    I hear a lot of people promoting this as an option for truckers. I wish we were consulted first on this. On warm days this might help, but when the weather is really hot, nothing short of diesel powered AC blasting in both the front and sleeper sections will keep us cool. The sun beating down on the truck turns it into an oven. There’s also the issue of venting and intake ductwork. A window adapter would go a long way to solve this. Still I see potential for this to help in certain conditions.

    I drive long haul and my truck has an APU that does Heat and AC, runs off Diesel. If it's over 95F and the sun is beating down it can't cope but if I run the truck and crank the AC to get the temp way down, like 65F then run the APU it keeps it cool for much longer. I do lots of California and Arizona so it gets hot. I bet if you had run that thing and let it's AC cool the truck down then switched to the Ecoflow it would do much better and run longer. Love the Pete, they don't make em like that anymore.

      R u an owner op? If so, is the spot market still horrible as far as low rates, to go with fuel cost doubling?

    • @AaronTyson
      @AaronTyson 2 роки тому +1

      @@TechMadeEzy if you don’t know what an APU is. It’s an Auxiliary Power Unit. It runs on diesel consumed from the main tanks.
      They generally burn between 0.1 and 0.5 gallons of fuel per hour depending on their design, the ambient temperature, the sleeper's insulation, and the resulting HVAC load, along with the AC power being generated.
      However not all semi trucks are equipped with an APU. Most company owned trucks don’t use them due to cost, installation cost and on going maintenance of the APU. It makes sense for owner operators and very small fleet owners.

    I would've loved to see this video done with a little more thought and prep involved. At the very least that unit should've been between the seats and had the curtains closed to cool only the back. The comments about the intake sucking in hot outside air are correct too. It should be using the cooler inside air. I really do appreciate the video made for specifically for us though!

It doesn't matter how old or how new your truck is. The Eco flow wave or Wave 2 could be an advantage if you have enough battery to run it

    I am wondering why the intake air is coming from the outside?? One would think that the cooling would be more efficient to take the dryer, cooler air inside and cool it down. I have a free standing air conditioner and the only tube is for the hot air headed outside. The intake is all from indoor air.

    • @adam-newbloom
      @adam-newbloom 2 роки тому

      Your thought process is right, what happens though is it then creates neg pressure and the outside air is pulled in through window cracks and openings so it essentially makes it harder to keep the space cooler. I learned this the hard way ;)

    I don't see why you couldn't put a 200 watt solar panel on the roof of the truck (not the folding portable panel) so it literally is charging itself all the time during the day and then eventually it'll catch up and be charged and then stay charged all the time.
    Run it down at night and then sun charge it during the day while you're driving with the sun and the solar panel will provide shade for the top cabin of the truck.

So if you were to release the wave ac unit from add on battery and take the AC unit off leaving the external battery free, can you lift it up and see if it will fit into the side of the delta max extra battery 1 compartment inlet plug? Essentially bypassing the unit locked on the wave battery and charging it via AC. It will kill your batteries really quickly! And honestly idk how much help this will be, as a truck driver my self I don't think this is powerful enough to cool your truck down when it's 100f out and the sun is hitting your truck and just heating it up. I tried a 14,000 btu portable room a/c unit from Costco and it was having a hard time keeping the cab at a comfortable temperature, when the sun was out it will literally trun the truck into an oven. But the same 14,000 btu unit would cool down a decent room in the house since the house has instalation and it keeps the air in. Once the sun sets down the air will start slowly cooling in the truck. But still didn't do the best job cooling. I did order one of those units just to try out in the truck, hopefully it will cool down the truck (highly doubt it) or at least the cold air blowing into the bed will be enough to sleep comfortably.

    Why would you be sucking fresh hot air from outside, you should be sucking air from inside the cab, as AC cools the air it'll suck the cool air back through the AC and make it even cooler.

    I did see the Mark 2 and it only has around 2300BTUs and when you compare that with the Wave. The Wave would blow the Mark 2 out of the water.

      I just went through this personally. I ordered the wave and after I placed the order Ecowave sent a confirmation email stating that they won't ship to a p.o. box.
