Honestly the fact that I can experience *this* level & kind of emotion practically wherever and whenever is insane. This stuff is just too good. And it never gets old!
Modern life can be difficult and overwhelming, but we have access to music of a quality and diversity which not even the richest and most powerful person on Earth could have had just a few decades ago.
You bet. This symphony is my all-time favorite, even edging out the 9th. And those two ƒƒƒ crescendos toward the end of the last movement...wow. Just wow.
The second movement became the funeral music of the 56 Hungarian Revolution! The story is: there was nobody in the ordinary offices of the Radio Kossuth (Hungarian State Radio) because the studios were in ruins, so the technicians who worked at the broadcasting tower far away from Budapest, try to play something to sign the public, that the station exists. But they find only one piece of plastic record and this was the second movement of Vii. Symphony. As far as I know, they had been playing it all day long.
That's depressing as heck if true - I love the piece, but the 2nd movement here is not what i'd want repeating at the point of a revolution... At least play the 5'th final movement or something.
Nah, I think Thielemann's second movement is better because: 1. The first climax is much too extreme in this version, and it takes away from the big climax 2. The second climax in Thielemann's version is much more "unrelenting" in a way, that just overpowers you, where this one is broken up by the brass, and it loses some of its "relentlessness" in a way 3. In the midsection, where it is kind of a fuge, the melody is initially buried a bit too much in the accompanying violin arpeggios In the end, it's up to you which one you like better, but that is my 2 cents.
I like your 2 cents because I’m going to try to find that performance. Up until now I’ve loved the Solti performance he did, I believe it was with VPO in Japan. It’s on UA-cam, that has a fantastic second movement. I’m still evaluating this one.
@@RealFelixMendelssohn I can't handle the low fidelity of the audio in Thielemann's version (at least the ones I see on YT) My dad was a huge HIFI nerd back when that meant a GIGANTIC and super heavy audio processing box with fancy gold connections, and the speakers all spaced properly from the listening couch, etc, etc. Now we're blessed to have preposterously good quality on headphones that are very affordable if you know where and when, and youtube... what a blessing we take for granted that any time I want I can find just about any possible song - probably many versions - as well as all sorts of cool documentaries, news, science, etc. Anyway, once I got proper-ish headphones I find I really can't listen to low audio quality works if I can help it, and these by Orosco-Estrada are fantastic. All the work this team puts out is on fire! ! Every beethoven symphony ( and dvoraks'! ) of theirs hasnt had a single note out of perfection, nor a mood or emotion tuned too high or low by the Maestro. I love it all. Thank you so much
I came across this conductor a few days ago. Humble guy; at the end, he emphasizes the importance of the orchestra. I am not an expert on classical music, though I like it, and from my point of view this is quite a good performance. I am a software engineer, and I develop algorithms, some of them really complex, and when I am driving mad, hitting my head against the wall, thinking "this should work, why it doesn't?" I listen to Bach, Beethoven, Genesis of Pink Floyd. Particularly, the allegretto of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony clears my mind and calms me down.
It's reminds me a lot of Chopin's funeral march. Both have the same slow, stern, stately melancholy. This feels like a wake-up call, a reminder of loss and crisis and the need to focus on what truly matters.
I agree so much! We're playing Beethoven 7th next week and I was so happy to see that there is this video with her as principal flute, pretty much my fav principal flute EVER😍

Bravo! Bravo Clara Andrada de la Calle!
I'm only a beginner in listening to classical music, but the second movement is one of the most beautiful and moving pieces of music I've ever heard.
Gostei demais!
What a fantastic interpretation. I'm so impressed with this young conductor and fellow Colombian and Javeriano. Will be looking for more of his works, leading with the baton or playing his violin. Bravo Maestro!
He seems to be doing exceptionally with his bare hands -- does'nt need a baton .
Estos Genios me sorprenden cada día más..¡¡
Conducting this work
brings me great joy.
Obrigado.
I have to proudly say, it's the best orchestra at the time. BRAVO!!!
My favorite one of the players is the golden girl with the golden flute. "die goldene Dame mit der goldenen Flöte" (according to Google translate or "La dama aurea con flauta de oro" according to my own translation.
She is Clara Andrada, from our beloved España. Excellent flutist and soloist.
Magnificent! I can think of no music more appropriate for the times. Reaching deep within individually with our gifts and talents to move through everything with courage. Meeting and feeling all of it. This music inspires that sense for me. Thank you!
Magnifico!!!😊❤
Grande Clara in the flute solo!!
ALWAYS give a standing ovation at every Beethoven performance.
4:13 Vivace (the remembered theme) begins here
6:30 This is the other best part in my opinion
35:00 horns in high register are so triumphant ❤
Magnífico Orozco. Grandes Músicos.
The new reference. Simply great.
Movement 2 always brought great emotion to me. I love it so much
All the work this team puts out is on fire! ! Every beethoven symphony ( and dvoraks'! ) of theirs hasnt had a single note out of perfection, nor a mood or emotion tuned too high or low by the Maestro. I love it all. Thank you so much
the beautiful wind dialog from 11:07 to 11:28

They have the best principal flutist. Now I only want to listen to her. I can’t wait for her to release some solo albums!! Please!!
She is truly marvelous!
She does very well indeed
Clara andrada de la calle : an entire CD is available in UA-cam
I agree so much! We're playing Beethoven 7th next week and I was so happy to see that there is this video with her as principal flute, pretty much my fav principal flute EVER😍
And she's so beautiful ❤️
Extraordinary sound recording using instruments of the era, as in Beethoven’s time . Great young director. Each of soloists were amazing. Love the sound. Great
These are so-called "original instruments", then??
