast the Android device screen to your selected receiver. This will help keep the signal strong while bridging the stream for the headset to the display endpoint.
Thanks for the effort buddy! I don't have an Android But at least somebody is trying.
This works for me but it is reeeeeeally laggy
How do you get it connected to the Roku in the first place I can't get to connect to my TV
What app do you use to mirror tablet to roku tv?
@@DR_Eggz same here!
Breaking Bad, The Matrix, 2001: A Space Odyssey, great video!!!
Thanks! And Well done but maybe edit the title that you shortened so there's no arguments ;)

The matrix bit 😂 Liking the video immediately
Awesome man, really awesome. Been waiting for this one, cheers. Wicked videos.
Thank you so much for this video! Loving the content!
Cheers Ezra 👍
Really enjoy your videos! Hope your channel grows exponentially fast!!
Thanks! Growth is slowing but I'll keep plugging away 👍
I did not know it was this easy tysm for this !
Thanks this is really useful. 👍
Now this is an epix gamer moment
Geez, you've got all the tricks thanks
Very helpful video. Great editing. I'm having so much fun with the Walkabout Mini Golf. I hope you are playing it. Great fun and relaxing.
Cheers...🍺😎👍It's Friday night.....
Yeah I'm still loving mini golf but jess loves it even more.
Thanks! This was an amazing video my quest 2 is coming today! :D
Thank you so much! I had no idea you could do that through sidequest! I had been using developer hub, but that needs you to plug it in with a cable and I have a magnetic cable thing that doesnt transfer data.
Developer hub works wirelessly too though
@@VRCauldron but you have to plug it in first, to make the initial adb connection.
@@joshuaham1022 can't you pull out the magnetic bit for a minute to do it?
@@VRCauldron I can but it's a bit tight and hard to pull out. It's easier to install things through the quest itself and not plug it in.
Omg so helpful again. Liked. Thanks Al!
Thank you I couldnt figure out how to get it anywhere besides my phone
Just watching to support the channel.
I have no friends so I don't even have a need to be doing this, but now I know how thanks to this smashing video. *cheers*
Lol thanks Ryuu 👍
A quick note about using sidequest to cast. You can't cast audio using sidequest. Only the video goes through. So probably the easiest and also free method to cast both audio and video is to use the oculus developer hub.
Can you cast widescreen with ODH?
Sorry, how do I access that? My quest 1 won't cast to my TV, phone or oculus website on my pc and I'm frantically looking for a fix lmao
Nice video. Gonna use this sometime:)
You've earned a sub! ;) Keep up the good work!
Cheers Dogzzz!
Breaking Bad, The Matrix, 2001. Great vid as always!
Thanks Matt 👍
Noti squad where you at? Also love the content bro keep it he great work up!
Thanks Custard!
sorry i replied before reading the comments! i did not mean to steal ur wording brosif
New to this, thanks for the decent video
I laughed three times. I subscribe.
Thanks for the advice!
Nice, admittedly a little late as I bought a chrome cast with my quest. But it’s good to know for when we can visit family again :) cheers!
Although you could just take your Chromecast with you 👍
@@VRCauldron true, just means having to undo my cables management behind my TV 😂 again love the content dude keep it up
This is what im looking for thank you so much ❤
No problem!
These vids get better and better
If you have a firestick you can download “Airscreen” and cast it to your firestick with it and you can also cast windows, mac, iPhone and Android
Yeah this is a good one I added it to the pinned comment 👍
Thank u much! I just did what u said and bam it works. Save some money lol. New follower for sure!
What's your preferred method? Additionally, whenever I've casted to my TV via mirror mode on my phone the quality is absolutely pants. Are these methods any better? Or is there a way I can improve stream quality? Even Facebook cast/stream looks awful.
I usually use Air Receiver but none of them look amazing. Actually I'd never used the Oculus dev hub before making the video and it looked pretty good. The phone mirror is sort of a last resort really since you have double latency but it's not bad if you just have a bunch of friends or family wanting to see what's going on.
The lag for casting makes it completely useless imho.
TVs with Android TV built in have built in Chromecast. I purchased several 32 inch Hisense TVs for $80 reach last Black Friday with Android TV and I can cast my Quest/Quest 2 to them. It works pretty well, but my Chromecast performs a bit better, there is less of a delay. Still not bad for a budget TV.
I did pick up a Chromecast for Black Friday specifically for my Quest. With BF pricing and the $15 in reward points it cost me something like $4.33.
Haha “agree to something you didn’t read” never heard something so true. At least I scroll down to make it seem it I did read TOS.
hey VRCAULDRON, if you have a second... I tried to cast my quest to sidequest and the same thing happened in your video when the output video was split and wasn’t full screen, looked like I was just looking out of one eye and couldn’t see out of the other... was there a way you were able to change this because I can’t figure out how to correctly cast it
Thanks so much for your time! Love the videos keep em up!!
love your content keep up the good work!
Cheers Shiloh!
@@VRCauldron cheers to you to!
So which method has the least amount of delays? Been using chromecast which has a one second delay between the headset and tv.
Thank you! Conveniently AirReceiver was on sale for me
Which one of these methods work with sound on the tv/computer? Nice video that will come in handy :D
The last one comes in handy! Just found the feature "screencast", now I need to try that one tomorow thx ;-)
Good luck 🤞
Did it work?
Thx u deserve this like
I was lucky to have a dongle on hand so I hooked my phone up to the dongle. Hooked an HDMI to the the dongle and tv and was good to go.
Thanks for the help been pulling my hair out lol gave you a sub mucka 👍👍
Hey VRCauldron! :) love the content!
Thanks!
great video, thanks for the information.
I don't suppose you know if there is a direct way to hardwire the oculus via USB C to HMDI directly to the tv? I've tried some of the above methods and at some point through the streaming they all seem to glitch and lag
Yeah I’m wondering that too basically the usb plug on the quest you plug it in then the other end is hdmi and you plug that in to the tv
What game were you playing in video with flying chairs. I finished VR the dark room (amazing) and now cannot find anything close to the adventure, video clarity, puzzle. And thank you for making me chuckle,
Thanks, i do need a cable for it, but i can now quest with sidequest to my laptop
Great video my guy. Thanks
So the big question i have is do any of these methods include in game audio to the tv? Ive casted through oculus with screen mirror but no audio any answers? Thanks love the videos keep up the great work road to 20k!
I have chromecast installed on my smart TV and it sends audio, however the audio and videois about..... 1 second delayed from the headset
Pretty sure Air Reciever has audio as it acts like chromecast.
fast, funny, helpfull
5/5 subbed
Cheers Hodor 👍
if you have an iPhone and a screen mirroring compatible TV (most LGs have this) then you could cast it to your phone and then screen mirror your phone to the TV. There will be significantly higher latency but it works!
Yeah it's not bad just for family to see
Almost 12k lets go
The last method was perfect for me because my pc had just gotten broken so I need to repair it so the phone one was the only one I could do
🤣 That Matrix joke was top notch
Awesome vid
Do you know if I can share the game screen of my Oculus to another Oculus? it would be cool to be able to see how other people play with my own glasses
The same app for the computer is also available on the Xbox that way you can cast right to your Xbox like as a Chromecast
And the xbox will definitely be connected to a tv 👍
I said shoutout to you I got the trial and it worked definitely gon buy air receiver now
Just an FYI for people who unfortunately would have to use a VGA or HDMI to VGA cable to watch video.... VGA does not support audio so you'll also have to use a AUX cord or just deal with no sound or use the laptop sound lol I've had to do my far share of workarounds back in the day
Great video
However no method works for me so I got myselfe a chromecast, well worth the money
Very eaay to set up and works on all TVs with an HDMI input.
Nice matrix reference! God I’m cracking up lol!
Haha I love using that whenever I do something stupid. I used to use it in Rust gameplay a lot 🤣
@@VRCauldron Nice! Hey u got great videos, keep up the awesome work! Not many people out there making VR known.
@@vinyeaglevr6833 thanks 👍
Only concern is which of these options if any include capturing sound from native Q2 mic?
6th way, get a Chromebook and get it streamed to there then use a HDMI plug to the tv and boom you epic!?!?!?!?!
This is good for when i get my que- never i cant get dont have the money but still cool video
Sell old stuff you don't need 👍
So there’s no way to cast to a tv without plugging into a pc cool thanks for wasting my time
Thanks for keeping me from wasting time with this JO. I would have watched this all
thanks for not wasting my time, genuinely even tho someone else said it
The last option he put in the video was a good option for not plugging into a PC
Thank you for telling us
just get a pc pooron
Great vid also... nice shirt
You can also screen record your phone to most Mac computers using quicktime video player
Yay now I can flex on my super fast Glock reloads
Great video, but i cant cast at full screen, is there a way to get rid of the black stripes on the sides of the casted screen?
Safe zone?
1 day after i needed it, thanx
Did you sort it yesterday then?
@VRCauldron no, but i'll need it next week so thanx :)
@@aloha5786 cool hope something works for you 👍
I own a chromecast but it is kinda intresting anyways.
thanks for the help
If you have xBox there's a chromecast app called AirServer, which let's you stream your headset to the xbox and it works really well. (there is a 5 day trial)
If you don't want to buy the app, and you have an android phone you can stream your headset to your phones oculus app and then mirror the screen to your xbox. Not as good as the chromecast option but it works, and the sound comes through as well. 👍
If u cast to ur iPhone then u can “screen share” to ur smart tv. That works for me. The only downside is the volume is only on the phone, for some reason. GL.
Ayy you’ve got the same PC case as me💪🏽
Nice. Both my computers have that case 👍
Nice
To cast to TV do you have to select from TV remote options or from the app to automatically connect!
Yesterday I did a Quest 2 demo (showing off it running python, visual studio code, and both serving and interacting with a database-backed WebVR page, all at the same time) so I used SideQuest to do wireless scrcpy to my laptop with my phone as a hotspot.
Nice did they enjoy it?
is that an s20? it's better if you try deX for the screen share (in the quick panel settings), because it transforms your tv in a desktop experience based on android by using your phone's hardware, and it's really handy!
Would connecting the phone to a iphone tv adapter while it’s casting the oculus work? Cause I have non of these options lol but I have the phone adapter
So cast to the computer and then send the image from your computer to your TV or do you have to have a HDMI or display port to TV?
I was considering doing something like this, then using my Rift to stream my desktop in Big Screen so other people could watch me in Big Screen playing on my Quest 2. I have done it with Xbox,PS4 and Switch via the Xbox app for PC (and the HDMI passthrough for the other consoles), but think getting a VR headset to stream through another VR headset to other VR Headset users would be even more mind blowing... ;-P
Haha that sounds really complicated. Could you just connect the Quest 2 via link or am I missing some cool thing that the rift will do?
@@VRCauldron I don't think you would be able to open a VR game (say Beat Saber) then open Big Screen that way, and then have the VR game on the Big Screen VR app. Just thought it would be cool to have people in Big Screen to be sat around a camp fire watching somebody play VR (especially a music based game).Nothing special about the Rift, just that you would need 2 VR headsets to open 2 Apps ...I think... maybe I'm over complicating it..
nobody: ......
VRCauldron: *scared to the stairs then said hello to the ghost
Hehe if you see my horror vs teachers video you'll understand 🤣
@@VRCauldron I might miss the video, gonna watch it now.
His beginning to believe 😂
please few questions 1. I have lan cable in pc, and i dont have Bluetooth, can I always cast it to AirReceiver, (i buy it) 2. Its always loading (AirReceiver) 3. Please really help because i bought it. THANKS!!!
Awesome video
Cheers Gamer 👍
Which of these methods have the LEAST amount of latency?
Great video!
Thanks!
@@VRCauldron No need to thank me :) This video will help me so much when my quest 2 finally arrives!
Anno this aint related to this video but due to all the issues with elite strap the only alternative is frankingquest but that can be expensive do you think you will be able to do some reviews on other cheap headstraps like the halo ones on amazon? Maybe compare them to elite strap on fanking quest?
I got a couple on the way. Hoping to get frankenquest too so I can compare them all.
@@VRCauldron sounds good thanks cant wait 👍
how do u connect it to tv without any casting period, like with a cable?
What is the sidequest link , I don't see it listed?
Also how do you allow your cell to see the oculus. My friend's can't pair with his 2nd cell. Is the oculus only allowed to pair to 1 cell or can it pair to multiple like Bluetooth devices can?
I sub bc u did a funny joke lol
Haha thanks
Interesting
Or you can cast it to your laptop and then plug the hdmi cord in ur laptop
This is how I do it: first I cast to my iPhone and then I airplay my image to my Apple TV.
It’s so laggy and audio didnt work, I find the laptop works way better. I just go on oculus.com/cast then go on my quest 2 and cast it to my laptop and connect the laptop to the tv by an hdmi cable, it works so much better ngl
@@mblackops2 does sound go through and how are the visuals
Awesome tips every time, keep them coming.
My guesses are Breaking Bad, The Matrix, 2001 A Space Odyssey.
Guess I had the wrong Terminator last time and it looks like Simon had Fast and Furious(the 4th Film) instead of The Fast and The Furious
Damn, shouldnt have wasted time writing the rest out beaten to the punch lol.
All good info. And I THINK if you check the titles the people who you say beat you may have made little errors. Oh no, someone said them properly lol.
@@VRCauldron I lost fair and square. I even missed some punctuation myself.
If you have Apple TV, just stream to your phone and then mirror your phone screen to the tv that has Apple TV
