There is a very high chance it was assembled in Poland, near Wrocław city. My wife worked there around this time in one of many LG factories. They produced most of the parts there, including PCBs and the displays themselves. These days they switched to battery production. Greetings from Poland 🎉
Poland apparently has evolved a lot, I've been buying some products made in Poland ranging from lamps, inductive sensors, lubricants, and many other random things and I've been very satisfied with their quality, also made some orders on TME electronics store that also is a Polish company and the service is really good.

@@_________________404 What the famous report with the well-cooked insect says is, "First actual case of a bug being found?" with a question mark. I got one of those TV/monitors in the past for very cheap (R$ 150 (likely 30 USD) back in 2015 - people don't throw away stuff half-working in Brazil, they tend to sell, even purely e-waste here is sold instead of given, but anyway). The problem was the same, broken buttons on the side and corroded remote control. My fix was just reprogramming an universal remote and using it to power it on and off. Used it as a computer monitor over the DVI port for years, even played the entire dying light first 2 games and GTA V when it came to PC on it. Still use it on my bench, but now I have to keep in unplugged when not in use, because if I leave it pluggen in the AC and powered off from the remote for too long (many days), when I try to power it, it won't wake up, and than for using it I need to plug it off, leave several minutes and than plug AC back on. Maybe aging caps but whatever.
Sounds like caps, it's easy to replace them in these older models. You'll probably need two 10V/1000uf and three 35v/1000, most of LG PSU's are almost the same.
I got my TV from the trash too. It's also an LG but older and bigger, 37 inches made in january 2007. It only needed a few capacitors to be replaced and it's still working now after 2 years. It's built like a tank with lots of metal inside and big heatsinks. It's possibly going to last another 18 years unlike modern TVs that die after warranty...
Can you believe i found an almost identical LG TV on the side of the road, which probably had been there for quite a while, and i got it working just fine? It had a bit of rust (especially in the scart and antenna connectors) and some spiders living in it, it was very dirty but after cleaning it it works just fine (included the rusted SCART)!
Nice video, interestingly when I find a TV in trash, theres about 50% Chance that it works, actually I found about 5 working tvs at one street over two years :D one was 55", almost didnt fit in my car
The Button unit would be an interesting 3D printing project. Of course the CAD design is a lot of work, but sometimes i like it to repair or make things better than new...

Danyk, just love it when you have a can of “fire extinhuisher” in hand. Australian, here….never had this Czech beer, but used to drink a fair bit of Kozel (Goat) beer…good stuff. Hete’s a story about LG….here in English speaking countries they say it means “Life’s Good”, but what it really means is the original Korean name of the company translated literally into English….”Lucky Goldstar”. It probably sounds cool in Korean, but sounds tacky and cheap in English….and their marketing department realized this fact, so now they do everything they can to “distance” themselves from the original name. I use it any and every time I can just to “rub it in”. Had a friend who worked in networking, he had to go to some seminar held by LG as they were using some LG networking gear…when he rocked up, he said to the LG representative at the door of the venue, “Ah, Lucky Goldstar”….the rep hissed back, “We don’t call it that anymore!” And don’t say it again. So my mate then said it as often as he could. I once put a comment under an LG advertissment…with a jingle from an inzurance company here in Australia. The original jingle goes, “Lucky Your’e with Aami”…I put, “Lucky your’e with Goldstar!” theyd removed it within 20 minutes! If you get any more LGbranded gear, make sure to mention it, particularly since those plastic button mechs deserve to have a name that befits their “high quality” design ethic! I picked up a flat pannel TV on the once a year junk put out day, the boost converter driving the LED backlight had just stopped, the MOSFET and its source current sense resistors were OK…the driver chip had simply stopped driving the gate of the ‘FET. I rebuilt it with a UC3842 and an LM358 for the current sense amp…got it going with chips with designs now about 45 years old….AND, we never use it! My wife watched the FIFA world cup final on it and that was it….all the rest of the time is you Tube on the computer!
I would love to have this model for its many analog connections, especially S-Video. I only have two LCD TVs that have S-Video, both are close to 20 years old with 4:3 screen , and the LCD panel in those has quite trash image quality due to their age (not due to aging, just from being early TFT technology - light grey black level, ghosting due to slow response, etc).
Lol, when television still looked like a television. I don't watch TV either. When I unsubscribe from the cable retranslator, she asked why in disbelief. Its sad to see devices dropped by trash bins. I recently saw a flat television ripped open by savage salvagers. Beats me what they recovered from it. The remains were utterly disfigured. They did it by the trashcans. I find it quite odd to have a blue LED in the direction of the monitor, on loudspeakers speakers or the computer. It obstructs the image somewhat. The beetle is desoldered. Amazing. I have an early LG television. It was sold with a small discount because it didn't have an MPEG-4 decoder. I have no need for it because a big screen requires wearing glasses, and it doesn't take a native resolution easily.
I have a similar one with only one HDMI out (judging by the comments, many had that LG TV/Monitor or a similar model) I really like all the inputs available, it was perfect for playing any video game consoles as long as you don't mind 720p max.
This looks almost identical to my LG monitor. It appears they replaced the logic board and made the red bulge to contain the speakers! What I found is that they assembled it without case screws - it all clips together! Oh and the other issue is it doesn't have VESA support, so without the stand you need to find a way to prop it up.
This is the point where I hope for some parametrized models to 3d print in the future, to rescue broken button panels where the chick let keys detached.

theese buttons are the weakest link, I still have Samsung T220HD, which is like a twin on the inside, and yeah switches developed resistance of their own and users started smashing buttons uncontrollably further escalating failure, so I ripped cable to these buttons on my unit while plastic shell was still intact. It's a monitor with tuner function, a decent one, and old school 16:10 (1680x1080x60p) one with good colors for TFT. I converted it to LED backlight using readily available 24" kit, disabling CCFL supply for good. As a bonus there is now an analog switch on the side that instantly tuns off-on the backlight, which turned out to be an ultimate screensaver (power too), very handy. Good bodge memories 😁 BTW, flex cables in the LCD assembly are in fact PCBs with bare silicon rectangular drivers mounted on the side each leading to its own block of columns, looks pretty expensive for the time.
There's been a pair of much more modern LCD TVs at my local park for a few weeks. I guess the owner decided must have decided they needed some outdoors recreation. At least that TV isn't afflicted by the terrible user interface and apps (not to mention factory spyware and ads!) that pretty much all modern TVs seem to have. There's no way I'd ever connect one to an Internet connection, I don't need the manufacturer listening to my private conversations, even if it's only their AI (and IT people trying to get their kicks). Actually, what I should do is connect the microphone to a noise generator circuit, and see how long it takes for them to remotely shutdown the TV.

Hang this TV over your workbench or service desk and use as a monitor. It is just perfect for displaying large schematic diagrams and service manuals. I'm doing it in my garage :)
In my own experience, you do run into a bit of a problem if the TV is only 720p (1366x768), especially if it's one on the larger side. You really have to zoom in a lot on certain schematics because the low resolution really can't resolve much detail!

Nice restoration. It's good to know there is someone else in Europe apart from me that doesn't watch TV. Great to see your dog putting in a guest appearance too.
ABS plastic gets brittle with age. And it's been decades since any large manufacturer has bothered with creating products that can be maintained and used for longer than a couple of years when there's a newer product version for sale.
"Can I fix it - or will I discombobulate it into destruction?" Nice to see it work - and I didn't know you had a dog too, haha! The power supply board shows signs of thermal damage, but the capacitors still look great. No venting whatsovever. Nice backlight converter circuit. Usually I see them powered from 24V, this one is an exception, it seems. A nice exercise in hardware debugging :)

The menus are a lot faster than the ones from a newer LG from around 2 years ago... They excruciatingly slow!
Podobnou televizi jsem měl doma jako dítě. Tlačítka u nich jsou špatně nadimenzovaný, to samý se stalo i na mojí. Jinak jsou to ale super televize bez všech "smart" nesmyslů, co mě dohání k šílenství.
Dayum that case is cheap! Can't be too bad if it still kind of works after 15 years though, and at least it's got multiple standard inputs and not just HDMI like today...
It seems like that bug got the "Bundy treatment" from the filter cap. Tuesday is fryday... Oh it's monday nvm
@@redpheonix1000 I don't have any large problems with displaying any detail in schematics. I can read service manual from other end of my garage. Really, I don't know what kind of problem are You talking me about.
@@niemam5825 Exactly, it is readable from far, but trying to read near like on a monitor, grid or whatever shows and it's distracting. Specially if schematic is scanned in badly. Atleast this is my experience with Samsung 32" 720p TV as monitor.
CRT repair and setup. :)
I bought a similar one for $5 to use with my garage desktop.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!! Very Dodgeee...
They actually assemble these in Poland. The display panel and boards are probably all from east asia and china though.
Well, maybe in Poland they just plug the connectors in :).
@@DiodeGoneWild Correct! Few (or more than few...) years ago TV's were assembled in Biskupuce Podgórne (near Wrocław) in LG Electronics. Today they're manufacturing car EV, HEV and PHEV traction, lithium-ion batteries
@@niemam5825 LG Poland also produces washers and I believe fridges too. Just like Samsung
I have the same LG screen. The remotes are not expensive. About 10 euros.
Nice restoration. It's good to know there is someone else in Europe apart from me that doesn't watch TV. Great to see your dog putting in a guest appearance too.
Infinity screen 2:48
Hey at least you got the damn thing to work you know cheap buttons obviously don't last at all
Guess you've got yourself a new PC monitor to use, or something... can't believe that thing worked!

The tv's in BRazil only have 2 connectors on the back. This one has infinite haha
ABS plastic gets brittle with age. And it's been decades since any large manufacturer has bothered with creating products that can be maintained and used for longer than a couple of years when there's a newer product version for sale.

Beautiful Ghetto Repair lol 😂😂😂
"Can I fix it - or will I discombobulate it into destruction?"
Nice to see it work - and I didn't know you had a dog too, haha!
The power supply board shows signs of thermal damage, but the capacitors still look great. No venting whatsovever.
Nice backlight converter circuit. Usually I see them powered from 24V, this one is an exception, it seems.
A nice exercise in hardware debugging :)
Well, the bug actually looks like a cocroach. As Danyk would say.. "Nice!".
Nice ghetto fix!!! 👍👍👍👍
This is called gambiarra
1:50 a picture on a screen appears
Actually this TV might be assembled in Poland. LG have there a factory. At least LCD panels are made in Korea or Singapore, I believe. Other parts could be made almost entirely in Poland.
at least you try English talking the sub titles helped also good the tv turned on
Maybe in the next video you could feature the cat, the dog, the beer fire extinguisher and to top it off, yourself eating a trdelník 😀
The good things people throw away. It breaks my heart. How wealthy do people want to be? We live in a world of ridiculous luxury but I still hear people moaning. Weird
LG od lat ma swoje fabryki w Polsce

Without reading the comments, I'm going to guess a diode has failed and that this is an easy (once you know how) fix.
