try to read when you have 20 times more testosterone than the average guy. girls can sit easily... cause no hormones ask them to go hunt for a female. tell me how much you read on your ovulation day, boys don't have that.. they have it every day. it's in our DNA

    Summary:
    1. Don’t over achieve. Start low: 1 page/day minimum.
    2. Read before internet dopamine fix.
    3. Habit bunching, read with your morning coffee.
    4. Try audiobooks. (Even while working out... habit bunching).
    5. Change your attitude, self identify as a reader.

I used to hate reading but I found that if you start with smaller books (100 page ish books) and slowly work bigger it kinda gets easier. Also, if you are like me and can't sit still for 2 minutes to read a page or accidentally fall asleep when reading anything, that's okay. Just keep trying again and again and again and again. You'll slowly build your focus and even if you don't at least you'll get the much needed sleep you need :)

One thing that helped(s) me with wanting to read, a tip from a non-reader I know 😂, is to read books that movies were based off of. I had watched The Hitchhiker Guide To the Galaxy, with Martin Freeman in it, and, sometime around I decided to listen to an audiobook of it from a great youtube channel called Now Read This. His voice definitely fits the writing style perfectly and the characters come to life from his narration. I really enjoyed that book!

Holy shit that intro is so me. I find all these books that I want to read, but when I come to sit down- I can barely keep focus and follow through. It's taken me around 2 weeks to read 100 pages due to the lack of consistency. Then i end up feeling bad thinking that I'm just not cut out. I see people that can get lost in books and read lots and I'm just so envious of that, I really want to get to that stage.

It's not all sunshine. Most people who read a lot get glasses rather sooner than later. Those who don't, have better eyesight for a longer time. Eyes are not made for reading lots of information. Also, most people who "read a lot" read low level literature, keep that in mind.

i made it a habit more than 4 years ago of at least reading a couple of pages each in English, French , German , Maltese and the bible. it is really enjoyable if you do it in a relaxed way as a workout without stress, without haste, without over emphasizing on vocabulary searching . it helps me calm down. last year i finished reading 3 novels in French, 1 in Italian, 1 in German and a couple of books in english and maltese , just by being consistent in reading a few pages from each language a day. do not waste too much time on vocabulary searching , you will meet words you do not understand the more you read.

    Something else to include:
The most important tip I ever got to becoming a better reader.... was literally to just sit down and FORCE yourself to read. And to do this for HOURS upon DAYS. To do this without speeding through it and just trying your best to comprehend it, even if you're SUPER SUPER SUPER ADHD and cannot concentrate or focus at all. Eventually you will get to this weird point, in my experience, where you understand it, and then suddenly you enjoy reading? It's strange.

I read a lot of personal development books too but if I’m in a reading slump picking up a fantasy, sci fi or smutty romance novel usually kicks my brain back into gear and makes me fall back in love with the process of reading. If I’m just reading books on how to be a more productive human all the time it gets really dull

I initially thought that this video might teach techniques about how to read & analyse a book for maximum enjoyment. It doesn't.
Instead, it provides excellent advice for anyone who decides to take on a regular self-improvement task which they haven't been doing before (such as reading a book, dieting, exercising etc.).
So many of us start such activities with an abundance of enthusiasm and good intentions, only to give up for one reason or another.
This video explains that a fundamental thing you need to do is build a new habit, and it shows you how. You build the new habit, and eventually, the habit drives you.

I'm 16 going back into 8th grade for a second time. And I have timed myself when I choose to read a whole chapter. It takes me about half an hour to read 9 pages.

I had some learning problems too in high-school People had to repeat themselves cause I couldn't understand what they were saying. But hey its never too late to learn anything. It's hard but you have to push yourself. I thought I would never finish high-school and even many thought as well but I pushed through it, analysed every single word even searched the meaning up in the Internet. By the end of 2019 I graduated and passed all my subjects with b's and A's. Don't worry kiddo you'll get there, just take ur time reading. Even have people next to you to help its no biggie and it's worth it. don't worry about what the other kids ethier say cause there not gonna help. I use to got teased alot for having a assistant teacher around with me even when I was in the final year of school, but I still kept my head down and worked hard. I even made friends with those teachers that helped and gave me alot life tips and advises. Now I'm reading my 30th book julius ceasers commentary on the gallic wars. Pretty wierd how I got here but I'm proud of what I did to reach this. Its all about ur mindset, just got to be positive all the time, if you doubt alot don't because doubt kills.

I would love to read a book a week... growing up, I always thought I was too dumb to read; listening to my mother always correct me... I learned to be quiet in fear of saying the wrong thing. Now that I'm in my 40's, I realize that my insecurities from my past has followed me into my life today, which has hindered my growth... I will believe in myself more❣

I will try to follow your advice❤️ As of now, I have this kind of habit which I found myself sleepy after every 2 pages of reading a book. Exam will be in next two days but still I'm stuck at the same page😭 Sometimes I used reading when my insomnia attacks because I always feel dizzy once I read😅

I was reading a Light Novel, and I used to read like 50 to 100 pages a day. Suddenly, I lacked motivation and started to read 1 to 10 pages a day only.
*I hope this video will help me*

  • @sebsefyu
    @sebsefyu 5 років тому

First tip is GOLD. 3-5 pages a day is great tip as it's very achievable. I would not recommend doing audio books as one can get easily distracted and then not listen to what it's been said, at least for me. While when u read you're actually concentrating on one thing only, reading. Also your brain absorbs info better by reading then by listening to audio as you're processing when reading, like a computer vs passively listening. Associating reading with some positive reinforcement like being in bed or drinking coffee is also fantastic idea. Thank you.

    Summary:
    1. Don't over achieve. Start slow: like 1 page a day.
    2. Read before internet. Read first thing in morning.
    3. Bunch your habits. A habit you like doing it with the habit you're working.
    4. Try audiobooks
    5. Change your attitude. Self identity, what you think about your self. if think like i am not a reader you will become one so self identify as a reader.

Hear me out non readers I am not a book reader but I started with a book and tried to complete and finished it.
The way you choose a movie according to desired taste search for the book
Sometimes it takes time to find right book
I got started when I was told to choose my favorite summary from any book so I watched Sherlock Holmes movies then I pick that for school, after reading the summary I became interested in his books so I read the entire chapter this is how I read the complete edition of Sherlock Holmes if anyone is wondering where to read it's on Kindle👍

Reading is hard at first and it's easier to just come home from work and plop down on the couch and zone out to a movie or tv show. But it's like anything, the more you do it, the better you get at it and the more stamina you have for it. It feels good to work your imagination and it actually helps my mental health. Definitely recommend!
