      Hey, just wanted to warn about some extra prices for european customers. It might cost about an extra 10-12€ for the shipping, but ALSO a whopping 25€ for the customs duty. It might depend on each country but either way it ends up costing about the price of 2 boxes (32€ for a single one)

    The big character models inside isabelle's net are probably only shrunk when the net is rendered (visble on screen). As soon as it disappears, the character grows back (even if it disappeared because of an intense zoom in). The same applies for the shrinking after zooming back. Game realises the net is rendered, then it shrinks the model. Makes you think what those moves would look like using invisibility.

      Afaik invisibility is a material, not an outright un-culling, so it probably wouldn't affect the characters in the net. I could be wrong, since they could have adjusted for that so that it doesn't show the weird shrunk characters.

    It's funny how Wolf is always one of the most interesting characters animation-wise. In Brawl, it's cause his move-set was just a Chimaera of a bunch of others and in this game it's because he's just... break dancing.

    1:17 I'm the complete opposite, Toon Link's sword sounf effects are unbelievably satisfying to me to a point where I sometimes only pick him just to hear his strong sword attack sounds. There's something that hits it just right that makes me satisfied, I didn't think anyone disliked it though!

    My guess on the wolf blaster thing is that they copy pasted fox’s code to wolf as a template, and removed the smoke effect asset from wolf’s character, but forgot to remove the code that calls that effect. So, when the asset is loaded in the match, it gets used

      I would like to think that Wolf is using an extra deadly mode on his blaster specifically for Fox, and only changes it back in Squad Strike. Although why he changes it back, I don't know.

    13:22 My guess is that what gets shrunken down isn't hard coded, instead the game checks what part of the model clips and shrinks down everything it needs to. Since the net disappears when you zoom in far enough, maybe the game can't check if anything is clipping because the net gets disabled, thus setting the model to normal size once the frame updates

      It would be insanely more difficult (and CPU intensive) to check whether something clips than simply have a defined bone-scale for each character (which is already what they do with Wario).

    I think the toon link sounds are fitting for making him seem more cartoonish to help differentiate from young link.

    I think the thing with Toon Link is how in-game they describe him as an "Anime" character. I thought the new sound effects distinguished him a lot, because it was also weird, in my opinion, that beforehand he used to have punch/kick attack sounds instead of sword ones.
    It helps too if you actually do watch anime, because his new sword slashes have been compared to HunterXHunter sound effects when someone gets hit, which tends to sound very airy and loose. I think that's what they were going for, not the "wet noodle" or "banana hitting a wall" deal like everyone tends to say.

    Wolf's Blaster producing black smoke when Fox is in a match is due to Wolf being built off of Fox. If you modded the game to give a certain alternate costume a different effect and be in the same match as themselves, it will play the original effect rather than the new one. The move probably still shares the coding from Fox's Blaster.

    Personally I love the toon link sound effects!! They totally fit his "toon" design, and help differentiate him from the rest of the cast (and the other links, for that matter). Also, I'm gonna go against the majority here and say that they DO sound satisfying to land, but in their own way.

    For the net thing, I'm pretty certain it's just based on whether the net is currently being rendered. When you zoom in far enough the net stops being rendered, so I assume the game is like "ah, no net, no reason to shrink anything down".
    Also, I'd love to see a vid about the aesthetics of different stages.
    Also also, "speaking of Wolf disfiguring himself" is probably one of the funniest transitions you've used.

    noticed something with terry. if you roll to the ledge with the opponent onstage, than the opponent jumps over you, going offstage, terry will not do the ledge tetter animation, but instead will do the idle animation, and his leg will twitch strangely as it slides over the ledge

    The toon link sound effect is remedied in my opinion but hd rumble. The rumble has a lot more base and actually sells the power of each move, with the weird effect on top. Still strange why they didn’t use the wind waker sound though.

    11:10 my hypothesis behind the smoke was Wolf simply switching his blaster to a more powerful mode in order to get an edge against his rival. But the only difference in power that appears in game is the smoke, since otherwise it’d be unfair.

    The smoke is a classic situation of the files for the effect being in the character specific archive for Fox and them failing to notice the effect not working when copying the character data. It's quite common to cheat QA by having the code ignore errors like this.

    In Smash 4, Toon Link's sword had the Punch sound, so it was brought back in the trailer.
    I personally love the Ultimate version of the sword. It feels wind-ish ! But yeah, maybe the WW sounds would have work better

    Morray Towers is my favorite stage aesthetically.
    I really enjoyed the city background and how no matter what variant you're playing on you can watch Ink get splatted onto the stage from the foreground, during the starting count down

    It’s just easier to make the head symmetrical when modeling, so it’s just easier to have him with both eyes than to have him with only one eye being modeled and the other without since it won’t normally be seen.

    It's likely that Fox was used as the base character for Wolf, and so they left it in that Wolf's projectiles refer to one of Fox's effects by accident. Since it refers to something that Fox owns but Wolf doesn't, it can only load when Fox is loaded too. However, the effect is so small that it never got caught in development, and wasn't a priority in patching.

    In regards to Wolf's blaster effect, they likely copied Fox as a base for Wolf's moveset, but forgot to change the graphic effect for the blaster hit. Basically all characters have character specific graphic effects, and if you tried to load those when the character isn't there it simply doesn't show the effect... so because that one bit of code that calls up the effect is still in Wolf's file (but not the graphic effect itself) it spawns the gfx when Fox is loaded in.

    Controversial opinion: Great Cave Offensive is my fave stage both aesthetically and gameplay-wise.
    I love the stages that have a lot of things to interact with and cause chaos and that stage is chock-full of them, as well as being huge for extra shenanigans.

      Yes, it’s very faithful to the original game but here’s the thing: *It doesn’t translate well into Smash.* Look at Mario Bros. or 75m. They’re well recreated but translating a level from a different game into a platform fighter rarely turns out well.

    The Megaman side tilt attack is tied to the animation of walking. So the assist trophy thinks the attack is present still. Even if the shooting portion has ended. Since walking is part of the attack and the walking still persists.

    Wolf theory: His sci-fi techno eyepatch was actually more of a monocle, enhancing his vision in his left eye. However, it provided an obvious target and his eye was eventually shot out during a ground skirmish, leading to the realistic eyepatch we have now.

    I main toon link, and at the time of watching this video, I was practicing some TLink combos. The ‘wet noodle’ honestly kinda makes sense, giving the slash a cartoony type of effect, similar to the ones in Minish Cap, another game where link is pretty cartoonish

    I think that the reason Wolf's blaster has a smoke effect specifically around Fox is actually personal rather than code spaghetti. Perhaps he put his blaster on a higher setting out of spite for Fox, since they're still enemies. Doesn't explain why this isn't the same against Falco, but at least it justifies one.

    With Wolf’s foot breaking in his victory pose, what’s probably happening is the program interpolating in-between frames incorrectly
    Interpolation in 3d programs is typically done with a spline by default meaning it tries to curve out the movement to make the transition from one motion to another more smooth. However, if you have over four keys a keyframe, no keyframe, a keyframe and a final keyframe, the interpolation will massively overcompensate and shoot the foot out

    I could see the Wolf eyepatch thing being an issue of how the model was exported and what program the model was viewed in. The no material eyeball might default to the first material in some programs (probably his body) or be rendered solid black/invisible in others

    Ok, so as a 3d modeler, I think I know why wolf's foot turns around for 1 frame In the victory animation.
    So basically, when you add animations to characters, the renderer has to figure out which direction to rotate it (for instance, will it rotate on the z axis 90⁰ clockwise, or 270⁰ counterclockwise). Usually, this is pre programmed when you add the keyfram itself. However, it is very difficult to change this if you rotate it the wrong way. My guess is, they added a new key frame 1 frame before the mistake, and another 1 frame later to make it rotate smoothly. Then much later in they would have decided to change it, and thought nobody would notice or care if they didn't change the messed up frame

    if i had to guess, wolfs blaster is probably copy pasted from fox, so the smoke effect it still there, but the graphics for it aren't loaded. so when it appears you don't see anything. fox pools the effect so its there to be used.
    that actually gives me an idea how to optimize things for my own game.

    i guess i'd say that my favorite stage would be fountain of dreams, i just really like the aesthetic and it's a battlefield clone so i can play on the stage almost as if i was playing on battlefield. other than that i'd really like to see a stage ranking.

    Wolf sets his blaster to be more violent when fox is around. It hurts more, with no more actual damage.
    I'm guessing that's what the devs thought when they found it and decided to keep it, cuz you dont just make an effect test it and see the effect doesn't show.

    Did you know the blade on Wolf's blaster works and has a hit box. If an opponent finds its way just about the blade they'll get hurt.

    I really wonder what the devs priority is to fixing parts of the game, like I understand why things like Wolf's animations and smoke would be left, it's really hard to tell in gameplay, I just wonder at what point they'd deem it worthy of dev time. Also Reset Bomb Forest is my favourite looking stage in both forms and it's not close to me

    When the camera gets too close the game pops them outta the way to prevent you from clipping the camera into them (which is funny cuz you can clip the cam in replays). I'm assuming that maybe cuz Isabelle and her net are moved when you disrespect her personal space, the game checks next time a frame goes forward and thinks the net is off of DK, making him chunky (kong) again, and same applies to when you're out of it.
    That's my best guess, but do take it with a grain of salt. Have a good day!

    Huh. To each their own obviously, but I personally LOVE Toon Link's hit sound effect for the same reason you hate it. I would go so far as to say it's the most satisfying hit sound in the game to my ears. I do also love the sounds actually in Wind Waker, though.
