Police shut down streets near Torrance mall due to large crowd disturbance

- A disturbance involving a large crowd of juveniles shut down streets near the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance on Saturday night. Heavy law enforcement presence surrounded the mall after the incident was reported by Torrance police around 5 p.m.
A large group of people was seen running from the premises as officers in riot gear created a skirmish line near BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. The closure was reportedly prompted by a Facebook group where hundreds of juveniles had planned to loot or destroy the Del Amo mall.

80% of all crime from one group . I came home with a yo-yo when I was a kid and my mother said where did you get that without money . She had me walk that mile back to the store and apologize to the manager for stealing it . As I was alone doing this my mother trusted me not to lie to when I returned home . ❤
I did the same thing when I realized my son took the tip ($5 bill) off the table when we left a chinese buffet restaurant. He learned that day that what he did was steal a portion of her paycheck, not just find free money on a table like he thought he had, and I promptly went back to the restaurant and made him personally return it to the waitress with an apology.
Same thing with me. I took a blue hotwheels car. Mom took me to the manager and had him give me the third degree.
It's a generation thing. Since it's illegal these days to properly discipline your child, we are seeing the consequences of our liberal laws.

I remember being maybe 12 or 13 and i wanted a poster or if one of those "Teen Beat" magazines and didn't have the money to buy the magazine so i tore out the poster and took it home i felt so guilty when i got home i couldn't even bring myself to put it up on my wall like i wanted to. That was the only time i stole anything and I'm 46 now. These kids are just so convinced that they can do whatever and say whatever they damn well please and it doesn't matter if it's legal or not it doesn't matter if it hurts someone or not. It is an entire generation of narcissistic potential psychpaths that have no empathy or sympathy for anyone but themselves. Parents need to wake up and either stop being lazy parents or stop being afraid of being accused of abuse and discipline their children and if they don't want to them don't get pissed at teachers or other adults when they attempt to correct their horrendous behavior.
You can’t call out racism when everything closes down around your community. The whole nation sees your behavior and knows who’s responsible.
Truth must be told and identify the problem by its name in order to fix it.

I remember hanging out at this mall & the galleria mall when I was a kid. My parents would hang out at a cafe near the bottom of the escalators to “people watch” sometimes. Of course back then there really wasn’t much else for us kids to do during summer other than hang out at the food court in large groups just goofing off, this was back in the 1980’s so wasn’t much else that didn’t involve getting into trouble.
I live around the corner... this is a WEEKLY EVENT that is never reported.
I also had "situation" a few weeks ago, and when I tried to report it to the mall security and TPD I was told there was no one available...
In fact, Del Amo Mall security did not know WHO I was to speak to about said situation.... no clue.
They kept putting me on hold and asking each other what to do and who to ask for!
I grew up here... over 50 years and never has things been this way

I grew up there too and shopped at Del Amo when they had the I. Magnin store, etc. It was calm, safe and peaceful. Never any thought of trouble or danger. This is what happens when we tolerate bad behavior because of this demographic. Why can't we just get real and say it is the behavior of these people that is the problem? Stop pretending it's other people's racism. It isn't. Why are they allowed to bully, threaten and ruin society for everyone else? And then they wonder why no one likes them or wants to be around them. It's not other people's racism, it's their behavior.

I’m a Torrance resident who grew up in south central but I’ll tell you this. All that ratchet and ghetto vibe left it over there. I’m pretty sure none of those “teens” are Torrance residents. I hope torrance and surrounding cities don’t end up like the bad side of LA
Sadly any areas that don’t have a very high real estate value (ex. Beverly Hills) will all succumb to this eventually. Any area with mass amounts of more affordable living. Yes, Torrance has very nice and high real estate, but it will be thwarted by the mass amount of lower income apartments. There’s no low income in Bev hills. If it gets really bad, the wealthy will be forced to move away to escape, leaving even those areas to be destroyed. I really feel like Cali as a whole will turn into a wasteland. And the disease will spread inland from the coasts until they whirl together in the center. Anyone who wants lawfulness and order will have to move to civil countries overseas, where only great bodies of water will keep all the filth held back.

The parents shouldn't be held responsible in most cases. That would be unfair. They probably don't know what their children are doing. I was a petty thief when I was young but it had nothing to do with negligent parenting.
