      My guess is bc what you're hearing is billions of hours of individual practice over decades and leadership that knows what to do with it when it comes together. These people have worked their asses off to get where they are.

    • @clayel1
      @clayel1 20 днів тому

      @@rogerroth9536 not billions, assuming it takes about 10,000 hours to become a professional in anything, then that would be 100,000 people
      assuming 100 people, that gives a million hours, which is still impressive

    • @rogerroth9536
      @rogerroth9536 19 днів тому +1

      @@clayel1 Let's do a little exercise. Average age of these musicians is say 40. They started practicing when they were 5 years old, so 35 years practicing, say 4 hours/day which is probably low balling. 35 years x 365 x 4 = 51,000 hours x 100 = >5 million hours. You're right. Thanks.

    One of the most impressive Mahler 5 intros.. He is sooooo great. He can play not only deep sounds but also sharp sounds in the high range.. Many players play this song's intro simply and neatly. But this player is wide, deep, and even play like pushing the tones that classical players hate. Very unique.

      I have a question for you now. Do you still think this is your favorite perfomance? A lot of people around me just side with Abaddo, and I understand that he makes it clear and balanced, but Orozco-Estrada has a very suitable style for Mahler, in my view. What do you say?

    • @YoungKantian
      @YoungKantian Рік тому +6

      @@dan-us6nk Agreed. Abaddo is great, but Orozco is just more suited for Mahler. To me Abaddo has a more fruity and punchy style while Estrada goes with an earthy and grim-grounded sort of take.

    • @JorgeSalema
      @JorgeSalema 5 років тому

      Probably right. Since Bernstein. It give it a more somber beauty. I like it but one is not force to play it so slow just because Mahler wrote "very slow". As you khow, you can never guess the intended tempo without a recording.

      Mahler's own timing was around 8 minutes. Dragging it out is a mistake. Both Hermann Scherchen and Bruno Maderna's live performances stretch it to a ridiculous 15 minutes. And Scherchen even makes cuts in the Scherzo and Finale!

    This is the finest Mahler Fifth I have ever heard - surely the reference standard. Rich, musical, lyrical, and just plain LUSH, it's damn near the most perfectly realized Mahler ANYTHING I have ever heard (but the Klemperer/Wunderlich/Ludwig DLVDE still wears that laurel, at least for me).

    • @alexb6139
      @alexb6139 4 роки тому +5

      The question is, should it be lyrical, or lush? It is in many ways a deeply tragic Symphony. Hence the first movements marking - "Trauermarsch" - or "Funeral march". Of course, it´s an interpretation matter, although I feel I really should put that out there.

    III. Scherzo. Why the first horn gets the big bucks. I-V Why the HRSO deserves the same. Vielen Dank.

    Por donde empezar? El conductor, la música.... donde ha estado esta música todo el medio siglo de vida que tengo? Hoy descubrí a este compositor en la estación de radio publica del estado de Georgia (USA) que belleza!!!

    Indeed thank you Andres & Frankfurt. We are hosting a student from Columbia & his name is Andres as well. And. A trumpet player so I am taking him to Seattle Sym. 12/2/23 to hear this intense music.

      Prezado Juergen Voigt, realmente esta gravação é fantástica, rica em detalhes, como poucas vezes se ouviu! Agora, toda essa profundidade musical veio da leitura de uma pessoa muito jovem como Andrés Orozco-Estrada. Tal fato, nos faz antever um futuro muito promissor para o jovem maestro. Acompanhemos a sua trajetória. Obrigado!
