I am confused on how to install a gpu. The metal slots seem to be in the way. What I mean is, there is no screws to remove just almost like a solid piece. There is a screwdriver symbol on the outside. I don't want to break the case.

Actually there is one way which requires the following steps: (a) Buy a new motherboard which supports external video card, (b) Buy a new video card, (c) Buy a new cooling system, (d) You may need new power supply (charger) And at the end of the day your machine may NOT work as you dream and the total cost would be more than the price of a new, better computer. I would like to keep this 1TB drive in it and also want to speed up the loading process. So I was trying to find a second SATA connector so I can put in a SATA SSD drive since I already have a few spare SSDs on hand and don't really want to spend more money on M2s. Do you know what is that "white" connector (right by the blue one)? I cannot find anything on the HP manual.
@@polymyxa8233 Not sure about you MB but mine has 3 sata ports. White, light blue and dark blue. The DVD drive is in the white and the 1tb hard drive is on the dark blue. The dark blue is below the white and light blue. I had to remove the black cage on the bottom covering the hard drive to access it.

You can replace the stock power supply (psu) with something like the HP PA-4501-1 L07304-001, which is a 500 watt unit. Just keep in mind that the psu will have to be installed upside down (which is fine). I have done this myself, and it worked fine.

(a) Buy a new motherboard which supports external video card,
(b) Buy a new video card,
(c) Buy a new cooling system,
(d) You may need new power supply (charger)
And at the end of the day your machine may NOT work as you dream and the total cost would be more than the price of a new, better computer.

Sorry, I was not clear about what I was trying to say. My box came with a 1TB 2.5" SATA HDD installed on "the blue" connector. I would like to keep this 1TB drive in it and also want to speed up the loading process. So I was trying to find a second SATA connector so I can put in a SATA SSD drive since I already have a few spare SSDs on hand and don't really want to spend more money on M2s.
Do you know what is that "white" connector (right by the blue one)? I cannot find anything on the HP manual.
@@polymyxa8233 Not sure about you MB but mine has 3 sata ports. White, light blue and dark blue. The DVD drive is in the white and the 1tb hard drive is on the dark blue. The dark blue is below the white and light blue. I had to remove the black cage on the bottom covering the hard drive to access it.

The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary. It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector. You will have to buy any PSU upgrade from HP. HP has a 310W PSU (L064961-800) that will be compatible with your motherboard. I believe there is a 500W PSU (L05757-800) that will work, also.

+Kyzerii You can not adapt an ATX PSU to work with those units.
You can replace the stock power supply (psu) with something like the HP PA-4501-1 L07304-001, which is a 500 watt unit.
Just keep in mind that the psu will have to be installed upside down (which is fine).
I have done this myself, and it worked fine.
