hearing "the bluest eye" gave me such flashbacks. I never read the novel, but it was also a play. When my mom was in college (in her 30s), her theatre class did a production of it. My mother was the costumer, and she brought little 12 year old me along to help out backstage. That was my intro to working in theatre, and WOW was that a really dark play for my first.
the school forces us to read on SUMMER BREAK. the only time where we should get free time. and they still force us to do schoolwork. i dont give a shit anymore about a 10 or 2 who cares im not doing shit on summer. if i want to read i will just stop forcing us to. basically i hate assigned books and shit. lemme read when i want and most importantly what i want.
Ikr! That Completely Defeats the point of SummerBreak! Literally School in a NutShell is Shoving Reading, Homework And Assignments in Our Face and Calling it “Education”
The annotation stuff they make ppl do in school is just dumb, like when will we ever actually use any of it? But I do like books cause theyre basically movies in ur head
Free reading or forced reading bores me, and I say this as a recovered formerbook addict who now prefers and loves to be communicating with people and doing more.
"former book addict" is so funny but so real. I think lots of people really identify with reading, which is awesome-- just not for me. Forced reading (like in schools) set me up for failure and made me hate reading, but now I like it.
Even I hate reading too, since I do not find reading a book is my interest for a hobby since I have other interest in hobbies like gaming movies and toy collecting. And even stop motion animation which I find those stuff are more value in my spare time but yet there are people that expect anyone to read a book lol since I have seen Replies and even I got a reply from some users telling me to go read a book when those people need to know in fact you can't expect anyone to read a book at all When not anyone is into reading a book when there are people like me have different interest into different hobbies though.
i hate reading so i learn English mostly from video games, and i dont care if Western mock me about my grammar since fck grammar, i learn from fckin video games i dont know what is grammar
You are not alone. I cannot read any novel. I passed the tests the same way. (Cliff notes are a godsend) 60 years later I haven't read a work of fiction since high school. I get entertained by reading things like Electromagnetic Wave Propagation. I spent my life in the engineering field. I never allowed time for fictional nonsense.
As a person who loves books I still get your point. Books kinda suck, they’re boring lol. I only like one author because they make the books constantly entertaining. I’m not saying all but mostly every other book is boring which is probably why so many people hate reading. I will read different authors once in a while but it’s never the same. I value your opinion on hating books it’s completely understandable. I am not exactly sure if you said you hated all books but if you want to get through a book quickly what I do is just scan the text so I can skip all the useless details and still know what’s going on. I hope that helped somehow? Idk how it could but yeah. Tbh this comment is trash.
In an unexpected turn of events, I am now a HUGE reader. I like nonfiction/informational books but when it comes to fiction I stick with Stephen King. That's character growth for you. Thanks for commenting!
I’ve always been pretty smart in school, but I’m just not a big fan of books. It’s not that I hate reading, I’ve just always thought books stink lol, I’ve always thought they smell like vinegar and I hate vinegar

I love reading books, I go to my schools library once a week but I hate reading assigned books in class
maybe its just the fact that you have to read them that makes you not want to, thats wild.
I agree. For some reason the assigned books are so boring.
