I hate when characters in movies don’t know the simple rule of gun use to never point your weapon at your team. Then again its an Asylum film so the fact they know how to say lines without a teleprompter is shocking.
Honestly, the giant lizard's design is pretty good. Like, if the effects team had more time to work on it it could've looked really good. Not a thought I expected to have regarding an Asylum movie.
I can't recall the names but I have seen one or two of their movies that might have been good if they put more money into the effects and the acting. Sometimes they're frustratingly close to a decent or even good movie if they just had more money.
Sad thing about Asylum films is that, as bad as their effects are, they are miles ahead of the acting of the human cast. Most of the time it feels like I am either watching a school play or people read from a script during a costume party.
But you have to admit there's always a Gem. Steve Urkel gave an award winning performance in Megashark vs Crocasurus. And the Unicorn Team in the opening of Megashark vs Kolossus. They were very very good.
@@jamesduncan6729 very true. funny enough, I've seen the Rampage movie, and it's a hot steaming pile of shit. which is ironic given that people say it's good, which is why I tend to be skeptical over what people say about films, especially popular opinions. the Rampage movie is just basically The Rock in a Frankenstein monster of a plot taken from current popular film, and it even does a terrible job being consistent with the games. just because they put a Rampage arcade machine in the bad guy's main office, doesn't mean I'm going to give you a pass movie!
“What was that?” “Nothing.” It’s these little moments that honestly has me enjoying your reviews more that any other. Keep rocking Decker! And if you ever in central MS I’d love to meet you man.
I saw this movie last month, at like 2 am on TV. It was so fucking funny. I actually laughed out loud, when the big monke first appeared on the screen. Woke up the whole house. Worth it.
Saw the look on your face in the thumbnail and knew this was gonna be a doozy. Thank you for doing the hard job and actually watching these "movies" in their entirety for our entertainment. You, sir, are a true hero.
Asylum is not the worst thing to happen to film because at least we can get a few laughs out of it but you can say that about filming a guy fall on his nuts during a skateboard grind
@@Adjuni oh yeah, we love riffing on all these cheap $5-bin-at-Walmart monster/kaiju movies we find. We’re big Kong and Godzilla fanboys, so we were especially looking forward to this one for months. I can’t remember exactly what he said, just that the CGI was especially bad, even by the standards he was used to
10:20 Technically in North America it would be a railroad bridge but then again the train is using a British Rail locomotive and MK3 coaches so the term railway could be considered correct.
I am actually laughing because the moment I saw ape vs monster my thought was God this is something like the aslyum would do make a piece of crap after a hot movie then I saw who made it and I was like Decker... It's time.
Haha I said this on the last video but again you don’t know how long I’ve waited for this. I saw a terrible review on this before. I thought you would have covered it by now. But I’m glad you did, finally a decent review. (I haven’t watched your video yet).
I go into any asylum movie expecting an asylum movie so I set my expectations to asylum and sit back and soak up the cheesy goodness. Plus you have to respect a company that has never lost money on a movie.
So they ripped off Godzilla vs Kong by ripping off Rampage by ripping off Prometheus by ripping off Spider-Man 3 by ripping off Independence Day by ripping off Maximum Overdrive?
To be honest, the special effects on NotZilla ain't that bad for an Asylum movie. If it was repurposed for another project with a more competent (and more willing to sprinkle in the budget) crew, we could have something good here
Like others have said, the monster design is pretty nice. Nothing like a gila monster but it actually resembles an updated version of Varan, which I like. Sadly, it looks like this movie suffers from the same problem way too many Asylum monster movies do: a massive dearth of monster stuff. You know, the one thing people would WANT to see. Looks like Decker saved me 90 minutes.
the enthusiasm in doing this vid is extremely nice, but I gotta wunda how much coke was done. LOL i can certainly see how much Decker really loves Asylum films. The best thing about Decker reviews , he appears to wear his opinion on his sleeve. plus cutting commentary.
Great review! As an actor, you warm up before the shoot. I get so tired of seeing warm up takes that made it to camera. Any film actor worth their salt is on with the camera. If the camera doesn't turn you on,you're in the wrong trade.
The effect, and this is true, of the monster is actually great and was a effect that was loaned to them by a Japanese studio and that's why compared to the other effects it works so well!
Everyday we grow closer to the summer of the asylum. Decker this is the exact reason we want the summer of the asylum. Terrible movies with fun reviews.
Damn Eric Robert's also came out in the Asylum rip off of Top Gun Maverick!! The movie is called "Top Gunners"!! No this is not a joke, I wish it was but no its real!
@irwinisidro Some actors are like that, it's an old school acting philosophy; you take any fair offer, even if you're big enough that you don't have to. I'm reminded of once when someone asked Uwe Boll how he got Ben Kingsley for Bloodrayne. Boll answered "I called his agent and asked." He then went on to note that he was the most easy to work with actor he's ever met.
Monster only bites Ape. Ape punches and breaks monster's neck. That's the whole fight? Shouldn't expect it from the juggernaut of letdowns. Godzilla's fight with Gabera was more entertaining
Honestly if you really think about it. This movie is more of a homage to Rampage if anything. Hear me out: opening establishing space shenanigans, giant ape with a name that has a dark skinned care taker , grows rapidly in containment, has to fight large lizard monster, both ape and lizard drew sue to mysterious green material.
I hate when characters in movies don’t know the simple rule of gun use to never point your weapon at your team. Then again its an Asylum film so the fact they know how to say lines without a teleprompter is shocking.
dude, one of the soldiers at the start of the movie walked around with a rocketlauncher and acted like it was a rifle.
The biggest dissapointment of the movie was not naming the Ape "Aperaham"
Honestly, the giant lizard's design is pretty good. Like, if the effects team had more time to work on it it could've looked really good. Not a thought I expected to have regarding an Asylum movie.
One of them look like the much hated godzilla movie lol
I heard it was actually a stock model
Stock model or not the design isn’t bad after seeing the monkey……Only if asylum took the time to actually try to blend it in
I can't recall the names but I have seen one or two of their movies that might have been good if they put more money into the effects and the acting. Sometimes they're frustratingly close to a decent or even good movie if they just had more money.
I heard Asylum bought the Monster model from somewhere. That explains why it is comparatively better. Ape was made by the Asylum team.
Still weird having decker bobbing around instead of being on the couch but … Decker is decker and we love it
Greenscreen gonna greenscreen, playa.
Not the review I was hoping for but I'll always support Decker shado so I'll click every time I get his notification!
Right look at this bootleg King Kong vs godzilla
Same. Any Decker review is a good review! 🥰❤️
No doubt!!!
I actually saw this in Walmart and my first thought was: “I’m betting money it’s from The Asylum.”
Same. Spotted it for $5. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw they had the nerve to compare it to Godzilla and Pacific Rim on the back
I'll be honest, that lizard doesn't look too bad. Not great, but definitely leaps and bounds away from The Asylums usual shlock in terms of quality
I know im really late but the model was stolen... I think.
"NATURALY, they are attacked by an enormous ape!" Naturally.

It's always a good day when Decker shado uploads especially if it's anything in regard to creature features or the Kaiju universe
"A creature feature.
As she said to the teacher."
for some odd reason, this movie seems more like a proper Rampage movie than the actual Rampage movie.
I totally agree. I can dig it, I just imagine it's about the Rampage monsters (aside from Ralph being excluded)

What is annoying me the most during this movie is that the main character wears her load bearing combat harness backwards throughout the entire movie.

If you already have a giant ape, and a giant lizard, then adding a giant human would have made this a knock off of Rampage.

Kong sneaking up on people is faithful to the (new) first Kong movie.
