1.Information systems and Information technology I are related and almost the same if not the same
2.that I lost the footage to show the different types of career make sure you read the screen though because I did write them down !
I hope people who have been struggling to choose between CS and IS have found clarity with this video

FROM EPIDEMIC
To pple who dont understand our career and who we are..as IS guys. .
Is experts , we are I. T experts with an understanding of the business world.
Whike on the contrary,
A computer scientist is a conputer expert who doesnt understand how businesses work.(they hv to take extra courses in business modules to understand the business world)
Do you spot the difference? I hope this helps you to choose careers.
Thank you so so much for making this video. I also really enjoyed listening to you and will definitely be coming back❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much 💓
Thanks. good info
Very informative ❤
IS is very broad and at NMU when it comes to Comp Sci you can do one in BSc or BCom. Mostly we do same modules from first year to final year including project except that in 2nd year they do Computer Networks, Data Structure and Algorithms. In 3rd they do Advanced Programming. And in the case of IS instead of the modules they do we do IS based courses. IS and IT are not really the same as you mentioned on your description, but are all a family including Computer Science. Otherwise you well explained other things.
In some institutions they do have a BSc in IS which makes it closely similar to BSc Computer Science, just as some Univeristies have BCom IS and BCom Computer which makes them more similar with few courses that makes them different.
Hey I did mathlit(70%),economics (60%),accounting(70%) and business studies in high school. Is it possible for me to do computer science or information systems with those subjects somehow???
So bcom cs is basically is?
@@LehlohonoloMohale-bh2hd Hey, you need pure math for computer science or IS
But for IT at NMU you can do it with Maths Lit
@sandilemanyoni5487 but at NWU they only need pure math for bsc IT but for bcom information systems they need pure math or mathlit
I feel like you didn't do Information Systems justice in this video but thanks there aren't a lot of videos talking about Information systems in UA-cam❤
You think so ?
Please feel free to add.
you explained Informatics well, in my diploma (TUT) final year project we are doing an Order Management System and we applying all the Business/System analysis, Project management, Business fundamentals, Process Testing and Enterprise Architecture knowledge we have acquired since 1st year, I regret not reading BABOK, PMBOK and other information systems books back in 1st year. but it is kinda a good course but I'm going a software dev path after completion of Informatics Dip.
I wonder how hard IS Degree is compared to a diploma....
thank you !!
If you want to business and computer science do information systems
Hi abongile
As someone who doesn’t like a Bsc or a Bcom degree, do you think doing a BA in information systems or Computer Science would be a good degree to do in terms of employer-ability
Yeah very good, for as long have the necessary skills you'll be valuable to the employee. One thing about doing a Tech major with Humanities based major is very useful for the future. There's tech field called Design Thinking and Human Computer Interact (HCI) which requires a critical thinker who's able to put human at the center of everything. The objective of technology is making lives easier and it is predicted that the 5th industrial revolution will be social evolution. Whatever happens on tech we have to ensure we don't put lives at risk so being a human-centered thinker in tech is very useful.
If you want to do both computer science and engineering then computer engineering
Hey Abongile I'm doing chem at university first year and I wanted to do Computer Science can I do a transfer to uct and do Comp Sci? as I do have an average of 90% on my matric
YESS!!! I'll actually make a video about transferring sometime in the coming weeks because I have been getting alot of questions about this. Make sure your notification bell is on so you get notified when I post
I also truly have to do some research because i don't know now
She's backkkkkk !!
If you just want to do computer science then computer science
hi Abongile do i need to write the NBT? to apply for the computer science
Yes you do
@@abongile_n so i should apply with both results for g11 and NBT?
Hey abongile I wanna apply at uct but my math mark on my grade 11 report is 69% which doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Comp science what advice can you give ❤
Apply you actually do qualify. Yes the minimum is 70% but there are also many factor that contribute to your acceptance. Your school , ethnicity and gender i assume. Definitely apply
@@abongile_nwhat is the requirement for bcom in IS
Information system needs someone whom was focused on Business Studies at high school😂
Different from history 😫🤣
Hey
What's the curriculum for first year at UCT ?
For?
@@abongile_n computer science In science
Well I actually did a whole video on this go check it out , "First Year Computer Science "
Hey how can i start practicing coding at home?
😂😂 just start practicing, what other ideas do you actually need??
😂😂
Cam you do cyber security with degree in cs?
Yes, but I think you need some sort of certification
In cybersecurity
