The buffalo mother kinda look thin at the end comparing to the 1st one
I've seen a lot of "calf hunting" videos with hyenas, wild dogs, wolves, jackals. This mother was amazing, obviously very experienced. The way she kept both of them moving and never allowed the wolves to sink their teeth in, always moving in between them and the calf at the last second. The best such escape I've ever seen.

Wild dogs would have easily been able to kill that calf. Their pack hunting skills are a step above the rest
@@samo6083 Usually, (in the videos I have seen), the Wild Dogs have a huge number in a pack, these wolves only had 3. Three Wild Dogs would not have done as well a job as the wolves!

That mom did the best job i have ever seen of fending off as well as outsmarting the wolves .......normally in that situation when there is 3 or more the mom gets overwhelmed ......but she not only saved her baby but another baby from her herd ......thank goodness there is still such a thing as a happy ending.

that calf was also highly intelligent / with sharp instincts. look how he positioned himself well for such a long duration to allow mother to protect him efficiently. all sides played their techniques really well, so the bison won on endurance.
To be honest I was rooting for the buffalo on this one. Fighting off three wolves on her own!! What devotion.

The cubs back at the wolf den must have gone hungry that night :( I can imagine the sounds of whimpering as their empty stomachs cause them grief... Who knows when their next meal will be? Maybe tomorrow, little wolf. Just hold on a little longer.

All of these animals are running for their lives. Yet I still want the little calf to make it. But then the unseen wolf cubs back at the den starve to death. Ug, nature you are a cruel teacher.
There is no mention of wolf cubs, this was just 3 pack members looking for an easy meal.
There are ALWAYS pups @@optimisticwhovian1726 , every year! Also, the pups of this particular pack alpha male, Storm, were shown back at the den in the previous video of this series. He has many litters of pups from different years, some new, some a year old, some 2 years old, etc. This is the third video featuring them in the last ~week from BBC Earth.

☠MrHairyNutz☠ they have evolved to eat meat, i dont think they can survive winters while eating little berries and stuff. I know foxes eat berries but they also eat rodents. And they are smaller than wolves. And the most important thing of all: it is nature. And wolves belong in the ecosystem. Without wolves eating buffalo’s or deers there will be overpopulation and they will most likely e shot to death by men if they get too close to villages or cities.
Everyone is talking about the mother but not about the baby and its incredible ability to become her shadow. This save would only have truly succeeded if both mother and baby worked in unison. Most calfs would have tripped over their mother's feet when weaving in and out like that... but this calf was extremely attentive and knew to stick close by and mimic her movements perfectly. Good for the baby.
I mean, what are the odds of finding another calf in the middle of the trees!! That was hilarious but a blessing for the little calf ❤️

Wolves are some of the most strategic hunters. I mean I love Big Cats, but the wolves hunting style intrigues me like none other.
Big cats are dumb af. They kill their own children becouse they are around when they are moody.

Not trying to be a dick but no it's not.
They for some reason cut out a really crucial part of NATURE in this video. The mother and calf were being overwhelmed by the wolves because the calf began to freeze up, and started getting bit pretty bad. The mother was at the crossroads of leaving the calf behind if it wouldn't start moving. Then all of a sudden! The calf kicked one of the wolves behind him, and you can see his confidence skyrocket as soon as he heard the wolf Yelp. He then started running again and his mother protected him by swaying side to side. That part was before they went into the trees and came out with another calf. Fighting back or crumbling under pressure is natures apex of survival.

the lost calf was smart enough to hide in the forest from the wolves after he got separated from his mother at some point, probably from a previous wolf hunt attempt. Why else would he be in the middle of the forest alone? If he had stayed out in the open field, he wouldn't have lasted long after getting separated from his mother. What's totally amazing is that the adult mother Buffalo while trying to save her own calf by running into the forest ends up saving the lost calf hiding from the wolf. The lost calf is extremely lucky and smart at the same time.

What a beautiful mother, protecting her child from every direction and dodging away the wolves pack! Stood up to the hunters so courageously when rest of the group ran away. Such a brilliant child as he was following his mother's lead. In the end, a little helpless kid gets adopted too.

A truly terrifying experience for the buffalo! That buffalo is an outstanding mum! Smart, but also in great condition, able to fight the wolves off! However... did the wolves still make a kill? Did they get another calf? They have to eat and quite possibly have pups to feed.
Rest of the buffaloes: " hey, good luck to you and your kid, hope to see you at the rendezvous spot"
True. If they work as a group, the wolves wouldn't have to chance.
An enthralling video. That last scene was the best when they found another calf. That scene is so emotional.
A perfect timing from Buffalo in charging the wolves, neither too long nor too short just enough to ward off each nearing wolf. If she had been late a single second, the calf would have been absolute goner. Her effort is appreciated above all.

@3:06 baby bison makes a right decision to start running away first, he is so smart! It's so wonderful and exciting when that time when baby decided to run forward and mom follows them. I'm very happy and remember them forever how the baby decided to do something amazing I couldn't believe! If the calve didn’t run off and stick with its mother and going around in circles, both would’ve die already. Thank you baby bison for making a smart move! I love you very much.I pray for you and herds have a happy and peaceful live.
This is more tense than my finals.
The second calf relaxed after seeing another calf and buffalo coming behind... however he is gonna be a future brave buffalo. Nature gives all strenghts to survive
beautifully captured every move of the buffalo and calf from the wolves. I just enjoy watching these - there's so much for us to learn from these animals. Thank you BBC Earth.

As usual, great story telling... Wolves were very tired, so decided to hunt some squirrels instead.
I thought mama buffalo would tire first. I’d fend them off by standing in place, while wolves are exhausted by circling around them.

It millenium of skill, even to human, human mother protected their off spring before the civilization started, when children didnt know father, after that they created family in order to preserve the specie. In that time they not known if they have father.
The mother Buffalo tackled the wolves really well to protect her calf. In some videos I saw mothers mostly don't protect their child in need.
