- In this tutorial I breakdown how to use Koala Sampler's SIDECHAIN COMPRESSOR in conjunction with the Roland SP-404MKII.

Tambien se puede hacer “sidechain fantasma”con un kick poniéndolo en un canal al mixer de koala sampler con el efecto sidechain pero en mute el canal. Ese kick en mute desde el mixer va hacer sidechain al canal que tu quieras asignar el efecto. (el canal que va dirigido el sidechain fantasma debe tener en el mixer el efecto sidechain hacia el kick fantasma para que funcione)y lo bueno de eso es que no necesitas el impacto de un kick necesariamente para que haga el efecto puedes hacer el sidechain donde tu quieras en el patron que quieras hacer el efecto. Es muy usado en lo-fi modernos de instagram por ejemplo. Un saludo😉✨🎹

With the new integration is there an easy way to copy (not resample) samples from sp404 mkii to koala?

What adapter do u use to connect the iphone w the sp?? I cant with the normal cable usb c to iphone
Yeah, I tried that too…I think only the iphone lightning to usb camera adaptor works for sp404mk2

@@Nonjuror someone said you can only change on the desktop version but now I see you can do it. Probably it is because of the adapter you use. Directly via usb into my samsung phone doesn't work.
@N-spireyourbeats that’s a real bummer, mk2 only talks to iphones with that camera adaptor, I tried to use other adaptors n never had any luck.

Thanks mate, I cut it out of a roll of laminate I found at the hardware store, it kinda of feels like running your hand over a pool table.
You don't also put any compression on the master in koala, just the side chain ?
To do this just the sidechain, but you can add whatever else like the bit crush - whatever you add is only going to effect the samples on Koala, not the 404. For “master” fx like comp / vinyl sim that’s over on the 404.
@@Nonjuror I'm actually just using koala ..but still trying this , putting side chain on all the samples & using drums as source.( All Ive ever done before is just the kick, along w master comp). It's sounding pretty nice ..I've been trying to find ways to get as close to og404/303 vinyl sim compression as possible. Adding more comp on the master ( the og slider compressor ) might be a little too much I'm not sure
@Dru_Won ahhh if I’m using just Koala I’d be running the kick n snare to Bus A then whatever samples to sidechain to Bus B which is probably what you’re
Doing, then on the Master Bus I’d have the bit crusher (to drop it to like 12 bit, 40kHz) then Compressor & Limiter but both of them only doing small amounts (maybe like -2dB to start with), I find multiple types of compressors doing little can be better than one smashing it - for that old school 303 / 404OG comp sound.

Game! So with this, how could you record a full beat with settings applied? Would you run audio out into another sampler?
You can resample it all together on the mk2 - so at the end of the audio chain both the mk2 & koala (as ext source) head into bus 3 / 4 and you can resample the whole thing to a pad or out of the line out into your interface etc…
