    As someone who loves keeping atleast one note book, a pen and one pencil close at hand I love this video.
    Been watching for a few months now and I really enjoy the channel.
    A few videos ago you recieved two pair of socks in a subscriptionbox. It would be really nice to see some of your top picks for socks, both in cold weather climat and hot or tropical weather climat (might be harder now during winter). Both in terms of heat and if they are works the size when packing a camping bag. (Some socks can be really big and "fluffy" and not provite the same heat as some higher quality materials)
    Cheers. Andepen.

    This was probably the most informative video I have seen regarding all weather notebook options for outdoor notetaking and organizing. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this it was awesome!

      I can't take credit for that. That is kind of the standard way we are taught to block our markers (usually dry erase) for mission briefings up on a white board. A good marker block is a source of pride for a Weapons School Grad!

    Another great video, and I appreciate you going the extra mile to cover a topic that's a bit more esoteric than an unboxing or knife review but from which many people can benefit, with lots of hands on demonstration.
    Wanted to add that the binder is a Staples Better Binder - I have exactly same one in front of me for my Wacky Packages cards. Great choice for people looking for a hard use item. I particularly like the storage pocket (which Staples claims will hold 100 sheets, haven't verified) attached to the inside cover of the smaller capacity binders. No idea why the larger capacity ones don't have this.

    I highly recommend checking out weathermax notepads. They don't use actual paper but a different material and you can soak it for hours without harming the "paper" I've switched to using them exclusively because I've had problems with coated paper a few times in twelve hours shifts in rain. They are only around five bucks and you can find them at Lowes for a local grab or places like Amazon. The bright green isn't sexy but they work flawlessly with pencil and pen. I mainly use space pens outside but even something like uniball works on it fine.

    You should be able to get permanent marker off a dry erase board with alcohol wipes, or even overwrite the marking with a dry erase marker.

    I used the loose leaf rite in the rain alot. Didn't have a binder, so I used the Japanese stab binding technique and 550 cord. Held up great. Outer pages get messed up, but you can skip those when using.

    Funfact: Spacepen ink is also Thixotropic. While under sheering force, like dragged along a rolling ball, it becomes more liquid...then solidifies (as opposed to dries like normal ink, though it does that over time too).
    Any tips on how to not lose your sharpies with UCP tape on them...practically invisible against all backgrounds!
    I was surprised to not see Battleboard Notebook Covers. The clear outer window that is loaded from inside is incredibly useful and the quality is up there with RitR. Worth a look.
    Great videos! Still great info 5 years later.

    Great video doc! One little question that isn't really relevant to this video but have you herd of a knife brand called elk ridge? They're a fairly cheap brand like their stuff isn't amazing by any means but in my opinion they do have a few good things, just wondering if you've ever had any experience with them and what's your thoughts about them. Love watching your videos too keep it up :)

    • @DocP91B
      @DocP91B  6 років тому +1

      I've tried them out. My opinion is they are a lower end brand in line with Ridge Runner, Black Legion, etc. Like you said, not great, but good to have around for the tool box. Their stuff is never going to hold up to hard use, but it will get through some basic work.

    Hi , I have a ? ,request . How do you sanitize (erase ) a right in the rain notebook? Maybe a video is in order?

    • @DocP91B

      Unless you've written in pencil, you don't. You throw the paper away.

    • @garybachman401
      @garybachman401 5 років тому

      Tried pencil , still pretty hard ! Thought maybe there was something different. You mentioned sanitizing a book used during a tour . I am trying sheet protectors on regular paper ,seems to work pretty well with the washable markers ,for sensitive stuff, quick to eliminate & permanent for the less sensitive ( still clean with alcohol) . I am going to try to seal them with a iron if it works, for another level of durability, they just work so well. Any tips are greatly appreciated. & Thanks for the reply.

      @@garybachman401 try laminating paper and using a Mr. Clean magic eraser to erase the permanent marker from it. Also, a trick we used to use- draw over permanent maker with an Expo marker and thenwiper clean immediately. It usually takes all the ink off.

    The us had to designed a special space pen with pressurized cartridges for millions of dollars, the Soviet simply used pencils with the same properties and no expensive refills…

    • @CRANEREVIEWS
      @CRANEREVIEWS Рік тому +3

      That is far from truth, they didn't use a pencil, rather a special, expensive pencil that had a plethora of issues and ended up using Fisher space pens too.
      NASA used to use pencils too, $128.89 per pencil and than purchased the space pens from Paul Fisher the creator who invested his own money and time and sold them to NASA at $2.95 per pen.

      The problem is the pencils have the graphite, and graphite flakes and you don’t want that floating around in space causing trouble.

      Dude..this video is damn near 4 years old. Exactly what effect did you expect telling me to "stop" was going to have?!? Did you think some kind of magic was going to happen in the video recorded in 2018 and suddenly the voice was going to stop talking?!? Tell the truth - did you suddenly stop taking some required medication recently?
      The writing tool you use is as important as the paper you use when you're looking at these things. If you use the wrong one it can make the whole effort useless. Sorry you couldn't wrap your head around that. I guess maybe all my years in uniform were good for something after all!
