    Hiii Christine, I just watched all your videos and they're so informative!! I love the energy and appreciate the effort put into them. Couple of my friends and I will be visiting this resort and we were hoping to leave the resort to visit downtown Cancun. Therefore, I was wondering if you left the resort and if so, what was your form of transportation? We're slightly worried for safety reasons and would love to know your opinion! Once again, love the content.

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  4 місяці тому

      Hi hscams! Thanks for watching! I'm glad you've enjoyed the videos.
      When I'm staying in Cancun, I always leave the resort to check out the malls or grab a beer out somewhere & have never had any issues.
      I caught the local bus several times (MX $12 / US $0.72), went to the grocery store at the top of the Cancun peninsula, walked around Plaza La Isla, Plaza Kukulcan (aka Luxury Avenue Mall) and we took an Uber to the new Mayan Train, which we rode to Playa del Carmen. I've got a full video on that coming out (stay tuned!) but (spoiler alert!) there's no transportation from the Cancun train station back to the hotel strip. So it was either a very expensive cab ride or the local bus (ADO) to downtown (centro) Cancun. We did the latter and then caught a peninsula bus to our resort.
      So all in all, probably took an Uber 4 or 5 times, the bus 4 or 5 times. Didn't bother with any taxi rides this time (Uber instead - saved me TONS).
      Obviously, be a smart tourist and don't flaunt any valuables, keep your cash & credit cards safe, and be wary to avoid any dodgy areas. Have fun!

    Wow, your video was so detailed and exactly what we are searching for since we are going be there later Sep. We like to know couple things you may know: 1. During the dinner time, can we order wine or other alcohol-drinks? 2. What's the latest check out time? If we checked out, can we still have something to eat since our flight is very late of the last day. 3. Is any fish in the club beach area?

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  2 місяці тому

      Hi Rachel! Thank you for watching - I'm glad you found it informative!
      Yes, you can order wine, cocktails, etc during dinner - most restaurants have their own bar or at least there's one very nearby - no extra charge for this unless it's a bottle of wine or fancy champagne.
      I seem to recall checkout was noon BUT if your flight is later in the day, you can definitely stay and have lunch or drinks or go for a swim! I mean, if your flight's at 11pm, they may expect you to leave before that but I've never had an issue staying until mid- or even late-afternoon.
      Ha ha not sure if you're asking about fishing on the beach or eating fish in the restaurant - there are fish out there but you would need a license for this. I always see people fishing but rarely see anyone catch anything. If you mean fish on the menu, yes there are Fish tacos and Tuna Poke nachos and I believe a catch-of-the-day item (usually Mahi Mahi).
      I hope you have a fabulous time there!

    Thank you so much for your videos. We have been considering this resort for September. Did you mention that there is no Butler service? Also, do you remember the coffee bar hours? We will book vantage club if we book so I guess we have nespresso in the room but love a coffee bar at an all inclusive.

      Hi Crystal! Correct - no butler service here - it's not on the same level as Dreams or Secrets or Zoetry, but I was quite happy with it regardless. The coffee bar is open 24/7! One thing to note - if you drink a lot of coffee, you can go into the app and make notes for housekeeping to leave extra coffee pods in your room so you never run out! Have a great time!

    Hi @ChristineTurner, we currently have mid November booked for this property and are still not sure. I know there are some kinks to still be worked out and I'm open to that. My wife and I just got back from celebrating our 25th anniversary at Excellence Riviera Cancun in February and enjoyed it very much. We like great pools, great restaurants, and a good beach. We are trying to decide between Vivid, Haven, and Valentin Imperial. What are your thoughts on Vivid vs those other two? Thank you as I have enjoyed your reviews. :)

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  4 місяці тому

      Hi Michael! Oof well unfortunately, I haven't been to Haven yet and although I've sent clients to Valentin (which they really loved), I haven't been there either. Ha ha they make the short list of resorts I haven't been to! Excellence is definitely higher calibre and Haven as well. I'd say probably similar to VIM but I know the beaches in the Mayan can be very hit & miss with the sargassum; whereas, Cancun doesn't typically get hit as bad and the Vivid beach club is stunning.
      If the rates are similar for Haven and Vivid, that would be a really tough call. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one...

    • @mbrowning1970
      @mbrowning1970 4 місяці тому +1

      @@ChristineTurner No worries. I appreciate you replying. I kind of get the feeling that Vivid, by design, is a little bit of a category down from those other two resorts. The prices right now reflect that though. I'm aware of the sargassum situation as we experienced that at ERC in Feb. Probably is going to come down to whether or not Vivid has all of the kinks ironed out by mid Nov. If not, we might hit one of the other two resorts. Thanks for your feedback. :)

      Hi Catherine! No there aren’t any paths through the mangroves and I wouldn’t advise looking for any as they’ll be full of mosquitoes and you might encounter crocodiles. The golf course is also off limits because it’s owned by the Iberostar resort. (I would have loved to have been able to cut through it to get to the beach club!) I’m not sure what time the pools were open til but I’d say 6 or 7 -then they close them to add chlorine and sanitize them for the next day so you definitely don’t want to be in there until those chemicals settle down!

I’ve liked Sandos Cancun, Secrets The Vine, Hyatt Zilara, Hyatt Ziva, the Riu Palace resorts… Wyndham Alltra is ok but more basic. Same for Dreams Sands. Le Blanc goes the other direction with full 5* everything but has Juliet balconies. Hard rock is nice but. Ore of a party place. The Palace resorts are a good option with exchange privileges. Hi RBVan! Well i'd be inclined to stick to urban resorts instead of something that's more remote - this way, he'd have options to sightsee, etc. I'd probably opt for something like Hyatt Zilara or Hard Rock Cancun. If he sticks with adult only resorts, the tricky thing is to avoid ones that are more couple-y and at this point, I think Vivid has been more aimed at couples than singles. Hi Christine, love the review. However, do you think it's a bit misleading for property management to respond to recent negative Google reviews saying the propery is "fully operational" - despite, as you said, some promised activities and amenities (Vantage breakfast, pottery, et al) aren't up and running yet? Seems like at best a white lie by the resort and at worst, a brazen lie
    Nevertheless, staying in Auguat and looking forward to it!

      @ChristineTurner  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Chris! I have seen many companies (including past travel agencies that I've worked with) really struggle with bad reviews. You want to address the issue, but you also don't want to deter new customers. I'm sure the resort cringed at some of my videos, stating that certain things aren't operating fully yet, but that's the truth. Some of the Secrets resorts are fully disclosing that certain things won't be available until 6 months after opening - I think that people respect that and really appreciate that they're getting really great opening rates but that all services may not be 100% in place.
      I think you're going to be in good hands by August - that's still over 2 months away, so I bet most things will be happening by then. Looking forward to hearing what you think!!

      Hi Lou.
      No I do not get paid to review resorts. A basic rule of UA-cam is that sponsored videos must be disclosed up front.
      As for the food, I enjoyed it but I am not someone who enjoys 12oz steaks or buckets of pasta, so, as I said repeatedly in the video, everyone has different tastes.
      Food was available until 11, with snacks available 24/7. Drinks and rooftop DJ most nights until 1am or later.
