This might be a stupid question but could I just get some headphones with an adjustable volume toggle instead? Or is your way here the only way to adjust volume? Thanks
Yes, I think that is the simple answer. Only you would have a wire connection to the detector and person, which can be a pain sometimes.
Cheers. I’ll be hunting with someone else so headphones will be the way to go for me. I don’t want to risk modifications so It’s headphones and hope I don’t go deaf :D. Thanks for the help

Great little upgrade. I have a couple of these clones and they are soo good, not to mention cheap. What are the resistance values of those potentiometers?
I'd need to check which one I used, it seems to work well with no problems.

I have the same metal detector model as you. Your tx850 work well? Also with high Gain
Hi thanks for the comment, yes its s pretty good detector, iv found few good things including a bit of gold and old hammerd coin 👍. How are you getting on with you tx850?
@@HappyBees soso, too false signal and chattering, the hunting is near impossible. what coil connector do you have? with black screw or the metal screw?
Mine has the metal screw, iv not found it too jumpy along as I ground balance it manually

Does this mod still work two years later? I was wondering if grounding the third pot lug is really needed.
I dont think it's needed iv had no problems

Hello there im not sure if I used 1k ohm or 10k ohm it's been a long time since I did the modification. I am doing a video soon about adjustment of the sensitivity and vdi numbers, I can check when I open it and see.

To inform all readers
To adjust the volume of any device it is necessary to use logarithmic potentiometers not the linear type, this is because our ears is not linear in terms of sensitivity and using a linear potentiometer it would then be difficult to adjust the volume to the desired level.
Linear potentiometers can be recognized because they have an A after the value eg. 10Kohm A while the logarithmic ones have a B eg. 10 Kohm B.
Type B is used for volume adjustment on radios, amplifiers, etc ... Type A for all other uses.

What kind of disturbance are you getting? Is it while you detecting?

I used 10k but was advised after to use lower like 5k or 2k. It still works fine with the 10k though.

Tx -850 to adjust the setting for what the detector reads. I have a TX-850P and it's reading a quarter at a 78 Instead of 85-87 like it should . Can you find it for me and let me know where it's at.
Hi there yes there is a way to adjust the sensitivity once you open up the detector to be able to tune it up
@@HappyBees well we got it calibrated by accidentally cut the electronic strap getting into the box ..so I lost my discrimination so my buddy ordered in a new strap and will install it Monday or Tuesday so then it will be back to normal God willin

You only need to interrupte the wire from the speaker to the headphone socket the red wire, cut it then add the volume nob in-between

Both your video and site say to use a logarithmic A1K 1K ohm potentiometer. Here you say the opposite. Which is it? Logarithmic or Linear???

Find the wire from the headphone plug that go's to the speaker and cut that, wire it to the pentiomitor bottom pin, then to the top pin you put the wire that comes from the speaker 🔊 👍
