Great tour, thank you. My wife was born in Chicago but we are now on the East Coast and in our seventies so we don’t get there much anymore. I loved wandering the neighborhoods when we'd be there to visit her family. It’s a great city with great neighborhoods.

It's crazy seeing those old videos of Bensonhurst from the 80s and 90s, and then comparing it to today's Bensonhurst. They're like two completely different countries altogether.

Very interesting material about the southern part of Chicago, a few more such videos and your YT channel will be almost as good as Geoffrey Baer's videos from WWTV. It would also be worth showing from the South Side of Chicago the most beautiful district, which is Hyde Park, along with the neo-Gothic University of Chicago, like from the Harry Potter movie. Remains from one of the greatest exhibition events in history, the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, Jackson Park, Garden of Phoenix, Midway Plaisance. Neighborhoods such as Woodlawn, Bronzville, Engelwood, Avalon Park and Pullman. Last sunday I was in Chicago's Chinatown, and it occurred to me how many people who visit Chicago's Chinatown don't visit the second one next to Wentworth Ave. District, the newer Chinatown, which is Chinatown Square. An avenue with two-story buildings with long balconies like a gallery. Excellent cuisine from China and Hong Kong, instagrammable places with desserts. You can also reach Chinatown by taking the Chicago downtown water taxi to nearby Ping Tom Memorial Park.

One of the best videos about Chicago on You Tube. Great job done !!!. Finally someone mentioned the famous Picasso sculpture on Daley Plaza on YT. I would also like to add that Millenium Park is the largest rooftop ( Green Roof) park in the world. Built on the roof of garages which, together with Maggie Daley Park, can accommodate over 9,000 cars (the second largest underground parking lot in the world after Abu Dhabi). There are active railway tracks under the park. I would also add to the list of places worth visiting in Chicago the highest workshop space in the world, The Sky Chapel ( 400 ft), with the highest church tower with a spire at the Chicago Temple ( 178 meters, The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona 172.5 metres). The largest glass dome made of Tiffany glass at the Chicago Cultural Center. The second longest park in the world on the old railway viaduct ( High Line) - Bloomingdale Trail 606 (2.7 miles, only the park in Paris Coulée Verte René-Dumont is longer 2.9 miles). The largest rooftop bar in the world - Offshore Rooftop & Bar at Navy Pier. The largest Starbucks Reserve in the world (5 floors and 35000 sf plus rooftop). It is also worth adding that the Chicago River is the only river in the world that has a changed direction and flows in the opposite direction than it should. Additionally, there are over 53 drawbridges in Chicago, most of which are still operational today. Chicago is the second city after Amsterdam with the number of drawbridges. Monadnock Building at 215 feet (66 m), it is the tallest load-bearing brick building ever constructed. There is another place in Chicago, maybe not in the city center, but on the South Side - Hyde Park with the University of Chicago in neo-Gothic style, almost like buildings from the movie Harry Potter. We can also see the remains of the famous one of the best exhibition events in the world ever held, which was the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. Jackson Park, Griffin Museum Of Science and Industry, Midway Plaisance, Garden of Phoenix. In addition, there is a beautiful panorama of downtown Chicago with many beaches on Lake Michigan from the south. Also Chicago's Chinatown along with Chinatown Square, which is quite different from the typical Chinatown in the US, an avenue with two-story buildings with balconies. In addition, very good Chinese cuisine and many Instagrammable places with desserts. The nearby Ping Tom Memorial Park, which and Chinatown we can reach by water taxi from the city center.

Thanks for watching and for the suggestion. This particular video was called the "old southwest side" because it is technically south of Madison (south side) and west of State St (west side). I know it is not what is largely considered the southwest side- but I plan on doing one of the southeast side (Hyde Park, Bronzeville, Jackson Park) and another on the "new southwest side" (Garfield Ridge, Marquette Park, Beverly, Mt Greenwood) so more of a categorical way of organizing the large south side of Chicago. Please look out for those videos in the future.

Great video, thanks for making it. I was also raised in the Novus Ordo Catholic Church, but my family fell away from it when I was around 11 years old. I always considered myself still Catholic but didn't go to Mass or participate in the Sacraments, etc. for over 20 years. I often thought about going back, for various reasons and sometimes felt a strong calling to do so. I didn't follow up on that until about a year ago and went to a TLM Catholic Church in my area at the suggestion of a friend (Rest Easy Dan, God Bless) and also after doing some research on it, it sounded like something worthwhile; especially in these dark, crazy times. Long story short, so far, I think it's helped me and I'm continuing with it, often struggling as most of us do but trying to live a good Catholic life. I'm glad that it's helping you as well. Keep up the good work.

Great video. I wasn't raised in Chicago but was born there and spent a lot of time up there visiting family, sometimes for a few months on end. As someone pointed out, these neighborhoods aren't on the Soutwest Side but I don't think you're from Chicago, so you may have just got mixed up. I know that no harm was meant. Also, I'd adjust the sound to where the music wasn't as loud but your voice, when talking was a bit louder. I think that would help a bit but otherwise man, great content. I like your presenting style and enthusiasm for the subject.
