    thank you! I just fixed my machine with your help. Clutch was worn, no spin. I saved a used transmission from a throw away machine like this, and after 5 years of sitting it finally came in handy, easy enough swap. Clothes are washed haha

    Thank you for the knowledge!
    Found your video after replacing the broken dogs in the agitator. Agitator working now but Now I have to spin the basket by hand then the motor continues the spin. Basket spins on its own but sometimes needs a manual kick start to get it going.
    I have acquired this washer and believe it has been sitting for 2+ years not running? I’ve already ordered wrong parts but was still able to use the dogs out of the package.
    Please put out some links to the parts needed to do the exact repair in your video. I sure would like you to get any well deserved Amazon credit with the option to click a hyper link to purchase the parts. Thank you again.

    Super, My Kenmore was working, now froze on spinning cycle. May have open and free the brake.

      If the brakes are stuck, the washer will not spin. The clutch would basically burn out. If your washer stops properly when it is done spinning, your brakes are fine. If your basket is not spinning and you can hear making noise like something is moving. If you look and see something shiny, it is the clutch

    Great video . Mine won’t spin as fast and therefore the clothes are still soaking wet. I think I have a sticking brake because it’s making a bad noise like it’s not releasing all the way. Drum spins but just doesn’t spin as fast

      Probably the clutch is slipping not the brake side

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  9 місяців тому

      Your clutch could be slipping. Yes your brakes could be dragging. I am doing a complete breakdown of a washer like this one. It will be on Patreon . On your brakes, you can spray a tiny bit of WD40. It will free them up

    okay i might have finally found the right guy to ask my question. I have this EXACT washer.. i decided to clean it up thoroughly as i noticed some rust on the inside of the drum just as the one you were working on this video has. I am sure you had to use a puller to get that drum off the drive spindle just as i did .
    My question is around the rust, Mine also has rust under the agitator as this one did but not as much. But i had a ton on the underneath side of the drum where the spindle goes through. Can a remove the rust with a wire wheel on a drill and hit it with some rust paint ? replacing the drum is super expensive so not worth it, but i was just wondering your thoughts on this ? or should i just slap it back together and move on ?
    Thanks . I actually have another washer for parts and i took the drum off that one and it has exactly the same issue.. almost like the water has no place to go and just sits there so rusts from the inside out. As soon as you take the agitator off you see the rust

      @appliancerepairshorts  Місяць тому

      If it is rust that you can scrap off , remove it, but those baskets are baked. So I would not paint it. Maybe a rust converter . On my channel on a speed Queen maintenance I used the product called Corroseal. Excellent stuff. Love that you are fixing your washer. Excellent unit. I tell my customers don’t get rid of them. In fact I just picked up a beautiful set yesterday. They are “upgrading “

      @@appliancerepairshorts thank you very much for getting back to me. I will look for that product. I hate taking stuff to the dump. I used those tablets to clean the washer but was not satisfied.. wanted to strip it all down but needed advice first.. one I stripped completely and it looks brand new except for the drum.. if I can fix these drums I'm good to go. I repair medical diagnostic analysers for work so it's awesome to work on something so simple and reliable . thanks for the advice and keep up the great work

    Did you replace the transmission or just loosen up the brakes ?

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  8 місяців тому +1

      I replaced the transmission, but not because it was bad. The clutch was already on the other one, so easier. I also had to loosen the brakes. If I didn’t, it would destroy the clutch.

    I've got a similar problem in my washer. I've replaced the clutch before because it wont spin. This last time I put it back together and now when it's supposed to drain pre spin cycle it starts to spin while full of water. Are my brakes worn out? Thanks!

      Double check your work. As in the cam . You might have a timer issue. The timer should checked. 285785 for Whirlpool Kenmore Washer Washing Machine Clutch PS334641 AP3094537. I would take it apart and check how you position the cam lever before the clutch spring. Basically if you replace the clutch it should come with the kit. I’ll send you a better link shortly

      @@appliancerepairshorts I did try a different timer. I've replaced everything but the brake basically. Replaced transmission, clutch, timer and motor. When I put the transmission back it was hard to get in, which I realized was the brake had slid down. Which led me to looking at parts diagrams to try to figure it out. I cleaned off the brake and the housing, but still same problem.

Yes I’m holding my phone in one hand. I actually watched it to see, but the video isn’t bad. Let me ask you something, what were you looking for? What was your problem with your washer?
