I so agree with you about how satisfying bag making is! I purchased the 2024 Sallie Tomato Advent Box this year and am so happy with the contents. Looking forward to starting the New Year with some of the projects from that box. Adam Sews has been a great inspiration on trying a variety of bags, as well as you, Ruann, and Tamlyn.
Bag making is fun! I made a bag from one of the Beyond the Pink Door kits and really enjoyed the process. I know I’ll be making more in the coming year. I hear you about quilting - I was a massive quilter for years but now all I want to do is dressmaking although it is lovely to see my little granddaughter snuggled in one of my quilts. Happy New Year and look forward to watching your vlogs - always enjoy them! ❤
Super skirt Rachel and bag. Thank you so much for Vlogmas watch it every year and always enjoy and seeing Martin and Piper of course. Happy New Year to you all.
Thank you Rachel for all you hard work and effort re Vlogmas. Your husbands participation was also appreciated. Looking forward to seeing more vlogs next year! Wishing you and your family all the best for 2025.
It felt so lonely when vlogmas was over so I started my own vlog called «Romjulsvlog» Romjul is the Norwegian word for the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve 😁 and even if I used the Norwegian name for the blog I am vlogging in English 😁
The tweed skirt is gorgeous Rachel…looking fantastic, especially with the top you made… I have loved your vlogs, I watched every one, you had me hooked. Great to find a bit of time for my hobby and all things sewing now that I am retired. I so appreciate all the efforts, energy and hard work you put into vlogmas. A big THANK YOU. Am I too old to sew the mini skirt at 68, no don’t think so, my head tells me I am 35 !! 😘 Say hello to husband and Piper, thanks to them for Pipermas and Beermas. Happy New Year to you all. PS Mr Amazon is delivering the sewing book to me today, it looks like a fantastic book that I will treasure 👏👍🥂🧵💕Xxx
I wish I could do more than a couple of Kofi's, because I thought you put a lot of effort into Vlogmas, and it was fun, as we all prepared and made things along with you for our families. I do appreciate it is a ton of work to edit all those videos. Very happy there were enough of us sending you small thank you gifts over the holidays, that you were able to buy a bit of kit you wanted. I like the skirt you made. It is funny the designer put the seam in the front. We more a lot of this exact same style in the 70's with our warmer tights in a Canadian winter. My Mom was a dressmaker, and she made me a pig skin one for Christmas one year. I wore and wore it, I loved it so much. I had leather over the knee boots to wear with it. Happy memories, Happy New Year to you Racheal and your family.
I loved your vlogs over December Rachel and I want to thank you so much for all your hard work as it’s is much appreciated. I don’t vlog and never would but I do understand that a lot of effort goes into them and yours were amazing, thank you again and I look forward to 2025 and see all the projects you make
Living your sandhill bag - I’d need to use matching hardware 😅 that would mess with my head - that’s just me though- it’s gorgeous as well as your slate skirt. Thanks for the heads up re the mistakes in the instructions/ bad drafting. I know that they don’t use testers when doing their patterns, instructions so I guess they tripped up on that part! Love this vlog, you’ve injected some sewjo that I have been missing! ❤❤❤ happy new year when it comes!
I only had time to watch one vlogmass and maybe dip into others..I chose to follow you and it was brilliant so thank you so much. The fabric of your skirt is gorgeous and the strap of your bag goes with it.
Great bag! I got another heat press mini as my old one had died. They make using htv so much easier- it’s all trial and error and you do need to get a bit of a feel for it and how hot/long to press for etc. some htv is cool peel- worth remembering to check as you need to wait for it to cool completely before you can remove the backing. Have fun playing with your new toy!
Happy New Year to you, Martin and all the family. Also to the Community on here. Hope it is a Happy Healthy 2025 for everyone. Thankyou for all your hard work with Vlogmas and the rest of the years vlogs. It is very much appreciated. ❤❤ PS: I'm working on Fenrirmas! Got 12 months to get it right. 😂😂
Thank you Rachel, Im sure that vlogmas was a challenge, but I loved every day and am so appreciative of all your time and effort. Enjoy the rest of your time off, happy new year!! 🐾🐾
I had a replacement cutting mat and a new Prym Vario tool. I love my Cricut and heat press - you’ll soon be HTVing everything!! (I recommend buying some Jute shopping bags to personalise too!) Enjoy, Happy New Year 🥂💐🪡
Love your skirt Rachel 👌💖and your bag is fab... I love Noodlehead patterns too and have made the Harelsen bag and love it 🥰. I now want the Bestie bag 😜👌💖😘
Your skirt looks great Rachel. The bag is great too. I bought that Bestie bag from Blackbird fabric you made before. I was intrigued after you said the inside pocket wasn't lined so I took a good look at the instructions the other day. If you look at the pictures that show right side wrong side, interfacing and lining etc the pocket has got lining 😊
Oops Rachel forget that. I'm making the bag as I type. You were correct. I'm sorry 😂. Yes the smaller pocket gets completely folded over to make a double layered pocket and the big one is just folded over n hemmed as you correctly said. Very odd. I've scrapped that and just cut out 2 smaller pockets one for each side . Happy new year. Looking forward to more top tip Tuesdays 🎉
That skirt is so cute and I love the fabric. My daughter saw some tweed fabric and wanted a dress out of it but didn't know how it would do. But now that I see you lined your skirt I may give it a go. I just bought some wallet patterns and purse and I may try those too. I love your bag too. Thank you for your inspirations and your talks about your makes it helps alot.
Happy new year Rachel. Your skirt is gorgeous and fits you perfectly. Your bag is also great and will be so useful. I am very tempted by the Mila pattern too. I was glad to see your vlog today now all the hustle & bustle is over. So good to get in your sewing room. I did debate it but watched your vlog instead 🤣To be honest though I just need to tidy my sewing room rather than sew!
I bought a Cricut heat press about four years ago. You can tell as the 12 inch one cost less than £100. You definitely need one if you want to press vinyl onto clothes correctly. An iron just does not do it. But a Teflon sheet to put over the fabric and vinyl layer. As well as protecting those two layers it provides an even heat dispersal. Also check whether the vinyl you are using is hot, warm or cold peel. Then your results will be perfect x
No plans for New Years for me. Have a Happy New Year to you Rachel and Martin. May 2025 be all you want it to be. Looking forward to your videos as always. Can't wait.
Love your skirt, and the bag is very cute. I am sure you'll get lots of use out of it. I also like bag-making and Noodlehead patterns and am planning to make a new Pepin Tote over the holiday period. My current one lasted ages and took lots of punishment but is now showing signs of wear. ❤
Comment two. I should have waited for the whole.e thing to finish. I love noodlehead patterns. I have made three Sandhills slings and 5 other of her patterns. I just bought a Cricut easy press as well. I am hoping to use it for fusing interfacing for bag making, pluse HTV. Enjoy!
Too bad about zipper problem. The directions in indi patterns are just ridiculous “TO ME.” I only use Vogue, butterick , Mcalls, and never have a problem , clear and easy. Sewing for 50 years. Love your podcast.❤️🇨🇦❤️

Thank you! It’s such a good book you will find it a great resource
👍🏼👏🏻 on getting a heat press . It made Vlogmas worth the work and I’m happy it did ❤. I’ve never made a bag, but that Sandhill Sling is tempting me.
Love your skirt and top. They look marvelous on you. I now have purchased the Noodlehead pattern, love it.

Gorgeous skirt! I appreciate you telling us about the bag making process, too. I really want to sew up a bag or two, but I am terrified of bags :)
