I started playing rd online in summer 2020, after my friends convinced me to get it and we had an absolute blast. For about a year we played very often and had tons of fun doing, grinder pretty well to get all the stuff I wanted (it was harder for him to play cause he’d got it when it first came out and already had nearly everything), of course after 2021 we just basically eventually stopped playing it at all cause literally nothing was getting added to the game. It’s probably been a little more than 2 whole years since I’ve played it, which is an absolute depressing shame cause I absolutely loved the game, and I didn’t even really play the story mode (hell I still need to complete it I only got to Saint Denis a year ago). I’m quite a western fan and it’s the only game of recent time like it that’s as well done as it is, so it just blows even harder that it was so uncared for.

Sad to see Crazy Butt not added into this video. A true cultural moment yet to be discovered by those not in Euroland.

Red Dead Online is not dead, it’s abandoned. I play every day for few hours and the lobby is always full, there is still tons of players who play every day. It’s a shame R* left it but I still love it and would not abandon such a gem

I treat gta just like rdr2, free roam sandbox with a “live” world that I explore and get way too high while playing. I just want to see what’s in the game and move around and interact. Almost like when you follow the traffic laws as a kid, gta is about cars, I like the cars, I drive the cars, rfr2 is about western, I explore western, pvp?? Not interested

Still makes me mad that 17 of the trophies required to platinum the game are tied to Online, like the shitty mind numbing grind I can get over in the main game but make me do PvP and I'll fold like a tonne of bricks

My biggest problem with RDO is they never ever continued the story

If they kept the random moments like prisoners getting transported or asking you to shoot off their leg irons, people bitten by snakes or in a bear trap that was in the main campaign it would have fleshed out the world. I think capturing wild horses then selling them to a rancher would have been an easy win. Searching the countyside for rare horses to break in would have cost no new assets either for rockstar. So many little things that could have kept the game engaging. The thing that killed it for me was taking away my 300 plus day daily streak. Even with the nerfed gold, I loved keeping it alive and the day it reset to zero just killed it for me.

red dead online sucked ass. I also stopped playing gta online back in like 2018. rockstar only cares about MACROtransactions. they aint micro if they can cost hundreds of dollars for shark cards and shit. GTA 6 is going to be so chalked full of this non sense its gonna suck.

I just got into rdr2. Is it worth trying the online if I just want to explore the map and ride my horse around, or should I skip it?

I just joined Red Dead Online after trying to sociopath troll filled GTA online and I enjoy it so much more. Their player base mentality seems to different. A shame I learned they don’t support this anymore outside of keeping the servers up.

Man, I remember hearing about this back in the day and I’ve always sort of wondered what happened to it but I couldn’t remember the name.

@23:00 T2 didn't pick the cool option right off the bat. They tried to shut down FiveM pretty much from the get go. They banned the creators of FiveM back in 2015, claiming they were facilitating piracy. When the creators didn't abide by the ban, they sent private investigators to their homes to try and get them to shut it down. Hiring the devs in 2023 was likely the last ditch attempt to stop or at least slow down an unofficial GTA VI RP. I don't think T2 (this effort to shut it down seems to have largely come from T2, it's not really known how R* feel about it) are particularly interested in an official RP mode, otherwise they could and would have implemented one back when they became popular years and years ago. The problem with an official RP is that it is inherently at odds with Microtransactions in a few different ways. Players needing to earn money servers as a motivator for things to happen. Anyone buying money with real cash is undermining their own and everyone else's experience. On the flip side if the in game economy is balanced to get people to spend on MTs it would kill roleplay in the same way. If they did make it so the economy in RP wasn't affected by MTs and instead balanced and in game actions then even non-RP players would flock to RP servers. Beyond that people RPing are going to want to stick to the more realistic/less garish options for clothing, vehicles, weapons etc. But those options area the big money makers for MTs. To get it to work in anyway that would make them money it would likely have to be a subscription but that will still likely make them way less than the MTs do. I'm dubious as to whether they will even try to have an official RP mode in VI, if they do it I can't imagine it being anything more than a bare minimum effort that is severely undermined by MTs and quickly gets abandoned. It's main purpose would likely be so that Rockstar/T2 can go after any unofficial RP attempts by saying it is interfering/pirating an official product.

I've seen a lot of bad kids 3D animation but the main character in that video is possibly the most punchable, vacant eyed, gormless looking dope ever rendered. Also, that is straight up just Stern's Iron Maiden pinball table. It was dead obvious once you saw Eddie's face on the Sphinx like the Powerslave album cover. Is it too much to ask trying to cover up your weird theft just a *bit* better? I wouldn't be surprised at all if you could match the footage shown with some official promotional material for it.

I remember the day rockstar changed its tune to RDR2 Online. After the first Halloween where everyone cussed the clothing items and stuff, the updates got really bad. I think they wanted to make it more fantasy orientated that’s why we have madam nazar… i genuinely believe they were going to gear us up for a undead rdr2 online in the future. I think the players reactions to some of the updates is what put the nail in the coffin.
