When I sidechain in koala and I work with smaller chops I’ll sometimes put on a little bit of gate effect too, it makes this choppy start to the sample and takes some of the bass away (and also does that to the kick so you might need a kick with some high end) the choppyness is the key though 😀
Yeah, good call. I've used this technique via increasing the attack of the chopped sample so that it scoops off the front until the kick has finished. Less choppy but essentially your versions gives the same result. I like Michael's version because it offers a different end result that sounds crustier to my ears. (This is a good thing)

The power bank only output 5v, you need to buy another line which can convert 5v into 9v, but make sure you got the right polarity and jack size. You may search it on google or alipress
There’s no way to get more of a grid on when recording in sequence mode is there like a grid per instead of just per bar?? I do use a Bluetooth speaker when I’m in work and the delay does really mess with the timing. Oh and it’s cause it’s an iPhone. With no jack that I do Bluetooth also, so a grid would be nice. The quantise I don’t think works for me
Is there a reason for sampling your playing to another pad first? Would it work the same if you recorded to a pattern and did the rest of the steps based on that?
It works for pattern play and live play too, but if you resample kick with chops then compress it, you can get more control of the sidechain amount and fine tune it by ear
Also it depends on how you want to use sidechain, if you only want melodic chops duck from kick drum, then this is the only way to achieve that, otherwise every thing would duck each other, cuz it’s a compressor, it compresses the whole level

Thanks man, they share almost the same workflow, only koala has some shortcuts to chain your sequences ( drag sequence to another then add to end)

Yes you can, it doesn’t has a proper pad hold function for now, but there’s a way to get around. Koala does has master fx.

If you want to duck them, you can record those sounds onto the melodic track, let it get ducked by kick all together.

Never use Bluetooth speaker for live input notes, try some cheap adaptor which has usb+lighting+3.5mm jack.

Resample with More Bass FX on, or low pass filt your sample then boost it up, trigger it and original one at the same time, then resample.
