Santos by Recumbent Trike - POV Ride Along

This ride was day 3 of the 2023 Big Honkin' Rally in Florida. The Santos paved ( not to be confused with the nearby mountain bike)trail is just south of Ocala accessed off I-75 at the Belleview exit and then North on SW 16th Ave. The Land Bridge trailhead is just across from the Florida Horse Park. Santos trail has curves, hills and very few road crossings making it a true delight to ride. This trail should be on everyones bucket list.

What a great trail! To the person with the Burley carrier….do you have a motor on your trike? If so, what strength? Also, how big is your dog? You were really zipping along there.

He does not have assist, just strong legs. He rides/ trains regularly. There were two Dachshunds in the trailer.

We have two dogs and burley dog trailers, the puppy weighs about 90 and the older dog is about 70 lbs. The 70 lb dog barks a lot in the trailer. I do have bike two leashes on our trikes, but they have not trained much yet with that much running. I'd like to take them out someday, but the barking would be very annoying if we were there.

That was a hilly trail, so the downhills were fast, 😁. We do have class 1 assist though which saves the old knees going uphill.

It's not a club really, just a gathering of recumbent trike riders annually sometime around the middle of February. They refer to it as "The Big Honkin' Trike Rally" You can look it up on Favebook for details. It centers around the town of Inverness, FL and various trails are ridden around the area. The only semi-requirement is that you have a recumbent trike or bike.
