This is why I love Tintin. The character’s enhanced my imagination and understanding. They all had great character arches and most of all I still keep on reading them. Nostalgia I guess is a powerful thing
I read Tintin so much as a kid that i still remember clearly most of the stories more than 10 years later. I dont even know how many times i've read each book, but i do remember spending several afternoons binge reading them, and i was a quick reader.

I have been an avid reader since my childhood. My parents encouraged me to read early on, and i ended up really enjoying it. Even though i initially developed my reading habit with regular books, my dad also gave me several comic books to read, mainly Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge, Mickey, Tintin, Asterix and Lucky Luke. Loving reading regular books didnt stop me from loving comic books, or looking down on them as an inferior form of literature. To me, reading has always counted as anything, be it reading books, comics, news or even dialogues in games. Anyone who feels like getting into reading should keep this in mind, in case the task of taking on a book may seem daunting at first.

I would recommend the book " Wings Of Fire " by Tui T Sutherland, it's a very entertaining series ( Especially if you like dragons.) Instead of reading the actual book, I listen to audiobooks, I like how the reader reads it cause she also acts out the voices. So yeah, go and check that out.
I am in LOVE with that book series!!! It is wonderful! I also recommend Warriors, if you like cats.

If you're interested in fantasy settings like that, there's a fantasy medieval book series you might be interested in called Rangers Apprentice. It's setting is in the time of kings and queens while featuring some Legend of Zelda like ideas and characters. It's an easy read that kept a dope like me entertained despite hating reading.

I think that every form of content that gives an story in a written form, with less or more words, counts as reading. Yes, of course, the good aspects of reading are obtained better with traditional literature because you have to do more from your part, contrary to comics and mangas in where things are more simplified to not screwing up the artwork, but, still, is reading, nonetheless.
Therefore, if you don´t like much books, well, you have comics and mangas.

Before I really didn’t like reading, but then, I read a book titled wings of fire and I loved it!
Watching this reminds me of when I was a kid and I would read the Captain Underpants series. They were also a graphic novel. The humor was amazing. There were times where I couldn't control my laughter in class during "Quiet reading time" and got sent to the office. I had to explain to the principal how much I loved the series and showed her the pages that were super funny to me. She wasn't amused, but she was happy I was enjoying reading and sent me back to class and to "try not to laugh so hard"

You should read Wings of Fire by Tui T Sutherland. You can read the actual books or the graphic novel versions. It is a 15 book series but there are only 5 graphic novels. They are pretty quick reads and it would be easy for you to try out.

I saw an ad for this in a manga series I'm reading. I had to come back and watch this video to be sure it was the same one, and I'm glad I did!
That's how I feel about the Redwall series by the late Brian Jaques - the intended audience might be older children/young teens, but the lore is deep and well written, and every character has such personality and voice! If you want to kickstart a reading problem, Redwall is a great way to go (just look up the chronological order to start!).

Reminds me of how when Ba Da Bean (a 2021 cartoon series about a bean sprout living in an art classroom) launched here in Latin America it got a pretty great fanbase really quickly even though it was a preschool show (most of the fandom wasn't even from the target demographic, Bluey style). And then I'm pretty sure I started the trend of making BDB OCs (a.k.a. Badasonas or Beansonas) after seeing the show's developers post their own, and then the rest of the community did it too, there's ships (Cosa x Bean and Filbert x Bean are prob the most popular ones, I personally ship Bean x Glider), and a lot of fanart.
Not to mention how us BDB fans would analyze the episodes over and over to find references to past episodes or easter eggs, or how we worked together to find the episodes in english, or how the (now inactive) amino, wiki and discord server were made, etc.
Plus, the BDB OCs look somewhat similar to the Pet characters lol (considering most of them are art or school supplies)
i love kids literature like this, its cute, fun, and creative as opposed to a lot of kids media that has canned, flat characters just to be a marketing ploy for action figures and toys. it also makes recycling seem fun! kids deserve media with time, effort, and skill put into their plots and art!

One of the ‘books’ that I rediscovered years later was a book series called Maximum Ride…. The manga version, and in my opinion is better than the actual book itself. Discovered it in sixth grade when I was checking out a book in the school library after that I read the entire series and never touched again since I switched school later on after summer.
Fast forward to end my on freshman year, I was returning either my school laptop or my final exam. the drop off was in the library which I hadn’t touched for whatever reason, and in the corner of my eye I saw the title shoved between a couple other volumes in it. I didn’t think much of it as I hadn’t realized what it was, that was until my curiosity got the better of me and I picked it out, a huge sense of nostalgia kicked me in the teeth as I remembered all the memories of good ole sixth grade and I read it only to realize that it was the last day and I wouldn’t be able to read this amazing series.
That was until I discovered the wonderful app of Kindle and I read the entire original series(the other ones were just boring) in like 2-3 days. And I’ve been a happy customer of theirs for three years now and my mom happily pays for my subscription if it means I read more. Fuck Amazon still… even though I’ve published my book on their website, and they give me books that I wouldn’t normally read.
