@@amandahugankiss4110 im in the chicken part of the debate, and yet im describing a comparison on how it'll be a similar problem to the chicken-and-egg problem
Something horrendous to do with ai happened to me and my friends recently. A friend of ours died suddenly and it was really difficult for us, we went online to see if an obituary had been published and there were tons that had all been written by AI that were nothing to do with our friend but had his name and picture on them. It was genuinely disgusting
@@cessposter Bots. I understand literally nothing about programming but seems fairly easy to automate. Get all online official listings for death, have a template website page, and also have access to easily found online photos of the person, wich is usually found at government officially and publicly released obituaries (you could also use photos of them by buying stolen data from any company owned by meta) and then have an automatic program running prompts on chatgpt with the name and publicly available informations of the person. Then you just need to make a pipeline 1: bot gets information and photos, sends photo to template and infos to chatgpt bot 2: chatgpt bot prompts the generic "write an obituary for this person (the information sent by the first program) and then another program hets the prompt result and sends to template and when this happens the page is automatically posted. I was working at a music conference earlier this year, and people were pointing out how "AI" has been used in the music industry for years but they just didn't call it "AI". Ultimately the best thing that came out of it was an artist used an AI software to try to smooth over the vocal track of his uncle (who had died a few years ago) so that he could fit it into his own music.
AI generated media is so unbelievably inferior in quality to actual human creative force, what's really depressing is the fact that there's a certain, large, audience whose standards and expectations for entertainment are so low that AI content seems perfectly acceptable to them.
That was a sad realisation I had recently too, the reason so many artists are going to be put out of a job isn't because the people in charge think that the AI will do better, just that it'll do good enough and nobody will really notice or care
Heres an example of where AI content is acceptable for me. I run a TTRPG. All the maps and tokens have to be drawn or otherwise obtained. The budget is 0. AI is a godsend for my players not having basic shapes for their gameplay.

I came here after watching your AI video with Internet Historian that just dropped. When you mentioned you've been outspoken about AI art in the past, I wanted to check it out. As an artist myself I'd just like to thank you for standing with us. It genuinely means the world to see non-artists rallying around this fight, it's very easy to feel like we're completely alone here. It gets very draining with a lot of pro-ai bros actively celebrating when news of layoffs drops or doing some crazy mental gymnastics to try and portray us as some kind of priviledged class when most artists I know are barely scraping by or working multiple jobs. It's like the centuries of the 'starving artist' stereotype has just been wiped from their collective consciousness. This genuinely meant a lot, so thank you.
Even if OpenAI takes measures so people can know what has been generated using their services, that doesn't stop any other company from doing their own generative AI software without any similar measures. To prevent that there should be national or international laws and policies that force these companies to put measures in place (maybe it already exists, idk). But it will ultimately not work because these laws could maybe be applied to let's say the US and the EU, but other countries like China for example wouldn't need to apply these. The misuse of generative AIs is inevitable, we can only hope to limit the effects of these misuses by informing people and limiting the ways someone could effectively misuse them.
I've been getting recommended videos lately that are AI generated and it makes me very angry. I do not want to listen to a computer talk I want to listen to real people but apparently UA-cams algorithm can't understand that.
As I keep saying, AI will always have less "skill" than someone doing it manually, but many jobs don't need skill. It also saves a ton on time and monotony which for many jobs is pretty big.
