I have learned my lesson when I've bought a Tuf15, thinking the display brightness isn't a big deal. Display quality is a big deal, and once I've upgraded to the G14, it's like I've had laser surgery. For anyone that can afford $1200 for a laptop, I'm sure they can come up with a few hundred more and go G14.

Thanks for the review Matt. Acer has always provided decent quality for the price, with both their laptops and their monitors (I've had a few of both).
Great review thanks! My money would go on the outgoing 14” Predator Triton with all aluminium build, mini led 240hz gsync, 4070 and intel i7-13700H. Amazon have it on sale every now and then for $1300 which is an absolute steal!

The comparison with the Predator Helios Neo 14 that you just reviewed earlier would be interesting. I own the Predator, absolutely an amazing device with its price and performance.
Besides the poor display brightness, this is a pleasantly well balanced laptop. RTX 4060 belongs in FHD gaming anyway and the workday battery life is appreciated. Hoping to see more cheap and cheerful 14" gaming laptops!
I just bought the Acer Nitro 14 with R5 and RTX4050 for 873 USD here in Sweden. Pretty powerful and I really like the screen. The blacks are really black almost OLED like.
A good value option for mid-tier gaming laptops. At the price you cannot expect perfection but as a Mac user, if I wanted to casually game this would be an ideal laptop to buy as a secondary device.
I'm impressed. I really like what I see here. The only negative for me is the soldiered ram and the lack of second nvme. In general, good job Acer and thank you for the orange. Good review.
Sounds like a laptop one would buy and use with an external monitor to do coding sessions or even gaming as long as 1080p 60 FPS is the goal (which it is for me). Considering I use Lenovo T460s with 8 GB RAM and 256 SSD for my work rn, this is probably 30 times better than my setup for basic coding.
People tend to buy 14 inch devices for compact sizes. I don't get gaming laptops at 14 inches just like I don't get mobile gaming. I need bigger screens. But that being said, this laptop doesn't look 14 inches, looks more like a 15.6 inches with a more squarish body because of the extended back and the screen aspect ratio. Other than price to performance, it doesn't have anything else going for it. People would wait for sales and get a better laptop at this price. Although this might go to like $1000 during sales.
Umm.. I noticed keyboard RGB-color doing colorswap-discoshow - you can disable this or better: its only enabled if you want to and on this video it is enabled??

Hi Matthew, I am going for a laptop, but am a bit confused between Lenovo legion 7i 4070 GPU and Acer Predator helios 16 4080 GPU. Can you suggest which one shall I go with.
@@vishnu3260 I have the vanilla 5 with an i7 14650hx and the rtx4060, and it's an absolute beast. The quiet mode sees me running thermals below 70 Celsius, with ridiculous framerates on a 2.8k resolution.
I used 14 inch before.. it's just not suitable for gaming, everything seems too small. If you use it for office, then 14 inch might have its perks.... but when a normal 15.6 inch exist with equivalent spec, i guess people will just go with it instead (not mentioning the cheaper price). Legion 5 & 7 have larger cooler, more spaced keyboard, and a larger screen. And yes, the ideal situation is to use 14 inch and plug it to an external monitor, but people just don't opt for it.

If this had an option for 32 GB of RAM or it wasn't soldered, then MAYBE I'd consider recommending it. But not with 16 GB of soldered RAM. That's going to age incredibly poorly!
Can someone recommend me a laptop for all types of coding. I like to play FIFA 19 games only. I'm not looking for a high graphics game. I like more memory. For IT work as I am a student currently. You may recommend me the price of $800.

$9million question: is the RAM upgradable? I think not based on what the video shows of the innards but it would have been great to confirm.
I showed a pop-up on the screen with text with the laptop open stating that the ram is soldered on to the motherboard. It's not upgradeable /=
