I was always told to raise my arches all the time while I was learning... now I cannot dance without pain on my ankle, shin, soles of the feet and calves, also find it very difficult to mantain balance because I oversupinate my feet. Do you have any exercises that could help with this? :(
Dear Mitzi, thank you for your question. I would suggest you look at the 'foot therapy" exercise on our website. If required the exercise can also be practiced while sitting. Gentle go through the process every second day. To learn this exercise you could take the 3 day free trail and look under the category of "Feet and Allegro" www.pbt.dance
"Sickling" does move the weight bearing surface medial the the line of gravity, especially in single leg weight bearing, en pointe or demipointe. This makes lateral ankle sprains more likely.
Isn't it that within the toe box, because of padding, toe-caps, toe spacers and the closeness of fit, it is actually very difficult for dancers to curl their toes within the toe box? (So long as the toe box is not worn out)
@@ProgressingBalletTechnique Aesthetically, elongating all toes through extension of the interphalangeal joints while maintaining the MTPs in neutral or slightly flexed posture (as demonstrated expertly by the older of your models) extends the leg line in an unshod dancer, but according to Tuckman et al., (1991) the last two toes are never weightbearing en pointe anyway: so within the toe box, does what dancers do with the twos shortest toes make a difference to their pointe? (Tuckman, A. S., Werner, F. W., & Bayley, J. C. (1991). Analysis of the forefoot on pointe in the ballet dancer. Foot & ankle, 12(3), 144-148.)
Not everyone can turnout that much with the small ball. . Especially adults. I take PBT three times at the end of the month as well as our regular class schedule three days per week and my turnout will never be great. I’m 50.
no puede tener a una menor que supuestamente va a utilizar si despues la tiene parada 12 min, una vergüenza. por lo demas me ha gustado el video pero debe haber subtitulos en castellano. dislike, lo siento
How incredibly useful!
Thank you our full program can be found if you wish to check out the free trail www.pbt.dance
My whole ballet school would explode if the principal saw this video...because she would realize I was right about all three points.

Tremendous
Great

"Sickling" in plantar flexion is normal and biomecanically correct. Though it may not be aesthetically "correct" in dance. Check the Franklin Method!

True
Спасибо. Это очень ценно!

Many dancers curl their last 2 shorter toes, particularly if they curl their toes constantly in ballet flats

Funny that my teacher asks us to curl our toes all the time. Hmmm
