    When I first viewed this video, I did not think it was something I wanted to try. I replaced the agit dogs and thrust washer, but that didn't help a broken motor coupler. So I followed the video step by step, and now the washing machine works! Thanks.

    This video saved me at least $200. I had a bad motor coupling, and didn't have a clue on what part needed changing or how to do it. BTW, letting me know the agitator head was 7/16" was a nice time saver. I'll be sure to look back at your other videos for future appliance issues. Thanks!

    Very helpful video. Our agitator on our Whirlpool LA9100XTN1 stopped turning, I moved the washer away from the wall and saw a round piece of rubber on the floor along with all the broken tabs. This video is great for helping diagnose the problem. I hope some other people will get as much help from this video as I did, because we were about to go buy a new washing machine. A quick trip to the parts store and about an hour of time got it up and running again. Thanks again and great job on the video.

    I'm not sure why you removed the gear case, I just pull the drain pump and motor to save time. For the average DIY person, this can be to much trouble and intimidating.

P.s. yes the pins was shattered on both and the old rubber pieces it connects into was oval holed, this new one fits tighter on the pins

    Just a bit more light would have been perfect when you were re-installing the motor and tranny. Please don't take that as trolling. What I like best about this vid is that you install the entire kit. Other videos just show replacing the dogs in the upper part of the agitator.

    i have a Kenmore. Basically the same. I had an issue where it wouldn't spin. The coupler was broken. I replaced it and it still wouldn't spin. It took me a day to get the agitator screw out because it had rusted to the point where the head was completely gone. Now I suspect the clutch and agitator dogs are broken.

    You can do this repair by just popping the motor off of the transmission assembly with the two clips cutting the work latterly in half.

    hello, I have an older Whirlpool washer that will spin only if there's a very very small load in it. Anything larger and it won't spin. Is the problem most likely the belt?

  • @oatnoid
    @oatnoid 3 роки тому

    Have you ever had the agitator cogs get worn down and cause the same problem? You can see them at 1:04 in your video. The 4 flesh colored plastic pieces? I took out my coupler and it looks fine works ok by hand, everything turns but the agitator. So before I replace the clutch I was wondering if you have ever come across that problem.

    • @smaugington
      @smaugington 2 роки тому

      Was your problem the clutch? Everything on my washer works except agitation.

    • @oatnoid
      @oatnoid 2 роки тому

      @@smaugington No at 5:38 you can see the flattened oval of the 3 prong finger fittings It looked fine until I took both pieces off. One side looked good but it was completely rounded out. No flat sides left. except for a couple of millimeters on the end that made it look ok. Diabolical if you ask me.

    Hi there, I accidentally unscrewed the bolts on the bottom before taking out the one inside the washer. Do I need to re-screw the bottom bolts to get out the one from the top, or is it just stuck? It's not coming out now.

    Thanks for the video. I think this is what is wrong with my washer. The agitator is frozen in place and won't turn. I think this coupler is all broken up and jammed into places where it shouldn't be.

      Ra's al Ghul it’s supposed to be breakable. If the transmission locks up for whatever reason you want the coupling to shear so you don’t burn the motor

      The couple can be taken out and inspected in about 5 minutes. If it is in good shape it is probably the clutch brake.

    well I would love to tip mine on the side and work on it but it is full of clothes and water. Im not sure this is what I need to replace. Can you help me diagnose it? I was washing a load and had a small pillow in the load. It did however soak up a lot of water. When the washer went into the spin mode it started banging so I pushed in the dial to stop the washer. It came to an abrupt halt making even more noise. I then redistributed the clothes and pulled out the knob to restart the spinning process believing it was more balanced. Alas, nothing happened, now it won't spin, it won't agitate, drain, or anything. Since it would'nt restart the spin cycle I was confused, so I filled it up with water again in hopes the problem was to do with the water level. Now I can't get the water out, the clothes are a huge slopping mess, and I am very distraught please help me!!! Terina in Arkansas, it a Kenmore

      sounds like you dont have any power? check your plug and fuse at the breaker box. draining shouldnt have anything to do with the agitator
