That’s good to know! I have rheumatoid arthritis, I’ve been wondering if it really helps joints. Back when I worked with horses, the veterinarians would often inject the fetlocks (ankles) of older horses with hyaluronic acid to make them able to move more freely. Once upon a time, rheumatologists could do this for their patients, but no insurance company will pay for it, now. I even know of one elderly person who travels from California to British Columbia to purchase the injectable HA and bring it to his rheumatologist to inject into his knees!

However, I have a mild arthritis and since I'm taking this pills, the morning stiffness in my knees is complete gone. I don’t know how i missed this video when it first ran🤷‍♀️, but I want to say that I began taking HA and MSM orally for my joints (I have rheumatoid arthritis). Injectable treatments were too hard on my immune system, and caused me to develop a colonization of aspergillosis in my lungs (which took 7 months to get rid of)! These two supplements have helped to lessen my joint pain and stiffness, and as a serendipitous benefit, my skin looks a bit smoother and younger.

MSM is a precursor to making Collagen. I eats lots of cabbage, onions, eggs, which are high in Sulfur. My skin is amazing, though I always supplement it with higher concentration of collagen and msm. I have been 3 days on HAand will see any difference.

As far as I know, one should take very high molecular weight hyaluronic acid because low molecular weight hyaluronic acid is pro-inflammatory when used internally. For example, the hyaluronic acid offered by the company Donotage has a molecular weight of 2.6 million daltons. This company seems to have great expertise in this area. What is your opinion on this?

Good Morning Dr. Dray! Deaf Betsy here. I read through the comments quickly and did not see the biggest complaint I read from people..and that is weight gain. They insist they have gained a lot of weight since taking these HA supplements. I wonder what the "skinny: is on that and your opinion? I would assume if any gain it would simply be water weight...if even digested. Thank you Doctor! x

Over consuming supplements our bodies may not need causes the body to go into cleanup mode. This can overtax our metabolic system & throw us out of balance ⚖️.

Maybe check out her skincare in your 20s video. I’m sure a lot of that info would apply for your age group too! :)
As for retinoids, I would assume they would be okay, considering Differin is used a lot by teens suffering from acne. But no harm is asking your doctor just to be sure.

I was watching a UA-cam video from another board certified dermatologist I had never heard about, and she was saying that topical HA is actually drying and promotes dehydration (she was reading something from Wolverton's Comprehensive Dermatologic Drug Therapy). It's the first time I hear such a claim 🤔

I took HA pills for a couple months. My skin became very clear and glowing and it helped my back pain. The issue I developed was that my face started looking very puffy and bottom heavy, if that makes sense...perhaps due to water retention. My face went from heart shaped (before HA pills) to rectangle/square (during HA pills). I stopped taking them and gradually my face has lost the puffy, bottom heavy appearance and went back to normal heart shape. Unfortunately, my skin doesn't have the same clear and glowing appearance as when I was on the pills, but I just couldn't take the water retention.

Well said, Uncle Charlie! Long ago, I had a wonderful doctor (allergist) who was also a wonderful teacher. I was heartbroken when she retired early, BUT she went on to teach at the Stanford University School of Medicine! The thought that she was instilling her gift in others gave me pause to realize I was actually feeling selfish!
