I just bought the Belle dress, cause of you😊, the Anderson knit dress and Pietra Pants. I also bought the Unfettered Patterns jacket 1030 and ordered some wool from Guthrie Ghani. My next project is to finish the Pleiades dress and the Fibremood Olive which I'm hoping will be good for work😊thanks for the vlog, can't wait to see what you make in 2025. Great to be You Tube friends 😂
Thanks for keeping me company in 2024. It's been an absolute pleasure and privilege to watch all your vlogs and makes. Happy New year to you and your family. Many blessings for 2025.
I have really enjoyed listening to your sewing plans as you sound genuinely excited. Your chosen fabrics are lovely, too. I also avoid pockets and dangling strings, nothing weird about it, Alison, imho.😊 I am very much looking forward to your demonstrating how to use the overlocker in the sewing journey. Many wishes for a Happy New Year to you and yours, too. 🇦🇺 🪃 😂❤
It’s so easy Lauren wack the differential feed up to 2 and stitch length to 4 Have a play - if you want it less gathered do 1.8 Once it’s done if you need to gather it more your can do this by pulling the needle 2 thread x
Your Belle dress is fabulous on you! I’m looking forward to seeing your Marlo cardigan and what you think of the pattern as I’ve been wanting to make it for ages😊 Happy sewing 💕
I love the lines of the cardigan, especially the wider sleeves. I have the Harper Cardigan from Sinclaire patterns, which is quite similar, except I found the arms to be quite narrow. I'm hoping to alter the sleeves part of the pattern for a better layering fit. In the fall I found some bright orange tweed like coat fabric at a thrift store. I recall want to make a winter coat before the end of January to wear on an evening out with hubbie and friends. And hopefully a white silk blouse, using a fabric from a thrifted wedding gown. I think you have doable plans for January and I look forward to seeing the results.
I made the Lisa cardigan which is the same as the Marlo. It’s VERY oversized, but I’ve made a few and now have my size down. I did buttonholes and they came out great despite the thick sweater material I used. I did a few sample buttonholes on scraps of the sweater fabric before I did them on the sweater. I just love my sweater! I will definitely make it again!
It’s a PDF pattern by Seamwork that a lot of people were making because it was free for a few months. I don’t know if it is still free or not. But it really looks just like the Marlo.
Lovely plans Alison. I got the Marlow sweater pattern too but haven’t decided which fabric to make it in yet. I’m not sure about button holes in knit fabric either so may not do them. I had a vario creative tool for Christmas so could do snaps. I haven’t sewn anything for myself for so long as I made so many gifts. All were successful 😁I would like to make the Roscoe dress in double gauze( bought specifically) so may start with that after I’ve sorted out my space a bit. It’s in a dreadful mess😩 HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎉
I have made the scrunchie handle purse and it is very cute. Be sure to use stiff interfacing and/or stiffer fabric otherwise the bag will be floppy, like mine😆
The Marlo runs massively oversized, fyi. I went down 2 sizes and still have 2 over size cardigans. I will not be making it again, I’ll move on to other patterns. I do wear them, however. I gather with my overlocker as well, reading the directions does wonders. Was successful first try. I’m happy I got the extra feet for my own Babylock (Celebrate). Thanks for all you do.
Allison, thank you for inspiring me to begin to sew once again. It has been over 10 years that i have sewn clothes that are not just a quick over the head shapeless dress. I have to relearn how to follow a sewing pattern, how to prepare the fabric and gasp! How to take my measurements 😮
I’ve made the cropped version of the Marlow Alison, Ime 5ft 2. and found it short for me and would definitely lengthen it by a couple of inches. Hope this is helpful.😌x.
If you are weird, not liking ties and pockets, then I am, too, as I am just the same. I am making a Billie dress, a new to me pattern. I'm a bit worried about the fit atm. Also a Jurah, a Toaster sweater, and a Southbank top.
I am 5’ 6” and have 3 cropped Marlo cardigans. No adjustments. Love them. Did buttonholes on my first one - oddly enough I didn’t repeat that experience 😮. The Feliz dress looks interesting. I think a High Cuff sweater will be my next make - oh, and a Bestie bag in leftover Fabric Godmother leopard print. Better get cracking!! Happy New Year 😊🎉. Lynne
Haha! You made me chuckle about the pockets and ties etc. I am not a pocket lover on dresses either. They often spoil the line of the dress. Love the last navy and white fabric. Is it still available. Love the fabric of the dress that you are wearing too.
Happy new year when it comes. My 1st time watching - and definitely don't think you're weird for having your own preferences to pockets etc. That's the satisfaction of making your own wardrobe 😊. Really enjoyed hearing of your plans for Jan 2025. Take care.
I’ve been a bit naughty in the sales but when Lady McElroy has 50% off it’s irresistible. Also fell for some lovely fabrics in the Sew Me Sunshine sale. I’ve got some teal cobra corsage coming, a lovely Boucle tweed stripe in ‘auburn’ so gorgeous autumnal shades (to make an Ilford jacket maybe and some burgundy bradwell for trousers (or a jacket if it’s too heavy). Sunshine fabrics: 2 Nerida Hansen designs and the most beautiful jacquard with deep pink design on black for another jacket. Need to get onto toiling some jacket and trouser patterns now as I’ve only ever made easy fit trousers (elasticated waist/half elastic). Wish me luck!
That’s not naughty it’s normal 😂 I bought so much from Fabric Godmother I didn’t dare look elsewhere It’s coming on Thursday probably in a van all on its own due to the amount of
Hi Alison, I love a plans vlog! I only have one garment planned for January. I began cutting out a Nova Coat in November but ran out of steam. I don’t know whether to reprint and stick the pattern again so I have separate pattern pieces for the lining or just try and work it with the original pattern pieces. Anyhoo, the plan is to get the coat done. I must say, you’re looking VERY glamorous today ☺️ Have a great New Year when it comes 💞💞
Awe thank you - I had to follow a vlog in 2 parts when I made the Nova my brain couldn’t work out the strange pieces 😂 it’s lined and I’m sure she shows you how to do that too
Happy New Year to you and yours! In which of your vlogs do you show the Belle dress that you have on in this vlog? I've decided I might want to try it, but I want to see a lot of versions first. Thank you!

I am not used to having pockets in dresses but if I had them it was kind of bad manners to have your hands in your pockets growing up. My plans are to make a parka jacket this month.
I agree, I don't like pockets. I don't need any extra bulk on my hips. It's not weird at all. ❤❤
Phewwww pleased I’m not alone 😊

Thanks Janet it’s definitely the most flattering neckline on me

Thank you! Happy New Year to you too
I'm so pleased that I've found you! That navy and white fabric is gorgeous.
I’m pleased you did too 🥰 I’ve had it for a year it’s been going to be a few different things and now it’s finally cut 🎉
I'm not new to your channel and I've learned something else about you! Hahaha. I don't like ties either hanging in the front!❤
Thank goodness not just me then 😂
Yes, yes yes🎉🎉🎉 I don't like pockets either especially on dresses and skirts. So glad I am not alone and I don't like waistband ties either😂😂😂
We now have our own club 😂
Oooh I’m looking forward to seeing how you gather on your overlocker Alison! Have a wonderful New Year!

Hi Alison! I'm listening to you as I'm doing my last bit of running around for the new year.
Happy new year!
I have enjoyed watching you for the past year I hope to continue watching
Thanks for watching it’s really appreciated and I’ve a lot planned already 🤞 you enjoy it x

I got The Harper a couple of years ago but I didn’t make it I agree the sleeves are narrower for sure

Snaps are a good idea Andrea from Beyond the Pink Door has a great blog on using it - I keep forgetting about mine 🤦♀️
I have made the scrunchie handle purse and it is very cute. Be sure to use stiff interfacing and/or stiffer fabric otherwise the bag will be floppy, like mine😆
Thanks good tip !! I double layered it but I think it might need to be thinker
Great projects!!!😅

You are so welcome! And how exciting when that fabric becomes something that flatters your shape and is truly unique and gorgeous x
The Feliz dress looks gorgeous. Could be another Judy!

Wonderful! I bet it’s gorgeous
