    I wound up getting all 3 of the copper natrix because. But the XL is fun to hand someone when they ask for a knife. The look on their face is worth the money alone.

    The mini copper natrix is god-tier. You don’t notice the weight since its smaller and the ergonomics are perfect. Definitely in my top 5 and I own quite a bit of Chris Reeves stuff.

    Own this knife, copper smell goes away after handling it. I suppose the soft tumbled copper comes away from the scales easily at first. I wanted copper and patina is great. Legacy knife! Works great, lines are awesome. Also got mine at 74$ and the upgrade was the d2 steel and copper.

    I love my XL. Great action, and I am a big knife kind of guy so I really like the size. I will often carry my Medfords or Cold Steels so the weight doesn’t bother me as long as I’m wearing jeans. If I’m wearing shorts I have something else in my pocket.

    Love copper on gear. I get that some people count every little micro oz. Fair enough. Weight is less important to me.

    That's a beautiful Kershaw. I am a big fan of all Kershaw knives. I enjoy a low budget knife with a good quality about them. I use them alot when I go camping, hunting and carry them regular. I am probably going to get myself a new Natrix like this one. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.

    The small natrix copper is an absolute joy to carry, though probably a little small for most people (blade length 2.75")

      @BT_360 4 роки тому

      When the handle is sized well most people would carry that. I've never handled the small Natrix, but i think it would fit pretty good.
      Some knives are just way to big for being straight EDC.

    Have the mini and I love it so I bought this one and am waiting for it. I love the copper. And the mini has worked good for me this past year. I just wanted it bigger

    I would like the original small version but I've been wanting this one for along time! I just love copper as y'all may know lol. And I enjoy the weight that copper adds. I tend to gravitate towards larger heavier knives... especially copper scales! Great review KING MC! FORGE ON!! ⚔️🛡️🤘🏻

    I have to be honest with you. I bought this knife and was looking up reviews.. I dig heavy knives annd I just couldt get around how heavy y ou were making this out to sound.. I was even getting a little annoyed, but I got the knife and you were 100% Right ! I still love the knife for the value and cost, but for $49.95 its a heck of a knife!! it will be carried and used but I see what you were talkig about.. Its not even how much it weighs as much as the Balance!! Butt Heavy! So you called it.. I sstill like i t but I get it!!

    The copper natrix was the knife that got me into the hobby. Had jury duty and it was 66$ for 18 hours of crap. Told my women I’m spending it on a knife. Had knives my whole life but researched and that’s what started it all. Had no idea of the world of knives

      Welcome to the sickness lol😄. If you like larger knives check out some of the Chaves knife designs his designs are some of my favorites of all time. I hate to admit it but I never have a lot of spare cash so I have found a high end Chinese clone of his 228 redencion. It's large and chunky but the action is un-godly smooth and the hollow grind keeps it thin behind the edge for slicing. Whenever I manage to save up enough I will buy the genuine knife in a heartbeat.

    Uncle Randy is gonna love the weight of this knife, might take the pocket clip off and keep it for backup incase the Buck 110 classic is out of reach.

    Would be great if they came out with the XL in a 20CV or such and satin blade, titanium handle! No matter the configuration Kershaw is still using that junk steel.... LOL

      Kershaw will fall on its sword before cannibalizing sales from ZT, which is a shame.

    I have the original copper natrix (pre-ordered) and I love it and it is my edc knife. I was praying for a larger version and I want this knife. I am probably going to buy a pm3 or pm2 instead for the price. I get the military discount from spyderco and those 2 blades are my favorite, I just wish they were flippers.

    Beware, Kershaw used alot of threadlock on this one. Nice knife though. Had to make a copper backspacer for mine cause I can't stand that plastic one.

    man, Ive got this knife and i love it. I'm a big guy (not fat) . I'm a carpenter and use a 24 oz estwing framer. I need a knife like this. i love the weight and the size. everything. But in the UK.... i had to order this from France and it cost me with shipping £130 ...... yes... that's like $155 US but that's pretty consistent with all knife price comparisons.

    I got a standard natrix XL and love the size, but wasn't happy with the plastic handle. I would like this one instead, but I'm not sure I want to pay $90 for a 5oz edc.

    I’ve been interested in this one. I’ve heard mixed reviews. Sometimes the action is good sometimes bad depends on the knife.

    Very nice! I'd like to see some of these copper scaled blades after about 2 or 3 years of patina buildup.. But I don't know anyone who carries one single knife for more than a week. 🍻😂

  • @ScottieG59

    It’s hard to believe the copper is milled out. It is really too heavy for casual use. I have the standard Natrix XL and I am tempted to swap the blades, if they are interchangeable. Anyway, the Kershaw Natrix XL Copper is much better quality than the original small one. My Natrix XL Copper has no detent rock when closed and the lock is secured in place well, unlike the original copper release. It is just too heavy for a knife not meant for heavy use. One more thing to consider is that copper smells and, after handling it, your hands will have the copper smell. At least, with copper you can treat your fish aquarium for parasites.

    I have the Yojimbo 2 with copper scales and really like the weight jump I got from it. It weighs about 6.8 Oz a lot lighter than this knife. My copper collection keeps expanding. I really like the material.

  • @ioanrafaelcodrea7560

    I bought the smaller version of it. Do you think that the detent ball really consumes as the days go by? Because I heard that the D2 blade version is tougher than the steel which the lock bar (and detent ball) is made of.

    • @metal_complex
      @metal_complex  4 роки тому +1

      No. Ive got tons of D2 folding knives and the detent ball is still fine on all of them. You're good to go 👍

      A knife of mine with brass scales has the same "problem" with the smell.
      It might sound weird, but i think the metal smell gives it kind of a personality.

    • @deadweight2049
      @deadweight2049 4 роки тому +1

      @@dtpfeiffer no problem! The patina looks great after being exposed to the oils and acids in your skin. Looks like a rubbed bronze finish, but the trade off is the metallic odor.

    Copper knives like this… just blow my mind. Of all the things, all the features they could build into knife models that some companies and the overall market just seem unreasonably resistant to creating… things that we ask for as a community and consumer market/demographic… that there’s apparently enough perceived or real demand for a knife that’s as heavy as they are for the sake of nothing other than having copper or brass construction… I just don’t understand why this is what they spend their resources on. Apparently I’m the dumb one, because I mean I imagine they’d stop doing this if it didn’t make them money, but it just blows my mind that companies see these copper and brass knives as worthwhile. Especially when people gripe about stainless steel construction literally all the time, and usually because it’s too heavy and the argument is that it could be aluminum, to make lighter. 🤦‍♂️

    You keep taking the knife out of view and making us starring at that dirty used up rubber mat. Zooming out a little might help. Not trying to discourage you but the most important aspect of the knife like steel material and such has to be at the beginning of your review not at 16 minute mark. Check out Nick Shabazz's videos for great review points other than just the weight.

      Actually they may have "let this loose" but our great country is the ones who started "experimenting" with this virus & our virologists decided that it was not worth the risk to continue studies...so we sent it to the Wuhan labs & have paid them billions of dollars in "grant" money to let them play with it. All during the great administration period of our last president. I shall say no more! 🤟🏻😉
