I have been looking for something like this. Thank you so much. Trying to build a treehouse outside with stuff I found in the house I bought. This will be the perfect inspiration for all my weekends to come.
Wow! Your work is amazing. I appreciate all of the comments and tips too. A bridge is now in the design for my DYI catio project. Thank you for sharing.
Great! I'm glad it helped. I have learned since this to make sure your rope doesn't stretch. Over time the handrail rope i used has started to sag causing the side netting to also sag.
@@EveningWoodworker and also, do you think it would solve the problem of net sagging itself? or better go straight with non-stretching rope (in place for paracord) for net? Because due to a big diameter of handrail rope and material (cotton) the handrail rope would stretch anyhow.. and a plastic rope isn't so "nice" to touch.. especially for soft baby hands..
@@EveningWoodworker i've researched a bit just now, that polyester and cotton cords barely stretch compare to others (its net, we are talking about) and I've used polyester cord elsewhere and i can tell you, that if you slide it fast out of your hand, it would burn and sting quite hard. The point is, if you make a net out of polyester rope, it'll look pretty and maybe wouldn't stretch at all, but if you'd have kids wrestling and falling on it, they will have some nasty stings on their skin.. so I think i would go ONLY with cotton cord for the net... hope it was helpful...

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. We want to build a rope bridge to connect two raised platforms on our outdoor playset. Would you recommend using the same method of running a wire rope through the boards if the bridge will be exposed to the elements?
@@lukeleppitt9397 Try to find some cord that has little to no stretch. I haven't done more research into what type that should be yet, but over time and with kids hanging on it, it hasn't stayed as tight as I would like.
The rope on the top is just to support the netting so it's just knotted at either end after going through the posts. The weight of the bridge is held up almost entirely by the cables underneath.
Right. I just figure the rope should hold the full weight of kids as well if they hang on it etc. Figuring out how to knot mine and keep it somewhat taut.
As long as the posts are well anchored, a good overhand knot should hold the rope from slipping back through the hole. Unless you're not going through the post
@@EveningWoodworker I made the bridge, and for the rubber spacers I cut the 3/8" pieces myself from carburetor hose from my local auto parts store ($2 per foot). It was effective, easy and cheap!
Thanks! The distance between the two platforms is 4 feet. So with the sag of the weight of the bridge, plan on at least an extra 8 inches in length for this span.
I bought 250ft which was more than enough. I would recommend using a different kind of rope though that does not stretch. The paracord is tending to stretch over time and the net can sag
Just based on my research online, I think polyester rope would be much better for a non-stretchy rope. I also looked at sisal but it sheds too much for an indoor net.
The only thing I’m struggling with is what you did to the cord at the end... washers and wire clip ... what are these parts called or do the hardware guys at the local store just know exactly where to point me? Help! Lol
Those are called wire rope clips. They are common in the cable area of the store. Usually you double or triple them up as a backup. I also added a loop of wire wrapping around the second clip to make sure couldn't escape or work its way out.
There should have been extra rails only inside because kids tend to bump into walls the same as these rails and you don't want those things coming out and the kids falling 3 ft and breaking its leg
Good job. Making a Cindi betch fairy bridge between two tree that she frequently climbs. Nice, next project. Thank you❤

Excellent.

I love it... I will take a shot at making one for my grandkids. You're amazing.
They will love it!
What a beautiful rope bridge. I've learned a lot by watching this.
Awesome work!

@@EveningWoodworker hi (: but can't you just retie the knot on the handrail rope, therefore tightening it a bit again...?
@@EveningWoodworker just keep tightening it over the years.. (assuming you keep it that long)

Amazing workmanship.
Thank you very much!
Thank you. I was almost ready to buy a bunch of rope but I like your solution better.
Nice job.
Wow this is awesome. Great job friend.
Thanks!
Really cool! Thanks
Thanks! Glad you like it
Brilliant
your kids imagination must be running wild with that thing that would be so cool as a kid, I'm hyped and im in my mid 30s hahaa awesome job
They do have fun being creative in there! And I have fun too!

Yes it should still work as long as the platforms are securely anchored. The bridge will tend to pull the two together
Is the underneath fort also doubling as secret dad nap cubby?!
Aaron Placke I hadn't thought of that but I bet I could figure out how to make that work!
Like the bridge idea with paracord. Wanna do something similar for my treehouse about 9 feet off the ground. What diameter of paracord did you use?
I think this was just the 1/8" stuff. Good luck!
Where did you find those rubber spacers. I can't find them even online
Here's where I got them from: amzn.to/3p5gNFa
What kind of trees are you using?
These are Vine Maple
My cats need this...
Those would be some lucky cats!
Have you had any trouble with that cable stretching over time ?
The cable has been fine, however the rope has started to stretch and sag a bit. Next time I wouldn't use paracord.
@@EveningWoodworker What would you use inseat? Just static cord?

Where you able to find rubber spaces at a local home improvement center?
Nope... in order to get the size and diameter I wanted, I had to get it on Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B01ASJ9DG4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.dZjBbWXAZE0Z

How long did this take u?
For the finished indoor treehouse it tool about 8 months
How long did you cut the boards ( the ones that you stained ), how long are they ?
The boards for the bridge are 20" long
How long is the bridge
The bridge is 52" long
How wide is the bridge?
The span is 4 feet and the width is 24 inches
My dad is a builder so he said I could have a treehouse in my room so I am going to show him your videos so he can do it for me

Good tip... but they've done well so far!
Be better outside though
Will you be my dad?
Haha! It's fun to make the stuff that I always imagined as a kid.
Your kids will be out of the house before your done
Only took about 8 months to complete... but they're still here!
DIY? That’s a whole job..😑
It definitely takes a while to finish it, but it's definitely doable.
