Chaitanya Charan Das is a monk, spiritual mentor and author.
Building on his engineering degree from the Government College of Engineering, Pune, he has studied extensively the philosophical and sociological ramifications of modern science. Complementing his scientific education is his keen spiritual sensitivity honed by systematic and sympathetic study of the bhakti tradition for over two decades. He has been an invited speaker at several international conferences on the interface of science and spirituality, including the World Peace Conference 2006 and World Peace Congress 2008 organized by UNESCO. Based in India, he has given talks at colleges and companies all over the world from Australia to America. His writings appear regularly in several Indian newspapers including the reputed Speaking Tree column in The Times of India. Apart from 300 analytical articles (available at www.thespiritualscientist.com) and 4000 inspirational daily meditations on the Bhagavad-gita (available at www.gitadaily.com), he is the author of 25 books on a wide variety of subjects ranging from Science and spirituality, socio-cultural analysis of religion, and the ancient texts of India, especially the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad-gita
He is a member of ISKCON’s leading intellectual body, the Shastric Advisory Council, which offers scriptural advice to the GBC (Governing Body Commissioner). He is an associate editor of Back to Godhead, ISKCON’s global magazine. His writings in English have been translated into several foreign languages including German, Chinese and Romanian and several Indian languages including Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Hindi and Marathi.

One question was raised by big philosophers that Lord described his own theory in the form of Vedic literatures. Therefore we will not accept. As far as I rememberJaimini is the sage who raised this one. Let us know how to reconcile this issue by logic? They only understand logic.
One situation I was hoping would be discussed in this talk is when the claims made by प्रत्यक्ष and शब्द are mutually exclusive, meaning only one of them could be true, and by implication, the other would be necessarily false. One example is that of relative placements of earth, sun and moon. The purport of 8.10.38 conclusively establishes the position Prabhupada held. There are several similar examples.
It doesn't, because Prabhupada changed his position after a disciple pointed out that the battle did not take place on earth.
@@observer-uz9tf That retraction happened only for the context of that verse where Prabhupada mistook the battlefield to be earth. The point about Earth-Sun-Moon is a corollary -- it is a position Prabhupada held independently, and has nothing to do with the context of this verse.
@@sandy_vb There are other problems with 8.10.38 purport. The words "apparently" and "supposed" leave some room for other interpretations. My reading is that this purport alone does not establish his position. Other places may do it, though. I have not done a systematic study so I would not be able to tell either way.
@@observer-uz9tf are you saying that sun being closer to the earth than the moon is not a consistent position Prabhupada held?
@@sandy_vb this one purport does not seem to be conclusive, although all the other statements might well be.
Its time to start accepting and seeing bhagavatam as work of art. A work of art can be great and requires no scientific endorsement to capture peoples minds. The attempt to compete childishly with scientific findings seem unncessary and obfuscating the artistic endeavor of Vyasadev.
