YOUR GARDEN IS BEAUTIFUL! I SUPPORT YOU PUTTING...A CHAIR IN YOUR GARDEN...I LOVE SEATING AREAS IN THE GARDEN...IT IS VERY INVITING! THANKS FOR SHARING! USA!
Hello there Diana and thank you so much for visiting all the way from the USA 🇺🇸♥️ I don’t think I’m going to have a chair now after all, I’ve had a rethink, but I will find something as a focal feature, I’m hoping. Wishing you a great Sunday ♥️
Good morning and thank you for joining me in my garden. I’ve actually had a change of mind about a chair now but I do like your suggestion. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend ♥️
Hi there Cindy and thank you, but I’m so pleased I asked you all to help me decide. I’ve had 50/50 opinions for and against and I’ve decided it would be too many chairs so I’ll just have to go plant shopping instead 😆 thanks so much and have a wonderful week ♥️
Hi Janette! I just found you, from Tennessee, USA. Your garden is gorgeous! I think a small bench would look really nice in your new corner. Somewhere to sit, but a different look.
Hello there Cindi and thank you for joining me in my garden all the way from Tennessee!! It’s so lovely to have a new gardening friend ♥️ I’ve actually changed my mind (which happens a lot) and decided not to go with the chair idea, been fun reading everyone’s comments though, about 50/50 for/against but in the end I think it would be chair overkill 😆 and I think I have a better idea!! Hope you have a great week ♥️
Your garden is so beautiful. I think the Trachycarpus would look lovely in the corner. It would become a focal point in the corner with its dramatic leaf structure. But you have created such a lovely place so please do what would please you.
Good morning Bernadette and thank you so much 😊 you’re the second person to suggest moving the Trachycarpus along a bit. I was trying to give it space to get big and also didn’t want to cover up my mirror too much but I do see your point, however I couldn’t attempt moving that great big plant, I’d hate to upset it. But I’ve decided against a chair now and have something else in mind now which you’ll see on Tuesday!! Very excited. Hope you have a great weekend ♥️
I can't believe we are nearly into August ..the weather for July has been miserable but hopefully we will get some sun again soon . Your garden is doing very well as usual . Pleased you mentioned the Veronica I have a blue one and forgot its name 😀
July has been very wet and nothing like last year, but we are so fortunate when compared to all the extreme heat so many countries are experiencing. Was quite sunny today though. The Veronicastrum is one of my favourites, reminds me of lots of candelabras 😊 hope you have a wonderful week ♥️
Hi there Adra and thanks for joining me today. I have decided against a chair!! I’ve had so many comments both for and against and I think it would be one chair too many so … it’s plants instead 👍😎 hope you’re having a great week ♥️
Loving where the cat is Jeanette. Just saw 1 hummingbird fly by and another working the scarlet runner bean vines! They're so quick theyre gone before you realize they've been there. Sorry about the water troubles. They are the worst to deal with 😞 I think. Japanese beetles are what's eating my flowers to bits. Instead of another chair, maybe something a bit taller, a statue?, ancillary?, bird bath? Garden is lovely as ever. Best plant in my garden right now is the bright hot pink purpley gladiolas
Hello Eileen, aww how wonderful to see a hummingbird - we don’t get them over here in Europe unfortunately. I’ve ditched the chair idea now Eileen and so looking for different ideas and I like yours 😊 hope you’re having a great week ♥️
Gosh I thought we were having rainy days . Your garden just looks so vibrant and healthy and so well edited. New water feature and plsnts a fav of mine. Whatever you do with the spot the old fountsin was will be lovely it’s your garden do what makes you happy💃🏻. We gardeners must remember it’s our zen space thst we share with others to enjoy and be inspired 🥰!
Good morning to you and Reg 😊 I’ve had second thoughts now about another chair, can overdo it, so … plant shopping instead 😆 hope you have a lovely day, we have lovely sunshiny weather today but the rain has done the garden the world of good (and the weeds too 🥴), have a lovely day you two ♥️
Hi! Your garden is so full and pretty! I can't believe how fast the lamium is growing! I look at mine and want to give up on it. It sure loves that spot! Have a great week! 🥰
Hello there Peggy, well I do not know what I’ve done to make it so happy!! I guess you’re right and it’s loving it’s spot. Hope you’re having a great week ♥️
😆😆 hello Chuney 👍 I keep getting opposing opinions and of course I end up agreeing with whatever I’m reading 😆 you’ve made me smile though, I am still deciding!! Wishing you a great week ♥️
Hello there and thank you!! I’ve had varying opinions and I think I’ve decided against the idea now. I think it would be a bit of a chair overkill plus at least Richard will be happy and I can go plant shopping instead 😆 hope you’re having a great week ♥️
Good morning to you Magnus and gos wonderful to chat to you again. Well … I have completely changed my mind about a chair now and am currently on to Plan B 😆 and after having further consideration I think it would be one chair too many 😊 so going out shopping for some inspiration instead. Hope you are well and everything is good over in Sweden. Happy Friday to you ♥️
Although you and your husband are the artists of your own garden, I would forego another chair. The spot may be crying out for a shrub that has a longer bloom time for you to enjoy. I am in a subtropical zone that still gets about 10-15 freeze nights in the winter. My go-to for lengthy summer blooms are the following that spring back to life every spring: firebush, oleander, Texas sage, and Mandeville. Outside of that, why not get a quaint bicycle from a thrift shop and set that in the empty space? 🌞 Then add a bicycle basket and plop some flowers into it.🌺
Topaz I love your thinking! And I’ve screenshot your message with your plant suggestions too, so thank you. However, I just know there is no way on earth Richard will let me put a bicycle 🚲 in that corner 😆 (but it would look nice 😆), I think I will look for some gorgeous plants instead 👍 hope you have a great week ♥️
No gardening because of a little rain .. thought that was your normal .. Omg your garden this year... Well it's always beautiful.. but wow I do love the sound of your water feature.. I bet the birds love it
Hello Chris 😆😆 us Brits are not as tough as you Canadians and don’t like to get too wet or cold 🥶😆🥴 I’m just about to comment on your video which I was very sad to see how upset you were today … heading on over to cheer you up ♥️
Instead of another chair, how about a statue, or raised bird bath. I moved into our new house last year, still learning what will grow well. My sunflowers were doing amazing until the slugs climbed to the top and ate all the beautiful yellow petals! Happy gardening.
Hello Maureen and oh those slugs!! So annoying especially losing your sunflowers 🌻 🥴 I am still having a think about what to do there, I don’t think it still be a chair … it’s fun deciding though. I do like a bit of planning!! Hope you’re having a great week ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardenerI agree with Maureen, although I do love the idea of a small bench. But a lovely piece of statuary, birdbath, or garden art would be lovely as well. Really, you can’t go wrong, whatever you put in will make the garden look beautiful, no matter what! I’m no help at all!!😂😂😂
Hello Miki and thank you for your comments. I’ve actually changed my mind on the chair idea now as I thought it would be one chair too many and I think something else would be better. Going to see what I can find!! Have a happy Sunday ♥️
Hello there Kasia and thank you for coming over all the way from Poland. And for your vote for the chair, although if you watch my video for today then you’ll see I had a change of mind 😆 and there is no chair, but something which I like even more 😊 hope you’re ok and having a lovely week ♥️
Hi Lindylou and thank you. I love my snail corner too. Yes, that’s a good idea about the fall planting! Gives me an excuse not to do it yet too 😆 wishing you a great week ♥️
Good morning my friend . Beautiful beautiful flowers . Like sound of the rain at the Beginning of your videos , sometimes I just want to run out and walking around my garden when it rains 😊
Oh yes so do I Max (sometimes I do 😆). We are very lucky to have rain when so many countries are in such heat at the moment so I’m grateful. By the way, your garden is looking amazing, I love seeing all your pictures. Hope you’re having a great week ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener we the fans want to see you running around under the rain 😂. We are lucky to have rain I know , but is hot here for the next few days they say in the 90°s . My poor flowers gonna be struggling 😊
Hello there MM and thank you so much for joining me in my garden today ♥️ well, I have had a few days now to rethink my chair idea and I have decided it’s going to be a ‘no’ 😊 I think it would be one chair too many!! But … I have another and better (I hope) idea which I will share with you in my next video (got to do it all first 😆) but thank you for your ‘yes’ vote, I think overall it was a 50/50 yes/no from everyone, and I so appreciate everyone’s advice ♥️ wishing you a great week 😊
That new fountain is right at home! Why not get more chairs? As long as they fit in the overall aesthetic. Ohh there are bats in the forest behind the house too...I always know its time to wrap up whatever I am doing when I start to see the bats zipping around the garden. Such fun!😝One thing I have learned about clematis is it DOES NOT like its roots disturbed or too much competition from other plants/trees/shrubs, etc.
Hi there AJ, and thank you for joining me in my garden 😊 well, I have decided against another chair now, but I have something new instead which I’m sharing in tomorrow’s video, I hope you like it. I tried to film the bats one evening recently but even in slo-mo I couldn’t really capture them very well. I wonder where mine live during the daytime? Interesting thought. Well we have had so much rain again all this week but the garden loves it so all good. Hope you’re doing ok and still getting lots of lovely eggs ♥️ you take care 🩷
Your garden is beautiful, I had problems with hostas and slugs until I discovered that they do not like sharp soil or mulch so I save my eggshells crush them up and put them around my hostas crown, works a treat
Aha Christine!! I’m so glad you have found the answer! Yes someone did tell me to use sand, but I think I’m too late for my hostas now. I did put little stones all around the edge of the pots but obviously they weren’t sharp enough for my superslugs! Hope you’re having a great week ♥️
I would move one of your other chairs into the new spot for 3 days and live with it before deciding. I loved the sound of your rain! I would prefer to have it over here in my garden but lovely to listen to either way.
Hi there Una, I’ve actually changed my mind now, about having another chair. I think it would be chair overkill 😆 so I think it’s going to be plants instead 👍 after all. Our rain is a blessing when so many countries are suffering so much with such extreme weather conditions, it’s simply incredible what people are having to deal with this summer. I hope you’re ok ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener No rain on the forecast for the centre of Spain unfortunately. Last night and tonight the temps will drop below 20 degrees for a few hours before dawn. I'll take it and try to recover some sleep before the temps creep back up in a couple of days. I can face 38 degrees in the daytime, if the night time temperatures are cooler and I can sleep. I just can't hack tropical nights. You are going to bed at 1am in the morning with 30 degrees outside. Too much. As for the poor dogs they just lie around on the cool stone floors and shed hairs everywhere.
Good morning Lil and yes I have had time to reconsider and I don’t think I’m going to have another chair after all. I think it would be just too much 😆 so I’m having a rethink and probably do a bit of planting shopping for inspiration instead 👍 do appreciate your comments 😊 wishing you a very lovely day ♥️
Hello there Dee and thank you for joining me all the way from Vermont which does sound such a magical place to live! Your Autumns (Fall) must be absolutely spectacular, I’d love to visit some day!! Hope you have a happy Sunday ♥️
we’ve had exactly the same weather up north ! usually even if it’s spitting i’ll go out and check on everything but for the past 2 weeks it’s done nothing but literally pour down 🙁 nevertheless your garden is looking gorgeous janette 🥰 i’ve also just bought a ruby buddleia, so beautiful ☺️
Hi there Andrew, we are so fortunate though when we think about what other countries are experiencing at the moment, and a break from hand watering is nice too. Usually by now my garden is only limping along so at least it’s all looking green and lively. Hope you’re doing ok and having a great week ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener totally agree, some countries would beg for the weather we are getting. july usually is a bit of a wet month but let’s hope we get some good weather soon ☺️💝
You are so lucky. I’m less than 100 miles from you and have had one reasonable light period of rain. Last night a light shower. That’s it. Your garden is looking wonderful. Re chairs. In my opinion, they are a waste of planting space 😊. Yesterday we took the grandchildren to Bodiam Castle. I picked up 3 pots of finished bulbs for 50p each plus 3 second-hand books, one on orchids, one on Poppies and the third on Lillies (not that I can grow the latter). Your Photina looks much better than mine, more sun I suspect. BTW, your Holly-like bush is Osmanthus.
Oh Mark thank you for reminding me - Osmanthis!! I mustn’t forget again!! I heard there’s a lot of rain up in Scotland so there must be a hole in the clouds over you to be missing it. I love the sound of all your purchases. I think you’re right about my chair idea, I think I’m changing my mind about that now, plus good idea to keep Richard happy too 😆 always good to chat to you Mark ♥️
Hello there Flowergirl, I think I’ve changed my mind now though as I’m thinking it might be a bit too much of a good thing. But I’m still having a think so who knows, might change my mind back again tomorrow 😆 hope you have a great week ♥️
Hello there! I love the sound of a purple planter actually, because purple is one of my favourite colours. But … I have now made the change!! It wasn’t a chair!! But a planter!! I’ve put out a video today if you’d like to take a look at the reveal - and I hope you like it ♥️
Hello, Janette! Such loveliness! 💖 Things are looking tired and weedy in my garden. It’s just that hot and humid time of the year. I hope you enjoy your week!
Hello Dawn, I think everyone gets the ‘garden exhaustion’ this time of year, I think it’s because we are so enthusiastic all Spring and then we wear ourselves out by the time Summer comes, that’s me anyway!! Thanks so much for joining me - have a happy week ♥️
Hi Jeanette. Don't know about the chair 🤔. How about some corner shelves with some weeping Jenny and some kind of light? Maybe that's a bit quiche, but anyway, your garden is just lovely lovely lovely 😍. You're right about the weather, it's the same here, gales, rain, cloud a little sun...I keep telling myself that this is better than last years drought and heat but a happy medium would be great. On that note, however, my garden just loves this and is blooming away to, I don't know who, because it's not the kind of weather to be sitting and admiring ones handy work. I, too, spotted an armchair out on the pavement and wanted to put it into my car for the garden... but it was too big 😢. Can't wait to see what you do with that corner. 🙋♀️
😆😆 an armchair 😆 it’s funny what people leave out, but whatever it is always gets taken! I’ve decided against the chair Kim, would be too much. Ridiculous idea 😆😆 as Richard told me! So, it’ll be plants instead, although no idea what. Always think it’s better to have nothing in mind when plant shopping as I can never find what I’m looking for anyway 😆 hope you’re having a lovely week ♥️
Hello there Garnetta and thank you so much! I must admit I do like a bit of colour 🌈 but I’m now thinking I might just have plants in that corner after all. Still … I could change my mind by this time tomorrow 😆 wishing you a great week ♥️
Hello 👋 Janette, wow, your garden is looking so fresh and beautiful for july, which depending on where you live in the world, can be looking worse for the wear with all the heat and humidity 😩 😂. The rain in the beginning of the video looked so peaceful and can be tiresome but at least you receive consistent rainfall which is so important. You must have sent some my way because NY poured this afternoon and the garden loved it. I love the idea of another chair, but also what about a wishing well? It would looked so amazing in that corner. So sorry about your flood, I’m so glad everything is ok after the cleanup. Your roses are gorgeous 🫶Enjoy the rest of your week😊
Hello there Elizabeth and I’m glad you received the rain I ordered for you 😆👍 it does make everything so refreshed and revived, it’s so different this year from last. Everything normally feels rather jaded in the garden in July and August and I lose enthusiasm. I think I’m ditching the chair idea, I agree with one of the comments that it would look and feel too contrived. I agree so I will go and look at plants instead 😊 not a bad problem to have in amongst all the real ones 🙏👍 never thought of a wishing well, that’s an interesting idea! anyway, I hope you are having a really great week. We have sunshine here this morning ☀️😎
Thank you again for the rain☺️💦💦💭, it was needed very badly, hand watering is the pits 😩. We are expecting 100 plus degrees in the next 3 days ugh. I’m glad you are having great weather 😉. I see lots of miniature wishing wells where you can put p,ants in the bucket, so adorable. I received lots of gift cards for my bday so I will be ordering one for one of my flower beds, not sure if I’ll get vinyl or wood. Wood breaks down over time that the bad thing. Can’t wait to see what you decide🤗, hugs
Oh Happy Happy Birthday Elizabeth 🎈🎈🎈 I hope you had a great day!! How excited to be getting a beautiful wishing well too, the perfect choice. Hope you’re ok in the heat, love to you ♥️
Hello Marlise!! Thank you so much! I think I’m going to abandon the chair idea though! I’m going to have to go plant shopping instead!! Hope you have a great week ♥️
Morning Janette, I think a little rought iron chair wd look lovely there, what a pitty you didn't pick that up cause it wd be expensive to buy, it might still be there who nows 😂😂❤ take care the gardens lovely as always. Come back sunshine please byee.
Hello there Helen and lovely to chat to you 😊 I did have a look again recently but the chair had definitely gone, never mind, maybe another chair would be a bit too much 😊 I’ll think of something. Hope you’re ok and having a great week ♥️
Hi Janette, your garden looks beautiful. Everything looks so happy after all that rain. I always think that if I water my garden it'll stay alive but when we have rain it really grows. Makes such a difference. Last Summer was unusually wet here and it was great. Good position for your cat. Does he have a name? I'm thinking if you could get a wrought iron chair it would be a good choice because the yellow one is all wood and the blue one is wood and wrought iron so an all wrought iron chair would make a nice set. Thank you for the tour, I always come away feeling so inspired. Hope you have a great week. Love Bron xx
Good morning Bron and thank you very much. You are so right that there’s nothing so good as rain for our gardens, no matter if we hand water, it never looks as refreshed and revived. I’m changing my mind hourly about another chair now, I think I will go plant shopping for inspiration instead. Wishing you a wonderful day ♥️
Same weather here in the midlands. Your garden is looking good. I have the same trouble with my clamatis my hostas have been eaten as well Yes have another chair 😮 love the snail and tortoises the cat looks good we’re it is Happy Gardening
Hi there Iris and thanks for joining me today ♥️ well it’s good to learn what works in our gardens (even if it takes 30+ years 😆) everyone is telling me it’s too hot for clematis over in that corner as they like cool feet so I must plant in front of my remaining one. So I think it’s going to be plants instead of a chair, I’ve changed my mind, now for some plant shopping instead 😊 hope you have a great week ♥️
Looks lovely Janette at its prime. I am hooked on the Brunnera Macrophylla, only have 2 but after seeing yours in shady corner I would like more. Fed up with all the rain July was bad now August doesn't look great either. Thanks for sharing, bfn. 🐞🌻🌱
Hi. I like to have different places to sit. Nice to have a change of view. Therefore, I vote for a small chair or seat of some sort 😊 sorry to hear about your flooding 😢
Hi there Pauline and thanks for joining me today! I have abandoned the chair idea now!! I have had 50/50 yes and no from everyone but I think in the end it would be chair overkill, now Richard will be happy too. I will think of something else or … plants! I wanted to film all the water gushing over my floors but I didn’t think it would go down too well at that particular moment 😆😆 all dried out now though, at least we don’t have carpets 🥴 hope you’re having a great weekend ♥️
Hi Janette, my 2 cents on another chair. I think there's pros and cons. What I think is good is that you'll be able to enjoy your garden from a different vantage point. What I think is isn't good is you'll lose out on some planting space. I have a few salvias and if you deadhead them they will bloom again and again. It's been raining here every 3 or 4 days (downpours) but very nice on the days it isn't raining. I was walking around the garden this morning and I'm amazed by the amount of plants that have self seeded. As for your slug problem have you tried the slug and snail killer I recommended? It's called Corry's. I have virtually no damage on my hostas and I have at least 50. And as I walk in my yard, if I happen to see a slug I send it to slug heaven.
Hello there!! Thanks so much for your opinion, very valid! I agree and will probably just plant there, Richard will be happy about that too. I haven’t noticed my plants self seeding but then again I might be pulling seedlings up assuming they are weeds, quite possible. I haven’t tried Corry’s because when I googled it said that it could be poisonous if my dogs eat it and Lotte in particular ate all the slug pellets when I put those down, she tries to eat my rose fertiliser too 🥴 but oh my goodness to have all those hostas you are definitely doing something right 👍 hope you’re having a great week ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Hi Janette, I just did a Google search for dog safe slug killer. I found something called: Eradicate Eco snail and slug bait. It says it's totally safe around dogs. I hope this helps you.
Beautiful garden!!! Love the lattice on the fence..might have to do the same in mine. I'm in Mckinleyville Calif by the Sea and Redwoods 🌊🌲🌲🌲 cool weather planting. Take care 🙂
Hello there Janette. I totally agree with you about another seating area, especially with the broad expanse of sky that you can enjoy. The seat will just give you another perspective. Garden's are not all about as many plants that you can just bung in.The cat must be a Tom ! because he keeps wandering around in a whimsical kind of way, as does the snail rising up in the world. Lovely to listen to you Janette. All the best, and try not to get into hot water.
Good morning Ron and thank you for joining me today. It’s funny I have had a couple of “no chairs” comments and “yes, a chair” comments and I’m am so easily swayed I end up agreeing with whomever I’m listening to 😆 but it’s fun to do a bit of planning and so all good. Sun has come out this morning and fortunately our floors dried out and we don’t have carpets so could have been worse. Hope you have a really lovely day ♥️
Hello Bonny, I have pretty much ditched the chair idea now but I’m so glad for everyone’s input. I do have obelisks stored by my shed, I could see what it would look like. Thank you Bonny!! Hope you’re having a good week ♥️
Morning Janette. Oh No! water inside the house as well as outside and having to use all your towels to mop it up. So sorry for you both. Least said soonest mended. Your Brunnera are doing very well, l am giving up on Hostas and replacing them with Brunnera. Might that be a consideration for you. I'm not into Escargot 🤭 Like the idea of a chair in the corner where your fountain was, but not a lime green one 🙃. Perhaps moving your Turquoise one to the old fountain area and keep your Turquoise Apple nearby. Then put a new chair where the Turquoise one had been. Don't think lime green would be my first choice as you have lots of different greens in your plants, so not enough contrast. Can't you leave a note and ask if the chair doner has another, like the Flamingoes 🤭 Your garden looks fabulous, l love how full and interesting your choice of plants are. So many different textures. I must work on that. Oh! yes do refresh Carnival Corner into a fun place again. Yesterday it finally stopped raining and we even had a bit of ☀️. Happy gardening.
Good morning to you Penny and oh yes Brunnera are our new favourites, who needs Hostas 😆😆 so grateful for your design tips, I do appreciate them. I’m since thinking a chair would be overkill perhaps. Richard has so far put his foot down anyway. But anyway it’s part of the fun having a think isn’t it? The sun has come out this morning but I have to do my office work which I’ve been putting off so I’m going to walk the girls and then do a couple of hours of that before anything more fun. Fortunately our floor dried out and we don’t have carpets! Wishing you a great day ♥️
Hi Janette. Thank u for the tour of ur very lovely garden! I would do a chair in ur spot It would b the perfect size. U could always put pot of flowers on top of it or a basket with trailing vines if u prefer to not leave it available for seating!
Hello there Mary and thank you for coming along with me today. I think I might abandon the dear idea now I’ve had a chance to think more about it. Not sure what I’ll do, but there’s always plants of course 😊 hope you’re ok and having a great week ♥️
Hi there love your garden . I think a chair would look great, my garden is smaller than yours and I have chairs all over. Some of them I place pots of grasses on because my cockapoo likes to eat them. It’s been raining here in Yorkshire too. Happy gardening.x
Good morning Helen, your garden and your cockapoo sound delightful. I am now in two minds about the extra chair but it’s all good fun doing a bit of planning 😊 beautiful sunshine here this morning - wishing you a lovely day ♥️
Your garden is looking lovely Janette. We've had a few consecutive days of heavy rain and it's flattened a lot of my annuals which is disappointing. The weather is so different to last year's isn't it? I have the same Clematis as you and it does well in my garden but I've got others that don't thrive at all. I bought one a few months ago called Avalanche after seeing Paul T's and hope it will do well in the Spring. Hope you get some nice weather for your Summer break Janette. Has your school broken up yet?
Hi Wendy and yes you are so right, the weather is totally different to last year. I’m sad your annuals have been flattened, that’s so disappointing. It actually hasn’t rained today but I’ve been in our office (the cabin) working all morning so I resisted the urge to do gardening. School broke up for me 2 weeks ago and oh my goodness I am just loving my time off. It’s heavenly just having no alarm clock!! I love it!! Hope you’re having a great week ♥️
The cat looks perfect there, so cute peaking out. Yes I could see another bench or chair in the spot you said. I really like the ones Richard fixed up. We have earwigs this year. I cut some Dahias and the buggers came jumping out all over my kitchen counter. Yuk. You garden is beautiful, I look forward to seeing you and what you have been doing in the garden every week. Oh, the fountain is so nice.
Hello there Nancy and thank you for coming along today, always lovely chatting to you. I love my cat there too 😊 but I think I will give up on the chair idea, have to let him get his way sometimes 😆 so I’m going to have to go plant shopping instead 👍 oh my goodness, earwigs!! I don’t think I’ve ever suffered that problem so don’t have any solutions I’m afraid. How annoying, but I hope you have a great week ♥️
Hi there Kathleen and thanks for visiting my garden today. I am going back and forth on the chair idea now, might go plant shopping instead 😆 hope you have a great day ♥️
Good to see you Janette Beautiful tour of your July garden. You did make me laugh about the the snail disappearing amid the lamium. Don't we want all the snails to disappear😂😂 So unfair that we can't plant those gorgeous dahlias for the whole of our gardening life. People who succeed never really tell you the secret do they? Yes, get another seat. Maybe with a footstool? Always enjoy your vlogs. Sorry about your flood. Shocking as well as inconvenient. Another dull weather day in essex😵☔💕
Good morning Sharon!! The sun has just come out this morning although it had rained overnight. I’m so glad I have a vote for another chair 😆 and yes that Lamium is going wild which I’m so pleased about. You have the dahlia problem too?!! So annoying isn’t it? I didn’t think when I moved them! Oh well. I still have them but they got quite munched 😆 hope you have a lovely week ♥️
I vote "no chair", instead some other interesting feature, like a planted up old wheelbarrow, an old rusted planted up wagon, an old planted up well, etc. I think another colored chair would look too intentional and contrived. Whatever you decide, Janette, will be beautiful. Cheers
I’m so pleased you have said intentional and contrived Gina because you are exactly right. It would look like that! I’m abandoning the idea and going plant shopping instead because there’s no way on earth Richard would allow a planted wheelbarrow in that corner 🥴😆 so lovely to chat to you, and have a great week ♥️
Your garden is looking wonderful in July. That lily in amongst the lamium is a calla lily, sorry I don't recognize the foliage of the white flowering one. I was thinking your buddleia would be nice in that empty corner, just my 2 cents. I seen I think on one of the RHS garden episodes, they suggested copper to ward off slugs, maybe some rows of copper tape on your pots would help.? Wish I was getting some of your rain.
Ah yes! A calla Lily, you are right Wende! I am going backwards and forwards with the chair idea but I think plants will end up winning. Keep Richard happy 😊 and then I could put the buddleia there too. Hope you’re having a great week ♥️ I’ve tried the copper tape too, it didn’t seem to work for me and my ‘superslugs’. 🥴😆
Hi there Terri!! Oh I am impressed with you 👍😆♥️ it is nice to view from all angles isn’t it? However … I think I’ve decided it’s a no for the chair now, I’m thinking of different options. Or maybe just plants … I could of course change my mind again by this time tomorrow 😆 hope you’re having a great week ♥️
If it's possible, I would try to discretely tie up your sedums before they start to split in the middle. Maybe try a cats cradle type stringing. Also I've just noticed your plum tree looks like it has been girdled at the bottom. Sorry if I'm wrong as I can't quite see properly 👍👍
Oh yes Pat, you are so right!! I left it a bit too late last year, although I did do that in the end. Thank you for reminding me, especially as all the rain we are having (thankfully) is splaying them apart. You are wonderful to remind me 🙏🩷♥️ wishing you a lovely week!!
The garden is looking lovely Janette, a chair would be lovely, an other idea would be a garden ornament like a lady or another type ornament I love them I have a lady concrete statue in a corner of my garden and a couple of mini cherub like ones in an another flower bed but I do understand it may not be some thing you would like and of course the chair would look lovely
Hello there Chris and lovely to chat to you. I’m having second thoughts on the chair option now I have to say, I think it would be a bit of chair overkill 😆 plus have to let Rich make some decisions every once in a while 😆 your ornaments sound lovely though, I will keep my eyes peeled and I’m sure I’ll get some inspiration at some point 😊 hope you’re having a great day ♥️
Hello Jeanette, thanks for sharing your lovely garden. It’s beautiful. Saw your nice and healthy ‘little princess’ acer, could you please share on some companion plants for acer little princess? and do you prune the acer? Love the shape of it😍 Thank you
Hello there Olivia and thank you so much for joining me in my garden today. I love my Little Princess Acer too, as you can see it’s very small and slow growing but eventually they can reach 1.5 metres, but if mine ever gets that big I’d be delighted as it meant I’d looked after it well 😊 as for companion plants, they like acid soil so other plants which like acid soil are azaleas or ornamental conifers, or hellebores as well, that would look lovely. It doesn’t require any pruning apart from removing any dead bits occasionally so I’ll leave it alone and resist the urge to snip bits off. Hope you’re having a wonderful week ♥️
Thank you so much for your reply, Jeanette. It’s so helpful as I am a beginner gardening. Always looking forward to your videos. You yeah, forgot to mention in my previous message, would be lovely to have a chair at that corner you asked for our opinion.😘
Oh you are so welcome Olivia, I love chatting to everyone. Actually I think I have changed my mind on the chair idea now, I think it might be a bit too much so I think I’ll look for lovely plants to add instead. I could change my mind again though 😆😆♥️
With the size of the area that you have there ... that would be the perfect spot for a garden swing ... and maybe the reason that your Clematis have struggled is that they like to be planted deep and the roots shaded ... try planting something in front of them for shade ... just a thought ... OMG August .... all ready .... I still need to do things that needed to be done in April .... !!!
Yes! Of course you are right about the clematis. Totally wrong spot for them, so true about right plant right place isn’t it? I think Richard would have a fit if I suggest a garden swing Shirlene 😆 and you’ve done so much in your garden this year so far!! Every time we chat you are building paths and mulching etc etc and I get exhausted after a bit of deadheading 😆 you deserve trophy of the week 🏆😆♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener LOL ... No not really .... I get my energy and more motivation when working in the yard ... Don't move the Clematis just put a plant or something on the ground in front of them to shade them .... I am planning in my mind how to send some of my images to you so that you can see my garden .... you know me by now that there is so much stuff going on in my life that some just things get push to the end of the list.... I need my days to be longer .... So much to do so little time ... !!!
Oh I would love to see your photos when you get a bit of time, I am on Facebook if that’s any good, maybe you could DM me, or my email address is j.jensen1@sky.com That’s another option ♥️
Can I offer my suggestion? Instead of another chair, I would move the Trachycarpus in the corner. That would balance the view without overshadowing clematis trellises. Good luck gardening, it is always a process, isn't?
Hello there and thank you so much for joining me in my garden. I’m actually rethinking the whole chair idea now and I will probably just go plant shopping instead 😆 I don’t think I would attempt moving my Trachycarpus though, I’d hate to upset it! Let sleeping dogs lie as the saying goes. It’s all fun planning things though. Here’s wishing you a fabulous week ♥️

Hello there, yes that would be lovely, I agree. Funny I had a frog on my back door step a couple of nights ago, he jumped away when I disturbed him (or her) but I wondered where on earth it came from since I have no holes in fences as I have gravel boards all round, and no pond or water apart from my fountain. A bit of a puzzle. Anyway, thank you for watching and I hope you’re having a great week so far ♥️
Your garden is looking so lovely. Have you tried moving your panicle hydrangea to give it more sun? I think my climate is similar to yours and my panicle hydrangeas do very well in full sun. I'm in the Seattle, Washington area of the US.
Hi there Elizabeth and thank you so much! I think you are right and I should try moving my hydrangea 😊 I will wait for the Autumn and give that a go. It’s been in that spot probably 2 years now and never done that well so it’s definitely well worth a shot. Raining here again now but it does make the garden look refreshed so I’m not complaining 😊 wishing you a lovely week ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener I think waiting for fall to move the hydrangea is a great idea. Hopefully it will like it's new home and bloom abundantly next year as a thank you! Have a great week!
We've had weeks of weather that's been above 35°C and the rainy season didn't bring much rain to my sparse garden. Typhoon season is up next, so I fear for my young trees. 😩 I'd love a clematis like yours. 👍🏽
Hello there Bikegeist, if I remember right you are in Japan? I think so. I am not complaining about our rain, so many countries are having such heat and all the news at the moment is the fires in Greece!! How long does your typhoon last for? I hope you’re having a lovely week ♥️
Hi Janette, hope you are well? Not water logged with the weather and house floods? I enjoyed your garden tour, learnt so much especially helpful having the names of each plant displayed on screen. I appreciate your time and effort to create this tour. As for the chair, I think try it, find one that is different from the others, shape colour etc. If it does work then remove it. I realised seeing your standard fruit trees( cherry plum)if I could use one to replace my bay tree. I lost it last winter, it lived in a pot next to my front door. We fancied having a spiral topiary but they are so expensive.Any suggestions? Your garden is looking beautiful by the way. I don't feel as guilty now knowing even you haven't done a few garden jobs! How is your mum's garden re new decking and furniture? Well it's sunny here in Cheshire, the rail is set to return later! We are off to Portmadog next week ( caravan with our grand daughters)we are braced for the worse... Not the children the weather! Lpl...so booked a few trips out...eg Portmeirion Italian village. Take care, let's hope August will allow us to use the patio furniture? Take care. S from Cheshire
Good morning Stephen and we have a beautiful sunshiny day here today which is lovely but all the rain has really done the garden a lot of good (and the weeds are happy too!). I think a fruit tree would be a perfect alternative to your Bay, I think even if we never get fruit they still look nice. I just had to Google Porthmadog and it looks beautiful so I wish you a great trip with the grandchildren (you did make me laugh with your ‘expecting the worse’ reference 😆 I have had second thoughts about the chair now but it’s been fun reading everyone’s opinions and suggestions, probably 50/50 for/against a chair, but in the end I think it will be chair overkill and now at least Rich will be pleased. I meant to add the film of Mums furniture I took the other day! I had uploaded this video on to YT, added all the description and thumbnail etc (which takes a while) and then thought oh damn I forgot Mum’s clip, but it was too much effort to redo all the uploading 🥴 so I will put that in next week’s. She’s coming over this morning (I’m on school holidays 🙏) so will take a trip probably to a garden centre knowing us, and see what I can spot to go in the corner. Always lovely chatting to you and wish you a fantastic holiday with your family too 😎♥️
Enjoy your school holidays, I know all the teachers and staff deserve a rest. Any plans? We will be checking out fruit trees now. Looking forward to your next video with your mum's garden S
Thank you!! I have a few lunches with friends and a day trip to Brighton with Mum but apart from that I’m just going to do whatever I feel like on the day!! It’s a marvellous feeling 👍😊♥️
Hope you are having a relaxed and enjoyable summer break from school. Off to Wales tomorrow, looking forward to it no matter what the weather throws at us! S
Hello there Dawn and thank you so much! Well not exactly a she-shed 😆 but it is our garden cabin that we use for our office. I keep meaning to use it for exercising in as well - but of course that never happens 😆😆 thanks so much for your lovely comment ♥️
Good morning Mary and thank you for visiting my garden today. I don’t think there’s enough room for that, and I must confess I am straying from the chair idea now I’ve had a bit of time to consider. Might go looking at plants for inspiration instead. Wishing you a great day ♥️
Good morning Terrie and thank you for watching. I don’t seem to have much luck with hydrangeas and possibly that corner might be too hot for one? They are of course so beautiful though. I’m still deciding, but I don’t think I’ll have a chair now 😆 have a happy day ♥️
Hi on one of your older videos you sowed winter pansies straight into plug trays, did they come through ok ? as I'm thinking of doing the same in the next week hope you can help thanks
Oh yes I did, they were so slow to grow and I think I started them around August time and planted them out in Spring, so certainly took a really long time, but they did very well in the end and flowered really well. Certainly worth a try if you have patience to wait for them. ♥️
Hi there Martha, well I think that would actually look very lovely and a really great idea ♥️ I’ve decided against a chair now as I think it would be a bit too much 😆 but I have had another idea 😊😆♥️ wishing you a great week 😊
If it was me, I would ditch the big, boxy seating pieces and replace them with something more open made of iron or wood. If you put a chair in that spot, these pieces obstruct the view.
I really do agree with you!! I’d like to change those big boxy rattan seats. I think something with legs, raised up off the ground, would be so much better 😊👍♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Here in America, at the end of the summer the big stores discount garden furniture. This is a good time to buy if you can find something left you want to buy. Maybe it works the same way where you live. I really do dislike your set. I own a three seat cushioned swing with a canopy and it sits on my deck. This would be nice in your garden as well.
Yes, I believe they do have sales at the end of the season here most likely. Something less boxy would be very nice. Anyway, wishing you a great day ♥️
Hello Sara and yes, I think a chair is now out the window and I have something else in mind now, which I’m hopefully going to do today - excited ♥️ thanks for telling me your thoughts, so appreciated. Have a very happy Friday 😊
Good morning Paula and thanks for joining me in my garden! I agree with you, I’ve changed my mind about a chair as I think it would be one chair too many. I’m not having a lot of luck with hydrangeas here though unfortunately. But I’ll see what I can find, it’s all fun anyway!! Happy Sunday to you ♥️
YOUR GARDEN IS BEAUTIFUL!
I love chairs! They're like an invitation to relax. That corner plant looks tropical. How about something like a hammock chair.
Good morning and thank you for joining me in my garden. I’ve actually had a change of mind about a chair now but I do like your suggestion. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend ♥️
Hi Janette!
13:31 I love this area!
Your garden just keeps getting better and better as the seasons come and go.
Nice job!
Aww thanks so much Nikki, you are just so lovely, as always. Wishing you a really fabulous weekend my friend ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Thanks Sis!
I think some of your chairs are like plants. I like how you can go into your borders, sit, look around, think and drink tea. It sounds lovely.
I am the lady trying to grow all the cuttings and fuchsia ❤️❤️🥰
Oh yes MM, I remember!! How are they all doing? 😊👍
Hi Janette, everything is looking beautiful. I think a chair would look lovely in that spot. Have a wonderful day.
Hi there Adra and thanks for joining me today. I have decided against a chair!! I’ve had so many comments both for and against and I think it would be one chair too many so … it’s plants instead 👍😎 hope you’re having a great week ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener I'm sure what ever you decide will look beautiful.
Yes enthusiastically yes, another chair!!! Yes !!!
😆😆 hello Chuney 👍 I keep getting opposing opinions and of course I end up agreeing with whatever I’m reading 😆 you’ve made me smile though, I am still deciding!! Wishing you a great week ♥️
Love the cat perfect place😊
Oh thank you Brooke, I love it there too. I’m going to keep it there now. Hope you’re having a great week ♥️
Definitely a chair! It’s a beautiful view from that point.
Hello there and thank you!! I’ve had varying opinions and I think I’ve decided against the idea now. I think it would be a bit of a chair overkill plus at least Richard will be happy and I can go plant shopping instead 😆 hope you’re having a great week ♥️

Oh thank you.
Garden looks good Janette! Obviously you need a new seating area! Tell Richard we all want to see him build some new chairs.🙂👍
Well it's always beautiful.. but wow
I do love the sound of your water feature..
Hello from Poland! Absolutely you should put a chair in this new corner of your garden. The view will be amazing. Regards. Kasia
Hello there Kasia and thank you for coming over all the way from Poland. And for your vote for the chair, although if you watch my video for today then you’ll see I had a change of mind 😆 and there is no chair, but something which I like even more 😊 hope you’re ok and having a lovely week ♥️
Lovely & lush! You could save your unpotted pots for fall planting. Loving your snail/turtle lamium garden…filling in so perfectly!

Beautiful mesmerising garden ❤️🥰 I think a chair will look so whimsical ❤️🥰
Too much. Hi there Andrew, we are so fortunate though when we think about what other countries are experiencing at the moment, and a break from hand watering is nice too.

Yes absolutely another chair! That's what attracted me to your channel..so colorful
Hope you’re ok in the heat, love to you ♥️
Thank you so much!!!! Love and hugs to you🥰🥰💕💕
It’s nice to have chairs🪑in each area of your garden🪴
A place to stop 🛑 sit and enjoy your BEAUTIFUL 🌳garden‼️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener yeah maybe another chair wd be 2 much but always good to keep incase u need more, have a good week x❤
Plants instead then!! 👍😎♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener definitely 🥰🤣
Wishing you a wonderful day ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener A wonderful reason to go plant shopping, have fun!
Thank you Jane, I think Brunneras are in my top 5 ♥️
I will be interested to see what goes in the corner 😊
So will I 😊😆
Hi Janette, my 2 cents on another chair. I think there's pros and cons. What I think is good is that you'll be able to enjoy your garden from a different vantage point. What I think is isn't good is you'll lose out on some planting space. I have a few salvias and if you deadhead them they will bloom again and again. It's been raining here every 3 or 4 days
(downpours) but very nice on the days it isn't raining.
I found something called:
Eradicate Eco snail and slug bait.
It says it's totally safe around dogs. I hope this helps you.
Oh thank you so much 😊🙏♥️
Beautiful garden!!! Love the lattice on the fence..might have to do the same in mine. I'm in Mckinleyville Calif by the Sea and Redwoods 🌊🌲🌲🌲 cool weather planting. Take care 🙂
Hi there Debra, and it must be so beautiful in California, I’ve only been once, way back in 1987!! Thank you so much for watching ♥️
Beautiful Janette 🍃🌸🍃
Aww thank you so much Jasmine, all the rain we’ve had in July!! The garden has loved it 😊 hope you’re having a great week ♥️
Hope you have a really lovely day ♥️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener FAB UUU LAAS ❤

Janette your garden is looking stunning. What about an obelisk with a rose or clematis or a statue for that area. Bonny
Oh good can’t wait to see what you get!
A garden bench would be nice
Hi there Kathleen and thanks for visiting my garden today. I am going back and forth on the chair idea now, might go plant shopping instead 😆 hope you have a great day ♥️

Good to see you Janette
Beautiful tour of your July garden.
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Poo poo on Richard. Expand your horizons, Rich. Would he allow a planted golf bag...a bit of whimsy 😆😁
😆😆😆 I’ll ask him 😆🥴
Your garden is looking wonderful in July.
Very beautiful! Subscribed!
Hi there Linda and thank you so much for joining me in my garden - so lovely to have a new gardening friend 🩷
Jeanette I have a chair in every corner!

Love the shape of it😍
Thank you
Hello there Olivia and thank you so much for joining me in my garden today.
Beautiful garden.
Hello Linda and thank you so much for joining me in my garden today ♥️
I2:35 I'd put a little wildlife pond in the corner.

I'd love a clematis like yours.
Take care.

Hello there Dawn and thank you so much! Well not exactly a she-shed 😆 but it is our garden cabin that we use for our office. I keep meaning to use it for exercising in as well - but of course that never happens 😆😆 thanks so much for your lovely comment ♥️
A bistro table with two small chairs would be nice if room permitted.

I think a standard hydrangea would be beautiful in that corner
