Big South Fork, Off-Trail, Michigan Camp Road to a Remarkable Overlook High Above No Business!

I had been eyeing this rock outcropping high above No Business and the Ranse Boyatt Homesite for several years. It’s clearly visible from the outstanding John Muir Overlook along the John Muir Trail in Big South Fork. Many times I’ve told myself and hiking partners “Someday I’ll stand on that rock and look back on the John Muir Overlook.” That day finally came! After lots of topographical map study, the route was chosen. We began our hike from Michigan Camp Road, proceeded slightly over 2 miles, off trail to get there. It was even better than expected. Come check out our hike. It was an awesome day!

This one was special for me. I’d been looking at it for years trying to figure out exactly how to get to the overlook. When I finally did it was even better than I imagined!

I love finding them archeaology tags. But it floods my mind with curiosities. Them were some beautiful views from that bluff. Really accented the NoBusiness ruggedness. You had an amazing day.

This undeveloped overlook is the big rock you can see in the distance from the John Muir Overlook.
Years ago while standing on the John Muir Overlook I told myself one day I’ll stand on that big bluff and look back at this one. I, along with some great friends finally made it happen. Not only was it satisfying to do something I always wanted to do but it’s an outstanding overlook! Just seeing John Muir Overlook, No Business Butte, Burke’s Knob and the way No Business Creek winds down the valley is breathtaking!
