This is a feature of Studio One that I hadn't explored. Now that I've seen your detailed video, I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Hey Mike. If I may, I'd like to add a couple of "got-chas" to be aware of when using the Arranger Track. These were simple things that drove me nuts until I figured out what was going on.
    1. Make sure you have "snap to grid" turned on. If you don't, some of the sections you define in the Arranger Track will not fall exactly on the beat markers. Then when you start copying and moving sections around, there inevitably will be very thin little events left over in the track that you won't notice... those in turn will cause pops and cracks in the track when it is played. When this happened to me, I would have to zoom in really closely and look for leftover "sliver-events" and delete them to get rid of those pesky little popping creatures. Do yourself a favor and make sure "snap to grid" is turned on before building your Arranger Track... and you will thank me. 😋
    2. Keep in mind when you begin moving, inserting, and deleting sections of the Arranger Track, EVERYTHING will be sliced and diced, including tracks that might not be visible. Just because you can't see track, doesn't mean the "cake knife" of the Arranger Track will ignore them. If you don't want some of your hidden tracks to be "chopped and diced", be sure to lock them before making them invisible.
Sure, those locked and invisible tracks will be way out of sync with your visible working tracks, but those hidden tracks might contain some events that you really like and would like to use later. ... So again, be sure to lock any hidden tracks you want to keep "as is" before using the Arranger Track to move things around. Once again.... You are welcome. 🤣😅😂

Scratch pad sounds awesome. Ableton being left in the dust as I switch to S1, There's a learning curve but your videos are REALLY helping. The Presonus ones are just confusing!

what's really cool about this is the segment on Delete Range as if you are using the Chord track with the Arranger, it also removes the chords as well vs. deleting only the segment of the track which leaves all the useless Chord remnants behind. Thanks for this helpful tutorial.

I had an issue with arranger when moving parts from one tempo area to a different tempo area. The real issue is me not knowing what I am doing and I bailed on the changes because I was jacking up the tune every time I tried it. I need to play with this scenario and see if I can figure it out. Love arranger and use it all the time. Great video. Thanks

I find this equivalent arranger track in Cubase much better than the arranger in S1 - where you have to move each arrange part by hand, if you want to hear the new sequence.
In Cubase you can create multiple playlists!! on the fly and with one click: BOOM! arrange ist ready. Much faster workflow and creative hearing, I must say.

Hi Mike, enjoying all your videos/lessons.
I brought the ‘Artist’ version of S1 a few months ago after recommendations from my local music shop and was very happy with it at first, but I’m slowly realising that many of the best bits are not included in this version and I will need to pay another £400 to get all the features….. Yes, the shop should have mentioned this, but that’s another story.
I think it would be a good idea to make a video pointing out will be missing if you don’t buy the full version.
Many thanks and up the great work.

Great video instruction on the Arranger Track, Mike! Thanks for creating this and posting it. I think it's one of the better tutorials/explanations of that feature yet, not overly complicated, but yet gets the points across. Also, a lesson video on the Scratch Pad would be welcome.

I have used arranger and scratchpad for a few years! While the technology is there what it can do to the sound is an issue and as you never raised this or played any of the tracks after swapping the sections around!
    Use with care!

Thank you mate, great video once again!
Do you do 1 to 1 tuition over zoom, etc? The reason I'm asking is that as a new user of S1, I can watch as many videos as it's humanly possible to watch, but still have this feeling I'm doing something wrong or I'm missing something - particularly when recording. I tend to slightly (ie, massively) overthink things and no amount of videos help with that.
Regardless, please, keep up the fantastic work, your tutorials are an absolute godsend!

I watched a video in which you mentioned having another UA-cam channel you have where you reviewed hardware and stuff. I can't seem to figure out which one that was, as I've been watching this channel's content extensively so searching my history has been futile. If you could add that link in your video post's details, that would help me find it.

Great tutorial! Couple of questions: 1) Is there a way to make the Arranger stop "guessing" at the next section and just use a default word like "Section" or something all the time? 2) Is there a way to duplicate a section without it splicing everything below, i.e. it just copies the section name in the Arranger track alone? Thanks!

I would like to see arranger track on intros with complex tempo variations (rubato) of different length. Can I toggle them one or the other (A vs B) - do they output as selected to project or do I need to make a final commit first?

Superb! Super useful. I know all these things but I can't stop watching your videos! haha. One noob question: I would really like to limit the color options in the color palette. I just need 10 specific colors and the rest confuse me when I'm trying to standarize my color scheme. Is there a way Mike? Thanks as always for your amazing videos. Cheers

Do you have to commit to an arrangement? Meaning: in cakewalk you can preview an arrangement without moving audio around. Looks like Studio one you have to.move audio around . You can't preview the arrangement.

One issue that I had with arranger is that my song had several clip or region fades and removing a region duplicated those fades in the middle of the song.

  • @stephencarter8625
    @stephencarter8625 Рік тому

Hi Mike - If your song has been ‘Tempo Mapped’ does the mapping move/duplicate/delete with the modified section/range ? I’ve tried to delete a section (time) at the beginning of a tempo mapped song and it messes the timing completely!

Hey Mike! I am a studio one user, I am a beginner in music production, I am a singer song writer. I was wondering if it’s possible for me to teach me music production, like take me under your wing and share your knowledge with me. I have been struggling to learn music production. I have all the gear you have recommended in your videos and I have studio one professional. Please are you able to teach me in your spare time if at all you have some free time to squeeze me in? 🙏🙏🙏
