How mach price
If ya have the delta pro u don't need to buy the bundle u can just get the Portable air conditioner and it will be much nicer on the wallet but u will have advantage especially if ya top it off with solar u can pretty much run the AC near infinite amount of time. During long term blackouts that could be a complete life saver for some people.
These portable batteries and air conditioners are game changers. We camp so much and rely on these portable power stations and they work well. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate and value all the test you run on these products.
Thanks for the actual review on how the Wave really performs. I think this will be perfect for my tent when I am out camping in the woods.
This is a game changer to add ac to a van build with a delta pro system. Great review
Excellent, thank you. Was looking for a review exactly like this. I knew DC was going to be more efficient, but now we know how much more.
Great Video...Lets get one thing straight Professor Hobo...we don't " Have " to watch the whole video "WE GET" to watch the whole video!!!! I will sometimes watch the same video 3 or 4 times to make sure I am Not missing anything...You Rock thanks
I'll start saving. Meanwhile I've got a $7 usb fan and a Jackery 160.
It won't freeze ya but it uses 1 watt on low.
great review, this is a total game changer for those of us who have small off-grid shantys.
How would one living in an off the grid shanty afford this unit? Save the money and get better digs

Thank you for your follow-up review on the EcoFlow Wave. I'm glad that I found and subscribed to your channel.
Great review. Tells us exactly what we need to know.
Tom, I patiently waited for Jean-Luc Picard and you did not disappoint! Although, I gotta admit, you made good sport out of keeping me guessing if you were gonna go there or not: well played! And, the surprised Odin meow during Jim Doozy got a laugh out of me! Your attention to detail does not go unnoticed. Bravo Hobo!
That digital rotary knob is really getting to me. I like it a lot. I also like the design and portability of the Wave
I would have to agree that it is phenomenal to charge that battery from 0-80% in less than an hour. It charges definitely faster than my battery bank.
Real game changer for areas with summer load shedding. I never knew these existed.
HELLS YEAH. Fantastic review my man..!!!! Always enjoy your review videos. Thanks again and keep up the reviews.
Thanks for the clarity on price. I made that mistake as many people did.
I'm anxious to see what more competitors come up with in the future. I remember diesel heaters like webastos having the market cornered and now there are knock offs everywhere! 😆
Love the Star Trek clip! 💡💡💡💡 Great review. Awesome to know that the technology I'll need when I finally do a van build is here! (2000 years later) Nothing but improvements can happen between now and then! ODIN !!!!!!
I totally agree with you but I don't really need one or I would test with my new Bluetti AC500 coming soon.
Thank you I've been waiting on the dc power specs. I have the Ecoflow Delta Max.
I'M REALLY HOPING FOR MORE COMPITITION ON THE DC AC! ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO! ALWAYS THUMBS UP!
EcoFlow is really doing well with their ancillaries and accessories.
LOVE your videos and the guitar afterward was a whole lot of fun!
Whew! It took viewing your videos and some from Tech Made Easy to understand this product. It isn't that complicated, but I was having a hard time determining the real benefit of this product and what cords/batteries/generators are necessary. I appreciate the info directed to people outside the EcoFlow ecosystem.
Takeaway: A Delta Pro or Max makes the best use of this product. The Wave can function on any brand solar generator, but the additional power draw and shorter runtime may mean it isn't worth the price vs. a small window a/c.
Can you recommend what is best for using indoors during blackouts after hurricanes (with solar panels)?
Nice job, thanks! They lost me on only working with their products (I’m using a Bluetti) plus the LONG solar charge times is a complete waste, why even bother.
I really appreciate your honest thorough reviews!
Excellent review. That would be great for a small area. Very efficient. 🙂👍
Thanks for showing us the difference between DC and AC power usage, pretty interesting that it works on the Delta Max power stations too! I thought it was limited to the Pro units only!
Jason how about telling us what connector to buy to run in directly off our LIFEPO4 homemade battery banks?
Another excellent review from HOBOTECH ❄️ So glad I have one on the way and will pair nicely with my Delta Pro.
Sounds like a great Eco-product built for off grid cool living. Your certainly did a great review on it.
Looks like the BougeRV portable air conditioner debuted today... Looking forward to your review on that one!
What a chilling review ... 🙂
Thanks for giving me peace of mind in my purchase!
Excellent analysis! I got the early bird special with the Delta Max, and your test results are better than I expected. All I have to do now is figure out how to hook it up in my trailer and get some solar panels. Thank you again for your tests! Being able to dry camp with some AC will open up a lot more options.
As always, thank you for an excellent informative video
Wow thank you for your hard work. I believe this is worth grabbing!!!!!
First vid i have seen from you and i loved it!
This unit is much better than the other portable AC you reviewed. I am considering it, lol.
My only gripe! It should be compatible with all Delta products, including the Delta Mini! Produce an adapter of some sort and I’m in! 😉
Great review and I almost bought this unit because I travel in a small RV that has exactly the same Walmart window air as you have. I have 3 100AH LifePo4 batteries that I use with a 1200W inverter. The highest I've ever seen was 480. Generally, it runs around 360 - 460 watts off the inverter. I already had the batteries and 900 watts of solar panels. I can run it a little over 7 hours without the panels, more with them. Usually I time my on/off usage to cover the heat of the day. If I didn't already have this working for me, I'd buy the Wave in a heartbeat.
7 hours and you probably spend more than a used car installing all that garbage, what happened to generators?
A window unit will be more efficient in reality. This thing will have heat bleed into the cabin due to the hose setup unless you can stick the condenser out the side like a window unit. I’ve had an 8000 btu window unit outperform my 13000 btu dual hose portable and I worked hard to insulate the hoses.
@@KTMcaptain Agreed. I've made 3 tests with existing LifePo4 batteries running in the heat of the day and I get around 8 hours without having to buy additional equipment. Plus I have enough solar to almost run the air directly but of course I won't be doing that.
@@morrisonandrew2521 Generators have their use especially if you are just a weekend camper or go out a couple times per years. However, if you stay out for extended periods they are noisy and produce fumes that make your campsite feel like you are camping at a truck stop. To say nothing of buying gas and oil to keep it running. I already have the panels and batteries and can cool my RV through the heat of the day without spending a dime for additional equipment or use.
@@rtpman1953 my generator makes a nice humming noise that lulls me to sleep haha. Idk what fumes since it puts so little and is positioned away from us, but 💯 it’s for a few days max. I’m not investing in thousands of dollars of solar for the 20 or so days a year I’m actually off-grid. Especially when I got my 2kw Honda for free haha. But I will say a battery complements it nicely. I think a hybrid unit would be amazing, say a 1kw generator targeting 10+ hrs per gallon and a 1kwh LFP battery would allow the generator to produce at maximum efficiency cycling on/off while using the battery. Problem with mine is that anything under 500-600 watts is wasted. Can really extend run times and even include solar control where the system will choose which type of generation for the condition. But pure solar is too bulky, too expensive, and I don’t have the room to even bring it so I’d be mounting it onto my roof which is off ATM. lol.
Thank youuu for your videos and all information. I love 💕 that guy singing...
Thank you for the update.
AWESOME. Thanks for the video.
Wow! This portable AC is a BEAST! Can't wait for the rest of the guys to get on this level and make similar beasts...hopefully, maybe...please
Nice spec review.good job on the review.
So when do we think we will see a Bluetti AC? Or Zero Breeze up there game?
To bad Eco Flow made it that it only works with their product. I think I'd spend my money on a Dometic RTX2000 for a build out. But I have to say I really love the idea. Especially for seasonally camping. One could easily carry what they need not have everything all year round. Lugging all they added weight load. Winters you hook up the Diesel Heater, summers you attach the AC. Plug and play systems we are only going to see more and more. Ie coolers with battery's, ACs with battery's, next it will be diesel heaters with battery. Great stuff! You will have a endless supply of reviews. 😂 might need to get a few assistance to keep up.
Another a top notch review! Thank you for your true honest.

Really good review and information. I have just been a random viewer for a while, but this made me subscribe to your channel. Yeah I know, I should have a long time ago. Thanks and take care fella.
I just love that proving music...🤣🤣
thank you for your great video. you are one of the only ones who really understands electronics and whom i trust. Please keep up the good work! Can you tell me whether it is possible to operate the ecoflow wave with its own lifepo4 battery via DC? Regards from Switzerland
zero breeze got competition now! glad to see more competition in these area.
Just discovered this product a couple weeks after purchasing a Zero Breeze. I've almost lost sleep over the thought of the value discrepancy between the two, with the EcoFlow clearly being of higher value. I believe my only mental saving grace here is the EcoFlow Wave is larger and does consume more power. However, it has twice the BTU for basically the same price. My application is a converted camper van BTW. I'm still in the return window for the ZB but think I'll stick with that for now... even though that thought haunts me a little....
I would return the Zero. I have watched many Zero reviews (mostly shills promoting it for a freebie) and this review (Hobotech) really points out the big difference in power usage. But in addition that very low BTU output from Zero means it will not adequately cool a van or vehicle or small room (assuming that is your use, as it would be mine). The Zero is only really for "personal" cooling (directly on one person). Also saw a Bob Wells review, where he essentially says the Zero is not recommended because it will not cool a vehicle down. He pointed out that if blowing directly on his face, or body it would cool him, but if he just moved a few feet from the output, it was not cool in his vehicle. I saw another honest review that said about the same (Zero only cools if you are in direct line of the output, and close to it).
Been waiting for this
Great review 👍
This would be great for semi’s and rv’s!
May have to get one of these with the battery for my old truck that now has no AC in Texas. LOL
Always love your review shows. 👍 Do you know of any heat pumps small enough to run on any of these solar battery systems? Have you tried any of the Peilter thermal electric generators? I'm wondering if that could be combined into a system to charge a battery while your creating a temperature difference between indoor/outdoor air to recapture additional energy?
FYI: Price on this item on Ecoflow's webpage is now listed as $USD 1499.00. That amounts to $USD 200.00 higher than when you did your review.
This video was released 7 months ago. Of course the price went up.
Your dollars are worth a lot less today.
I would agree that the Wave is pretty efficient since it is a 4000BTUs air conditioner.
Thank you for the review. I have my bundle order and waiting for it. I will be use it in a 12x6x6 cargo trailer that has 1" foam board here in Florida. Will see how well it works.
I’m planning on doing essentially the same here in Texas for my tool trailer. Going to foam the gaps between my plywood walls and the sheet metal outsides as well.
wonderful review
Definitely my favorite

Thanks Professor!
I was actually in the "checkout" phase of ordering one until Hobo said that we couldn't use our existing So-gens or DC power system. They are marginalizing a MASSIVE portion of the their market by making it an "Eco Flow only" product for DC use.
For Sailors, Van Living, or Campers, most of us already have so-gens or an existing DC power system. We would choose a zero breeze over this if it meant saving $2000+ dollars over having to order an entirely new, separate so-gen. Seems like such a silly decision.
They have no incentive to allow 3rd party charging. There is nothing stopping you from 1) fabing your own cable to use with a 48v battery or 2) charging the a/c battery with a 3rd party sogen (and taking the conversion loss).
@Gabriel Marshman
Note the Eco Flow has double the cooling capacity (1200W) vs the Zero Breeze (650W). And you could get a decent pure sine inverter for $200-400 and run this off of AC or fab your own wire by buying one of the Delta max extra battery cables and cutting it open / splicing it together. No need for an extra $2000+?
But I feel your pain, I would love to hook this up directly to my trailer's 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 and get a DC-DC converter. But for now we already have a Giandel 2200W pure sine inverter hooked up to our battery so we're just buying the base unit without a battery and will run it on AC power through the inverter taking the efficiency losses. If we find the losses are too much we'll buy the battery and run it off DC and charge the rest of the day or look into fabbing our own cable to hook directly to our trailer battery bank.
I have to test it out but based on my calculation on AC power the max load is 500W from the EcoFlow. When my solar is fully pumping the output voltage to the battery is ~14.6V. So total amps consumed by the EcoFlow = 500W/~14.6V ~ 35 A. My solar can provide about 27 A at that voltage (400W / 14.6 V) so really I'd be consuming about 7-8 A from my battery. These are very rough calculations but yea.
@@DAKOTARAMOS geez all thet typing just to spread incorrect inormation. Go back and redo your research about the zero breeze mark 2 ..you will learn something new lol. Swamp Cooler. Try again
@@1fastmx5 my apologies, you're right. I must have been thinking of another model. I removed that from my previous comment, either way the fact does remain the Zero Breeze has half the cooling capacity / power in roughly the same price range. That's a huge difference in my opinion. You could buy a decent pure sine inverter for $200-400 and use AC to power this or fab your own wire without having to spend the $2000 Gabriel was talking about... that was the intention of all that typing.
@@DAKOTARAMOS agreed 👍 I have the zero breeze and now this on order
Professor request: Tear that AC unit open and find out the brand/model of its compressor. THANK YOU
There has to be a hack that you can tweak the Ecoflow wave to allowed it to use other DC power source.
Om sure it's just a proprietary plug style. Just make your own chord.
Cool review.
Saving this one.
Ecoflow must have changed how the max power mode works when on battery.
I got my Wave delivered yesterday and have been testing it now for over 12 hours.
On AC power with max cooling and max fan speed, the Wave pulls around 630 watts. On DC power, this drops to 530watts.
On Eco mode, it can go up to the same wattage usage as above, but after some time it will eventually start coming down. Eventually after about 2 hours it seems to have settled around 350watts on AC power and 300watts on DC power.
This testing was done using a Delta Pro as a power source for both AC and DC.
Edit: Tomorrow I plan on testing how long I can run the Wave on max cooling hooked up to a Delta Pro with a pair of 100watt solar panels, as this is going to be its primary setup while I travel.
Watch all 3 videos about this product. You're forgetting a step to save even more power.
@@HOBOTECH I haven't tested usage with the timer yet, but I did see in your other video that the timer will slow the compressor down.
I think using the timer at night is going to he great, as I agree with you about this A/C loud. Most of the "ugly" noise from this unit is from the compressor, and I am hoping that slowing it down gets ride of most of those compressor sounds.
What peaked my interest is that my unit is behaving differently than your unit when on Max cooling and Max fan on both DC and AC. My unit is using a lot more power than what your unit is using.
In fact, according to my Delta Pro, the Wave draws as much as 630watts on AC power with max cooling and fan, which is higher than the 600watts the manual says is the Max power usage.
Think could be a good option for a Tiny House… particularly in an off-grid location.
Great video sir.
Great video. Thanks for posting. The only thing I dislike about the AC200P is the weight if it. At around 61lbs. I don' think it is really portable to move around.
😳😳😳 61 lbs?!? That's not exactly portable 😢
Makes me wish they had a replacement DC roof air conditioner to replace the Coleman AC version on my RV. Maybe soon?
I was just about to pull the trigger on Zero Breeze a week ago when I realized ExoFlow Wave is coming out ... and I missed the pre-order. Smh ... I don't have immediate use of a portal yet, so I guess I will wait for a deal to bring it close to the pre-order price of $1,199. It's listed for $1,499 now.
Great job Prof Hobo. I am beginning to think that the timer mode literally calculate the compressor time and sets up a duty cycle time for the compressor. So if you set the timer to run for 6 hours on a battery that is not 2000whrs, it will interrupt the compressor to get there regardless of temperature setting.
It actually does reduce the compressor speed to stretch runtime.
If i had the extra money would definitely buy one.
Wave 2 coming out, should be good for my doggo
Great review.
Thank you for doing this video! A lot of good information here. I was really hoping you were just going to run the AC unit itself off of solar alone. I suppose you would need 800 watts of power to run that AC 24/7? Maybe even 1000 watts of solar if you just wanted to keep that battery charged up all the time for a small buffer of cloud cover. However, a small mini split will do better than this if you want to DIY it. I suppose for a about 4K bucks, you could get (3) 300 watt panels ($1000), 4 100 amp lithium batteries from amazon around 500 a pop ($2000) and a decent charge controller, and a Mr cool mini split ac system, another plus all the wiring and connectors another ($1000). That would probably take care of the system. Those batteries would provide probably over 4 days of continues run time. However, if you just wanted to run the system for 12 hours you could cut that price down a bit. There is video on youtube where a guy is using a 9000 BTU mini split on his van that runs all day long on 3 330 watt panels. Just search "promaster mini split jamies world" on youtube. Too bad they didn't make 4000 BTU mini split! ;) Note, Will Poowse did a review on the ecoflow delta pro.
How much Watt does the wave draw during maximum cooling mode?
Love the Ramstein!
I saw some video, not to sound like an airhead, that indicated anything I purchase from China won't work if the SHTF I just bought the River bundle with te solar generator and panel. I'm on a fixed income and it's all I was able to afford. I wish they would make a smaller version of the wave...we're in Texas with 109 with the heat index. Thanks for posting

Excellent content! TY
I wonder how is the maintenance of that aircon?
The cleaning of the evaporator and condenser
Thanks for the review good Sir! Conclusion: No Sale
Good honest review. I would not recommend buying it with the battery attached. If the Wave quits working, the battery is totally useless. Why didn’t EcoFlow give the battery some additional functionality like charging a cell phone, tablet, or computer. After the sale price, the battery will cost around $800 to $900. That is a lot of money for a battery that does nothing more than run the Wave for a very short time. Based on the sales I have seen from the presale, the wave is overpriced for most people. I would expect EcoFlow to have to lower the price or at least give more functionality to the battery. I would not buy it at this time.
Excellent follow up ! Is that curtain the one you stand behind when you grant “wishes” to strangers ?
Anyway it can be made to work with a Bluette AC 200? Cause that's what a got. Good video!
Mighty impressive.
Per Tech Made Easy the DC run wattage was close to 480 watts with a runtime of 7.5 hours on the 3600Wh battery.
byder car 4 to 5 jurs
I just bought a regular window AC unit with twice the BTUs for a quarter the price of this thing, and an extra battery to power it. Saved a $grand plus added the expected total life of the AC. Not ideal for a tent but I'm using it for my house.
Its about the power. The portability, the charging. Off grid. Dohhhh
@Almost there I live on a boat. I am as off grid as you can get. A proper marine aircon is 10,000 usd. I have 800 watts solar and a diesel engine . A decent size battery bank. 700 amp hours .This aircon is a inverter type. So slow start compressor A key feature for operating off batterys And runs off anything you want A/C or DC
Its portable. You can direct to flow of inflow and outflow.
I can sail across the ocean and have A/C
You just havent thought it through enough to get it.
Apples to oranges. Everyone keeps forgetting this is for PORTABLE USE.
Just what the affluent prepper needs for shtf.
Thanks a lot !
Ive been using my Delta pro + extra battery as a way to offset my electric bill by running a small 4000btu wall AC and fan during the peak hours of the day. Ive managed to shave 30% off my electric bill by charging the delta pro at off peak hours. Still in testing mode, but WOW
Have you done the economics? Assuming it doesnt break, on average electricity bill it will take 9 years to break even.
@@CAMAPKUN assuming I didn’t get value from it elsewhere. This was more of a side benefit for me.
Thanks!
I have the delta pro 800w of solar looking to get the wave 2 to cool a minivan camper waiting for them to give it to people like you to review it. If it kicks off when it’s at temp it would go a long way also wave 2 has the heat pump
Great video!!!
Excellent review, thank you. But in my use case, I think if I were to buy it standalone, I would run it off the inverter on my AC200p. I would sacrifice the efficiency loss for the amount of times I would actually use this. I think the cost of buying a Delta product for me at this point to run it at its most efficient is outweighed by how much actual use I would make of it. There just aren't that many hot days in my neck of the woods, and if a heat wave does occur, I probably am not out camping. I think it's a design flaw that this unit cannot run on any brand sogen's DC output.
I agree, I was actually in the "checkout" phase of ordering one until Hobo said that. They are marginalizing a MASSIVE portion of the market by making it an Eco Flow only product for DC use.

It's not a design flaw. It is by design. I believe the battery is 48v so no sogens even output that anyway.
@@HOBOTECH Point taken. It would, however, be nice to have a device like the Wave designed to run off any sogen's DC output. If compressors for coolers can run off 12v DC, why not small A/C units?
@@twloughlin It's an amps thing. Pulling up to 500w through 12v means huge thick 50A cables. 48v also makes it run far more efficient than 12v.
Can this be ran off a diy 48v battery bank? Do you have to have an ecoflow?
Thanks for the info 👍 Do have a question..what else can be hooked to the second unit- the battery max?
Your thermometers are right next to the unit. Put thermometer across the room, near the ceiling, in the corner. Then run your test.
Very, very interesting. Can the unit work from on DC from my lithium batteries?
Another great review, complete with everything you need to know about this product. All I need to know is that its primary advantage of efficiency is only achieved when using their proprietary battery solution. Call me a starry-eyed dreamer, but things are either open-source or I'm just not interested.
Yeah I’m waiting to see if I can hack the cable and just tie in to my deep cycle marine batteries
